HOW TO CARTOON GOOD: THE MOVIE

A macabre yet light-hearted animated comedy series set in a rather gloomy and old-fashioned mental asylum in the middle of the woods, where nights seem to last far longer than days. The asylum is quite large and sprawling, and the architecture is downright bizarre in some places. I was thinking 11 minute episodes with some continuity

The main character is a wide-eyed and spacey little girl. She has long, slightly unkempt red hair that reaches to her knees. She’s rather loopy, eccentric, abundantly creative, and unusual. She also scares easily, and has trouble making new friends due to her personality. Unfortunately, having these traits caused her to be diagnosed as certifiably insane and sent to the asylum. She wears a hospital gown, a makeshift ribbon made out of a scrap of cloth, and a pair of soft white slippers. She adjusts rather easily to the asylum, but she adamantly insists that she’s perfectly sane.

How's that?

I've been thinking about making a full storyboard episode about my own cartoon (pic related) and upload it to Youtube for feedback and overall opinions.

It's actually a bad idea to share stuff online before you finish it, the part of your brain that derives pleasure from social praise or acknowledgement for something you did becomes desensitized and you actually lose a ton of motivation to finish the thing you're working on.

Don't post ideas, only post finished stuff. You'll get stuff done a lot quicker if you stop yammering.

>making pic related, a surrealist comic about kids getting bullied, psychohistory, and childhood depression. Worried about the painting style since I'm more of a black and white kind of artist, struggling with realistic shading and trying not to use too much black as a crutch for bad painting

Pitched it as a cartoon once before, so it's pretty well developed. Currently reading Arthurian literature and medieval texts to write in prose and poetry. >working on an urban horror animation about a post man in the post apocalypse, it's halfway boarded and my team started working on the animation roughs and keys recently. It's secondary to the comics. Would rather keep the animatics private for now. Here's a little tease
