I remember that. I finally dropped it at the magister made of butts, but it had been getting steadily worse for a long time before that. It just jumped from plot line to plot line like a hyperactive child on a sugar rush. Like the war against Legara. I think QC wins just because it's so fucking mediocre. thing is though I failed to form a reader relationship with the characters. I genuinely don't find any connection or purpose for me to keep caring about Dave or Rose or John this far into the story, even though I'm aware it's still plainly developing.
like I get their characterizations and Dave's ironic shit and all, but to come off from this, constantly hearing about how 'early Homestuck is the best', it just concerns me, because frankly I don't understand half the shit that is happening. maybe it's because I'm too stupid to pick up on cues and everything is connected but the only thing I as able to make out was the time travel stuff this far in.

I'm just not invested in the story. I could bring up the whole troll word exchange as amusing but that's about it.

Alright let me break it down for you

People consider early homestuck to be the best because of the element of mystery as well as character development through subtext rather than upfront like it is in the later parts, which you may prefer given the description you've given me

If you're worried about attachment to characters, you'd have a good reason to stop. Halfway through They do a hard reset on the session and swap eachother out for younger versions of their guardians. They still appear from time to time due to them having to take a 3 year long journey to the new session while we get to know the new guys

There is actual character development, but it's more subtle up until post act 6 where it hits you like a brick.

In terms of following the story, it gets more thoroughly explained post act 6, which some people don't like.
