There seem to be many villains who also have guns

I suppose helping people out in a significant way without receiving anything in return, not even a salary.
I've always felt conflicted about police officers, doctors, and firefights being called heroes when they're just doing their job. I mean, they probably wouldn't do them if they were not getting paid.
A civilian who tackles a terrorist during an attack instead of running away has more right to call themselves a hero than the policeman who takes said terrorist down.
>>
>>93451191
Or the guy that stops a gang from stomping the fuck out of some mentally disabled chick, even though he knows he's going to get his shit kicked in instead and then only asks for two panadol at the hospital three hours later.
>>
>>93451244
Yeah, that guy too. I'd say a hero is that person who decides to intervene in a situation that is going to fuck them over more than benefit them, and in which running away or avoiding it entirely would bear no negative consequences for them but decide to help regardless.
>>
>>93451191
The way I've always seen the police/firefighter/doctor scenario is that these people obviously chose that career choice for a reason. Most people don't just become police officers because there's nothing else to do. Even if they wouldn't do it if they weren't getting paid there's still that moral urge to help people, no?

Thanks, anon. I had to tell someone eventually.

doing the right thing, always, no matter what people say
>>
>>93451306
A lot of doctors get into it specifically for the money or because their parents forced them into it, police often get into it for the power trip no, I'm not talking about cops gunning down blacks or anything, just some cops are dicks.
I don't know any firefighters, but there are so many ways people get into doing things, like wanting to do what a parent did or something akin to that without helping people being much of a reason or at all.
>>
>>93451306
That is true, but, at least in my personal environment, most policemen were high school bullies who wanted to get their hands of a gun.
Also, those jobs are pretty financially secure due to the fact that they are finance by the government, at least where I live. So that kind of dampens the good will. Not that there isn't, just that you need to know each individual case and every person's reasoning for joining the force.

"A hero isn't someone who is capable of saving everyone all the time. A hero is someone who helps where and when they can. This is why we need a lot of them The fact that atrocities still happen, such as those you suffered, is proof that we need heroes now more than ever."

I never liked this song.

It always felt incomplete, like it only had half a point and half a verse, and just decided to throw in some Aquaman cross-dressing to distract from it.

I might just be biased because I roll my eyes every time he says Batman has no superpowers but I genuinely think this song is overrated and not as great as people keep saying it is and doesn't do a good job of conveying the "Powers aren't everything that makes a hero" message.
