Try watching on kisscartoon mate, or just buy the blu rays if you have to

Hope you find a way to watch the show, it's honestly really fun, and has some incredible moments of Star Wars.

Also, you should watch The Clone Wars first, it will improve your experience of Rebels, and is frankly a better show in every way (even though I love Rebels too)

My guess is that force sensitives in certain parts of the galaxy or force sensitives with parents who so wish are sent instead to NaJedha to become Shamans of the Whills. I say this because you don't have to be force sensitive to be a Whill, however you pretty much have to be force sensitive to be a Shaman since that title implies that you receive visions and can tap into a spiritual world. I think it's very possible that Qui-Gon still learned how to become immortal from a Shaman of the Whills, but it's tweaked a bit where instead of literally learning from the Shaman, he instead learns of the Wellspring of Life from him which leads him to the Force Priestess. Keep in mind Dave Filoni has said that even the trials in the Wellspring of Life aren't how you learn how to become immortal, they're more like a test to see if you're worthy to begin your training so technically Qui-Gon and Yoda didn't learn how to become immortal right then and there when they hung out with the Priestess meaning that the statement 'Qui-Gon learned how to become immortal from a Shaman of the Whills' or 'Qui-Gon learned how to become immortal from the force Priestess' could easily be equally correct if you look at it as a journey instead of a single lesson.

Well the Guardians of the Whills actually come from George's ideas for his live action show that he was writing while making The Clone Wars so it's very likely that this was around the time he began to figure out exactly what a Shaman of the Whills was (if he hadn't already when he mentioned them in Revenge of the Sith's script). Also people misinterpret 'Whill' to be some weird ancient alien god thing when instead it's just an ancient word for the Force. This means that the Shaman of the Whills was always supposed to be an actual person who would likely be on Jedha. Then I realized that Qui-Gon likely visited Jedha anyways since Episode 1 implies that he doesn't care for the modern Jedi and instead opts for a different, possibly more ancient, view of the Force. I don't see any reason for the Force Priestess to have called out to Qui-Gon, so I think it's more likely that he found out about them instead while studying ancient religions. A Shaman would have contact with spirits like the Force Priestess (however I doubt this Shaman would know how to become immortal himself) so it's possible that Qui-Gon talked to the Force Priestess through her possessing the Shaman in a ritual, then the Force Priestess liked Qui-Gon enough to invite him to the Wellspring of Life so he could eventually learn immortality. It just seems like a natural way Qui-Gon would have figured out how to go to the Wellspring of Life in the first place and it nicely adds back a bit of lore from a deleted scene of Episode 3 while adding to new lore from Rogue One.

People overthink Mortis and the Force Priestesses too much. You have to realize that Lucas is a Christian who believes in God and the bible while ethically being more Buddhist in his beliefs about attachment and passion. The Force Priestesses are the Whills. Whills are whatever sentient nature the force holds (the force is sentient, Qui-Gon says this in Episode 1 and if the force resides in all things then it resides in literal brains and neurons meaning that if there is any purpose in life the force probably manifests as sentience at times to better guide people). The Whills were probably the first life the force ever made, and when they died they became a force spirit. They likely died so that the force's sentience could have a better understanding of death and suffering which would inspire it to favor the light side very similarly to God coming down to Earth as man to endure poverty and death so that the weight of sin could be lifted off of mortal man (or Buddha choosing to live in poverty to better understand why people suffer). The Whills are in the real world and can see the future/past and all of current existence even while in the Wellspring of Life (keep in mind they knew about the Father meaning they likely could see into Mortis). Due to their ability to see all things that were and will be they probably spoke to Shamans of the Whills on Jedha to inspire them to write the Journal of the Whills (keep in mind a Shaman is traditionally someone who can speak with spirits). This is very similar to the doctrine of biblical intervention that states that the authors of the Bible were in a trance guided by God when they wrote the Bible.

Mortis was the Book of Revelation except if Christ, unknowing that his destiny is to be crucified, experienced it and if the events happening in the vision directly affected the balance between good and evil in the real world.
>>
>>93443916
Oh and the Ones were ancient Jedi. Otherwise there's no story reason for an ancient Jedi signal to be what draws the Jedi to Mortis when instead it could be Anakin having visions or The Father simply asking Anakin to come to Mortis. The Father was probably where the prophecy of The Chosen One originated (he's also probably intended to be the Shaman of the Whills that Qui-Gon mentions in ROTS' deleted scenes since if the Chosen One prophecy came from him, then he probably wrote some, if not all of the Journal of the Whills). The Father probably comes from a time when the Jedi and Whillism on Jedha were still very close where a Shaman of the Whills would also have a role in the Jedi Order. Also remember that the Father mentions that he lived in the real world at some point but then decided to move to the realm of Mortis when he feared his children would tear the galaxy apart.

Qui-Gon likely got frustrated with the Jedi Order, decided to go to the basics by studying the Journal of the Whills, then in his studies realize that the author of the Journal disappeared, searched around until he found the point he disappeared to, found Mortis (even though he probably wasn't intended to visit the plane), then was contacted by the Force Priestess due to his dedication to learning of the ancient Force religions, then went to the Wellspring of Life to do his trials to become immortal.
>>
There is absolutely no need for the "time flows slowe on Dagobah" meme. Luke's training must have taken some lengthy amount of time, sure, but the Falcon's hyperdrive was disabled, so it makes sense that it would also take a lengthy amount of time for Han and Leia to reach Bespin (hell, realistically it should have taken them hundreds if not thousands of years). However long Luke was being trained by Yoda, the Falcon would have been slowly crawling through real space between solar systems all that time, no need to introduce time dilation that we know otherwise doesn't exist in Star Wars.
>>

*except for Mortis, of course, but that's a different thing altogether.

Is it worse than TCW? Yes! But that's a given since the budget is like a quarter (or less) of it. Rebels is a totally different kind of show. And it works well. It's my favorite non-book in canon (I like Thrawn more but that book is basically a Rebels book lol).

Three years in, and the normies still haven't got the memo that cartoons, comics and books are equal to the movies now.
For many people, there is simply no incentive to watch TCW and learn who Ahsoka is, because in the public eye, the movies always come first and other media doesn't matter.
Someone who claims to be a fan may have rewatched all the movies dozens of times and yet still have no idea or interest in what happens in TCW or Rebels or the comics, etc.

I think "Normies" isn't the right term. I think Normies are more like people who like Star Wars but don't consider themselves die-hard fans. My sister I think is in this category and she's seen all the movies and TCW series, but not rebels. She likes Star Wars okay, but doesn't really engage much in fandom and hasn't rewatched much other than the OT, and Rogue One.

I think people that pretend to be huge Star Wars fans and call themselves "Geeks" but haven't put in any effort to see/read anything other than the movies are posers. They aren't really even normies because normies don't claim to be Star Wars geeks.

this is why I dislike ESBfags, they treat the impossible to insult critically acclaimed entry in the franchise as the be all end all of star wars while knowing next to nothing about it outside of they are TOLD to like it, and there's nothing more important to their social capital than having the correct opinions, let alone giving a shit about the rest of the franchise that informs it and from which it is an inseparable integral part

A few people were screaming "REEE Kennedy ruined Star Wars", but most of us are actually happy with the news. Rumors were not sounding good for the movie, with L&M making their own changes that possibly exceeded the shit JJ did to TFA.

Supposedly it was Alden himself who was complaining that the movie was falling apart, so Kennedy had to take action, no matter how late in production things were.

Ron Howard is also a much more fitting and deserving choice for the movie, I think he would much more appropriately bring Lucas's story idea to life. I'm personally hoping the movie is delayed so that he can reshoot as much of it as possible.

Good Trilogy.jpg

I recently watched Revenge of the Sith, Rogue One, and A New Hope directly after each other as a trilogy - and it worked really well! Here are a few things that stuck out to me:

It's great to see some direct context for Obi Wan's words in A New Hope in ROTS, and it really makes Obi Wan's character, and his death, seem even more important and poignant to the story. It's also a really good way to see the transition of Anakin to Darth Vader at the end of ROTS pay off in Rogue One, and then continued in ANH. Vader and Obi-Wans battle in ANH, while not as fast or exciting as others in the saga, becomes even more emotionally stimulating than it did before with the addition of ROTS backing up it's history.

Rogue One works well as a middle chapter between ROTS and ANH, because it shows the direct effects of Anakin's actions in ROTS on the wider galaxy - beyond just Jedi and Sith. It also expands upon the mythos of the force with Chirrut so the themes of faith, power, and spiritualism aren't lost. It's an excellent transition between ROTS and ANH.

The final trench sequence in ANH really feels like a final hurrah for the trilogy after all the sacrifice in Rogue One and the bloodshed in ROTS. Luke's embrace of the force and the teachings of Obi Wan works as a continuation of the spirituality of Chirrut and Baze and as a counterweight of hope to the destruction of the jedi and spirituality as a whole in ROTS.

It's a kinda alt-trilogy, but it works really well and is very satisfying to watch. The change of cast in each film (with minor exceptions) also stops anything feeling stale.

Actually a lot of them do get that, especially because of how much Maul was marketed.

It's common knowledge that he returned now. In fact normies think he is still alive.

But normies don't actually like Star Wars. They can soak in a 90-minute movie just fine to fit in with the crowd, but ask them to start watching a cartoon with a single 90-minute arc, and they'll find a reason to brush it off.

And don't even bother ask them to read a book. Even something like Catalyst, an extrememly well-written book that is practically an essential companion piece to Rogue One. But normies don't actually give a shit enough to read that when they can just watch the movie and talk about how funny K2 is, and how badass Jyn is, and then never talk about it again.

>>
>>93447811
I've been thinking about this too, ROTS/RO/ANH actually does seem to work really well as a trilogy.

>See the rise of Vader
>Fall of the Republic
>Get some interaction with Bail making his exit in RO, and death in ANH even more powerful
>Anakin's rage slots in perfectly between the movies

Most importantly though, you get to see the aftermath of ROTS to appropriately raise the stakes of ANH, which weren't as apparent because ANH exclusively took place on shithole worlds so you never actually see what life was like before the Empire. ROTS shows the peak of the Republic, and RO shows good places that are now grimy and fearful under Imperial Rule.

I believe in a full 8-movie marathon, the stretch of ROTS->RO->ANH would be the most fluid and exciting and impactful, despite the three movies being completely different in tone and genre.

I've watched all the movies countless times (obviously), read all the canon comics, currently reading the canon books, played the games for years (kotor 1&2, battlefront, jedi academy etc) but every time I try to watch those cartoons I don't enjoy them. Am I not enough of a Star Wars fan for your standards? Why can't you accept those shows aren't for everyone and move on - why would you even want to ask someone to watch a 90 minute arc of a cartoon show?
>>

And you're not willing to read the comics and watch the cartoons of a franchise you CLAIM to enjoy?
That's like saying you're a Ducktales fan but all you've ever watched is the movie from 1990.
>>
>>93448027
Not that guy, but you really seem like you just don't like cartoons in the first place.

As for me, if the story is good, I don't care about the medium it's told in. The thing I like best about TCW series was the positive effect it had on the story from the prequels. I can accept that some people aren't going to like all things, but it really seems like you're judging the cartoon shows on the fact that they're cartoon shows and not on their content.
>>
>>93448027
No, I wont accept they're not for everyone. And I am dead serious too.

Firstly, TCW came directly from George Lucas. The show was very much the next step, the next major Star Wars project following the prequels. The show is 121 fucking episodes long, and each story varies in tone. Different protagonists, themes, locations, ect.

You like TPM? They have episodes like it. ESB? They got episodes connected to, or in the tone of that too. Want some light-hearted comedy about droids? Theres an arc for it. Want some trippy Dagobah-style expansion of Force lore? There's arcs for that. Want some action, or thriller episodes? Zombies? A Godzilla homage? Spy arc? Mandalorians? Villain spotlights? Bounty Hunters? Vietnam in space?

TCW literally has something for every kind of Star Wars fan. This is not up for debate, so don't try. There is simply no logical excuse to brush off that show, unless you find the episode count too fucking scary that you as a Star Wars "fan" would rather pass on it than experience it as you did the movies, to find which aspects of Star Wars you like the best.
>>
>>93447109

>the normies still haven't got the memo that cartoons, comics and books are equal to the movies now.

Equal in terms of canon, sure - equal in terms of merit? Not even close. People don't care about canon they care about good stories, and anything outside of the movies rarely covers that. They don't have the time or effort to watch hours of a cartoon for that. Maybe a comic at the most. People have enough shit to do and watch than to spend days watching a show to introduce themselves to a character that has never, and will never, appear in a movie. (Ahsoka)
>>
>>93448099
>you just don't like cartoons in the first place.
aside from that being a fedora-tippingly edgy immature trait to have, Star Wars itself is functionally a live action cartoon (ignoring cgi and stop motion), so I don't know how this guy can enjoy Star Wars at all
>>

Maul stops being a Sith after the clone war period and Ventress was only an adept dark side user, never a Sith proper.

I repeat the question: How do you claim to enjoy Star Wars at all? TCW is IDENTICAL to the prequels except in terms of visual fidelity by virtue of being CGI instead of live action; Rebels is IDENTICAL to the OT except in terms of visual fidelity by virtue of being CGI instead of live action; and both of those marks against fidelity are counteracted by unique and appealing stylizations. Furthermore, there is a lot more cartoon content than there is feature film, by a very large margin. By definition, if you do not like the cartoons you do not like Star Wars, and you do not get to call yourself a fan.

Right. Well this is going nowhere.

All I can say is you're missing out on some of the highest quality storytelling the franchise has, from the mind of Lucas himself. If you're really not going to watch the cartoons, its your loss. And a big one.

How can you claim to be the huge star wars fan who has gotten artbooks, toys, rewatched all the movies multiple times and buy and enjoy star wars stuff, but exclude a huge chunk of it? It may just be that "you don't like it" but it seem much more petty that you've drawn a circle around 2 shows specifically in all the star wars canon/memorabilia/stuff and said, "Nope, not for me!" It sound much more like you're bleating "Not Muh ___!"
>>
>>93448402

I'm glad you're not being unreasonable like a lot of other people in this thread. I mean jesus christ people flipped out.

In terms of the EU thing, nah the EU was mostly trash. I much prefer nu-canon.

I think a lot of people maybe took me not watching and personally disliking the cartoons as me wanting lucasfilm to just stop producing them? I don't know why they'd assume that. I also think it's so weird to call someone not a 'real' fan for not watching the cartoons. Do you think the concept artists, who have worked on star wars since the prequels and are pretty much as involved with star wars as they come have all watched all of the cartoons? Do you think gareth edwards has watched all of the cartoons? Are they not fans of star wars?

Personally though, I watched a few episodes of TCW and Rebels and they just didn't vibe with me. I didn't enjoy them. There's loads of other stuff for me to enjoy though, so what's the issue? Why draw the line of what makes someone a true fan at the cartoon shows? That seems odd to me

I watch the Lord of the Rings movies multiple times and loved them to death. Played the vidya too.

But I've never read the books (except the Hobbit) nor have I even seen the Hobbit movies.

I sure as shit don't consider myself a Tolkien fan.

>>93448422
>why are the cartoon shows the be-all and end-all of being a 'real' star wars fan?
Because the cartoons, in the case of Star Wars, are actually the biggest thing Lucas ever did. Do you actually comprehend how long 121 episodes is? How many stories, and how much lore and worldbuilding is in that? It absolutely dwarfs what he did with the movies, if you don't watch TCW, you are ignoring a huge, huge, HUGE chunk of completely canon Star Wars. So much of Canon Star Wars has span directly out of TCW. I have been reading all the books and comics and I don't think a single one exists that doesn't have some kind of location, character, design or lore lifted straight from TCW. There's even TCW stuff in TFA, despite JJ's cancerous attempt at burying non-OT references, and even more in Rogue One. You might not even know this, seeing as you haven't watched the cartoons, but Saw Gerrera, Forest Whitakers characters, is literally a character who was the protagonist of a 4-episode Arc in TCW. And this is just the first spin-off movie Lucasfilm has done.

I don't think someone can choose to not watch the show, and still claim to be "fanatical" about Star Wars, because you're simply missing out on SO much.
>>
>>93448525
Why claim to be a true fan when you purposefully exclude what amounts to 30 to 35% of the current canon because you don't like cartoons?
>>
>Do you think the concept artists, who have worked on star wars since the prequels and are pretty much as involved with star wars as they come have all watched all of the cartoons?
YES!!

>Do you think gareth edwards has watched all of the cartoons?
LITERALLY YES, read what I mentioned here >>93448547 about Forests character above. Even Forest Whitaker talked about enjoying the show and was really happy to be bringing the cartoon character to live action.

Gareth even had Dave Filoni (producer of the cartoons) come down and help out on set, and worked with him to tie the movie into Rebels. Rogue One also has cameo appearances from Hera Syndulla, Chopper, and the Ghost (the ship the Rebels use as their home in the cartoon), as well as hammerhead corvettes used in an episode of the show, which Gareth was happy to not only have show up in his movie, but also get the climactic moment of the entire space battle.

>>
>>93448612
I feel the same way.

People who hate on TCW never watch much of the show. Anybody who actually dives into the show usually is praising it by the 20% mark.

There's so much content there that it's simply impossible to hate it. Even if the show starts off rocky.
>>
>>93448604
I don't think it's unreasonable to expect someone who claims to be a huge star wars fan to not exclude a big chunk of it for petty reasons. We wouldn't be having this argument if this guy wasn't trying to claim you can be a massive star wars geek but not watch the biggest part of it. Imagine if I claimed to be a huge star wars fan but then said I'd never seen AotC or RotS because "I watched some of the prequels (TPM) and it's not for me." How can I make that claim when I didn't watch it all? Star Wars must not be very important to me after all, huh?
>>
To be clear, this thread doesn't really find anything officially, objectively wrong with not liking the cartoons, even though arguments can be made, because ultimately different people have different preferences.

But you cannot expect anybody to take you seriously if you don't even make the effort to watch them. You will be dismissed and rightly so.
>>
I'm just a bit baffled that someone in /swco/ of all places hasn't watched and enjoyed TCW.

It's basically a staple of the threads, as much as it is a staple of the franchise now. Discussion of Star Wars here ranges from the books and comics, the the movies and videogames, but above that all is how much we talk about the cartoons. It seems like for the most part, TCW (and to a slightly lesser extent, Rebels) was the thing that was holding everyone here in place. We never have threads where characters or stories from TCW aren't mentioned in discussion, because it's so big and important to everything else we talk about.

If anything, anybody who hasn't watched TCW is just going to be missing out on a lot of good discussion here. I'd find it very hard to fit in if I hadn't watched those cartoons.

But TCW is an essential of SW, if you don´t watch it you will always be a tertiary fan
For example, i don´t like AOTC that much, but i watched it anyway, didn't enjoy Dark disciple that much, but I read it anyway.
SW is massive, it more than reasonable to not like everything, but not even giving it the chance, that's the thing that stops you from being a fan.

I unironically like it. I don't feel especially strong about it (like, say, about Hera x Kanan), and wouldn't lose any sleep over it if it doesn't happen, but I find it cute and would be interested to see where can it go. Two reasons:
1. Erotic; older female on younger male is not only among the best fetishes but is the universal pairing within Star Wars itself, the only confirmed contrary examples to this being Kanan/Hera and Han/Leia.
2. Poetic; the apprentice of Anakin Skywalker who loved him first in the pseudo-romantic way a student has for a teacher and then actualized the love in the platonic familial dynamic, being able to connect once more to Anakin through his son. Additionally, her knowledge of Anakin would be of utmost interest to young Skywalker. This bond based on Anakin plays off each other.

>>

with ahsoka its difficult to determine but steela was definitely older
and then there's the whole Clone aging issue that means pretty much every girl they ever look at is older than them, so that means female jedi like Shaak Ti and Barriss, every Kaminoan, and Suu Lawquane

Well that depends on how you look at it. Chronologically, yes, they were older. Physically, every active serving clone was a matured, grown-ass man.

Why would she care about three ghosts, two of which she never met as living people at a point where she could remember them? Anakin is the only one relevant to her, even then she was still in the mindset of "Vader is the most evil thing other than the Emperor and literally tortured me." Plus she (and everyone else on Endor) were part of an operation that killed the top two Imperials, another battle station and severely crippled the Empire as a whole. Focusing on fucking Han in one of the huts, focusing on the camaraderie with her soldiers and the whole atmosphere of celebration is enough to make someone forget seeing something like that.
>>
>>93454497
I don't really see the problem here. Clearly with how everyone seems to interpret the force different ways, some of them would probably be peace feggits that go off to study shit for no discernible reason other than be interesting fights for when the need arises. What I'm wondering is why Vader chose this kind of jedi. Shouldn't people who only study the force not need light sabers? Why would he have one?

It's literally slim pickings at this point, and Vader has to go with whoever on the records is most likely to still be alive after the purge. If he didn't go for this guy first, he would go after him at a later point, or have the Inquisitors do it. It's also to prove himself and get himself more battle-accustomed in his armor.
>>

Maybe? Everyone has a midichlorian count and can feel or comprehend the Force to a degree. But for the sake of sense, probably not. In order to really feel, comprehend and use the Force, you need a moderare to high count. No doubt you can develop this over time but when referring to the everyman? No. The most I assume they'll get are vague visitations through dreams or the distinct familiar "feeling" of something or someone there.

There's no proof that no one other than Luke and Leia (who is force sensitive, don't forget) saw the ghosts. There's no proof that ghosts can't appear to non-sensitives, since the ghosts have only showed up in ESB and ROTJ to the force sensitive main character(s) immediate area, as well as Qui-gon's disembodied voice/"ghost" appearing to three Jedi in TCW.

There's too little information to be able to say one way or the other how they work.

Most fans following and enjoying Canon were enjoying the EU a decade ago too. We didn't suddenly figure out how to read books in 2014.

That's why this neophyte "insult" is retarded. It's just a weak attempt to put EUfans on a pedestal that doesn't exist. Like the only way someone could possibly prefer canon is if they're new to the franchise, implying that the EU was better, which is just false.

I'm actually a real big fan of the first order transports. Star Wars takes a lot of inspiration from world wars, and I think this is one of the best things to come out of it. It's a really cool design and I'm proud the new directors put this in, it really showed the level of their creative design. A shame the movie plot was nothing new, I really feel like it would be better if they had been more creative with it.

Except gay didn't come to be used as an insult until long after homosexuals started describing themselves as such, so that's not really a good analogy.

Whoever this "neophyte" guy is who popped up last thread, he is by far the worst shitposter we've ever had in these threads, and that's saying something considering the recent /pol/ invasion and the 3 solid years of EU vs canon wars. Shieldgate anon wasn't half as bad as this, not by a long shot. >>
>>93455958
Yeah, but I feel like none of them did what Baneposting did. Sure, TFA has TR-8R and the spinning baton, and Phasma being dumped in the trash, but those are really isolated incidents. Baneposting basically made an entire film into one long, sustained meme. It's like an onion of a meme. There's a surface layer, but each time you peel the topmost layer back you discover new layers of memes beneath. It's a meme that contains multitudes, and I'm not sure there's a Star Wars movie like that yet.

Although sometimes I wonder if A New Hope wouldn't get Baneposted if it came out today. There is an awful lot of memeable stuff in that movie. It may be the most memeworthy Star Wars movie.

I feel like Sheevposting only really took off once we learned about Sheev as a name. Ian McDiermid's outrageous hamminess in ROTS was pretty great, but once we knew that this kooky character who spent the last third of the movie cackling and sneering and chewing the scenery had such a memeable name, it was like a rocket to the moon.

It can pose as a mundane staff, it gives you longer reach, it's less predictable when enemy don't know a fighting style that use a polearm.

Longer laser seems to be much harder to achieve than using long handle.

I had a similar revelation when I got the Star Wars Special Editions on VHS years back. Difference is mine was "Why doesn't something that big have more than one command center?"
It was about that time I started to reallly sympathize with the Empire.

>Rogue one because it didn't have any jedi

I could never understand the appeal of the Jedi and Sith. I always found characters like Lando, Han, and Cassian more interesting. Just 1 guy in the middle of a galactic war trying to do something.

Meanwhile the Jedi and Sith are these super powerful guys who can get shit done with a flick of the wrist. Drained all the suspense out of a situation when you can just use force powers to get out of it.

No, I didn't read it, but that doesn't change how it looks. Someone's author self-insert sharing the scene on the same level as Vader. I doubt context of the comic would change anything anyway since it's made by the same company that's been shoving women and PoCs into all it's comics for the past few years.

Though perhaps you'd be kind enough to provide a brief bit of context for your waifu?

The only thing that bugs me about Star Wars' "practicality" is the scope placement on their guns. Most of the time it's off to the side, which would fuck with the balance and make it hard to stay on target. And even in cases where you have to have the scope on the side for one reason or another, such as on the M1 Garand, most people are right-handed, and it makes more sense to have the scope off to the left. But the scopes are on the right side. Imagine trying to aim with this thing right-handed. You'd have to either crane your right arm all the way to the left, or hold the gun semi-gangsta style.
>>
>>93455935
>do the CIS take prisons
Heavy doesn't
>>
>>93457223
Sure.

First of all, that webm is an advertisement for a mobile game. In said mobilegame, characters are paired together in duos (Han and Chewie, for example). Vader, as you know, doesn't really have a co-op buddy. Closest is Sheev, who doesn't really go out and fight with Vader on the battlefield (with Lords of the Sith being the sole example).

So they took the closest thing to a partner Vader has; Aphra, who was the second protagonist of the 2015 comic which was ongoing at the time of the mobile games release.

However Aphra's relationship with Vader is definitely not like Han/Chewie. Essentially, Aphra is a rogue archaeologist who is pretty good at stealing shit. Vader hires her because he suspects Sheev has been lying to him about the fate of Padmé, and he needs someone that can get the information he needs. He went outside of the usual Bounty Hunters because he needed to make sure that this wouldn't be traced back to him. Aphra is nervous and fearful of Vader, although she shows a small level of admiration for him too. Vader almost NEVER shows compassion for her. For the majority of the first half of the run, he seems to be tolerating her at best. She never fights alongside him, she is mostly just sent to go torture people, and report back to him with information.

Then at the first hint of Vader maybe, sorta, possibly growing on her, Aphra fucks up. She disobeys orders, goes rogue, and the tail-end of the comic (at least regarding her side of it) is Vader hunting her down to kill her because she knows too much and proved that she wasn't completely faithful to him. He's actually pretty brutal in how he goes about punishing her too.

Aphra herself is an edgy, and somewhat quirky character, but she is absolutely not without flaws, and the farthest thing from a mary sue. Literally every character in every comic she has appeared in basically hates her, and her only real achievement in her crossover with the main cast was getting knocked out by Leia.

>>
>>93457434
Star Wars has a lot of very mystical shit in it. In the past year of canon, we've been seeing sentient mountains, and something very strange happening with Ahsoka's death/survival/reincarnation, and some giant wolves.

I think soul transfer is not out of the realm of possibility, and could be a valid goal for a Sith as a short-term fix to seeking immortality. It fits pretty well and doesn't contradict George's rule of no Ghosts neither. Plus we see Rur in the Aphra comic, his sentience is inside that crystal, so I am thinking that transfering sentience/"souls" is possible.

No problem.

To be completely honest, when Aphra was first introduced, a lot of people (including myself) were very cautious that Marvel was trying to inject SJW tumblr shit into Star Wars. It was only 3 issues in, and focus on the Vader comic was already being shared with a random asian girl nobody knew. And I am sure tumblr likes Aphra just because of the face-value diversity, but I still don't get the impression that Aphra as a character is trying to directly appeal to them neither. She honestly just feels like Han Solo, if Han Solo was hired by Vader instead of Obi-Wan in ANH. Victim of circumstance.

I gave her a chance, and Aphra ended up being pretty cool. She's like an edgy Han Solo, she doesn't undermine Vader in the slightest, and her "job" has opened up plenty of lore exploration for Canon.

And she has a great ass.

She looks like every other random citizen of the galaxy, in ordinary clothes you see pilots and rogues wearing, with the only thing standing out being the circuitry tattoo (which is thematically related to her specialty and possibly her past work with Droid Gotra, so it is not out of place). If that's enough for you to declare someone a "tumblr self-insert", then in the words of Obi-Wan, you are lost.

>>93457404
>Literally every character in every comic she has appeared in basically hates her
Except Luke, who believes in her even after all the shit she has done.
>>
>>93457673
My understanding is that the Empire never considered for a moment that they would be fighting against an army. In their mind, they controlled the entire Galaxy.

So all they needed was brute force, and BIG imposing threatening mechs like AT-AT's. They would tower-over and crush opposition before they became a real threat.

This is why TIE's are so shitty. Tarkin even mentions how much of a downgrade they are to V-Wings, in his book. But having an obscene amount of fighters in the air will scare away opposition, even if individually those TIE's are shoddy.

Basically Size/Quantity > Quality, because they didn't think they'd be fighting a civil war. Death Star is the primary exception, of course.

film production-wise, you'd have to go back and patch things up and shit so in a sense they cut them for consistency. Other than that the lore reasoning makes kinda-sense for a tyrannical government. Except a all overseeing and oppressive empire would expand its military not limit it.

Yeah, fuck this.

I applaud the effort for the video, but you're crazy if you think these voices/effects are better

Also not all the droids have "squeaky voices". And those "squeaky voices" have been the default B1 voice since 2005, 12 year ago.
>>
>>93457736
Yeah, the Tarkin Doctrine pretty much became the Empire's MO so there's a greater emphasis on terror and intimidation than genuine functionality. The Death Star is pretty much the ultimate symbol of that- it's an incredibly inefficient use of resources but they're fine with that because the point is to be a weapon so terrifying that nobody would dare rise up against them.

Of course as Leia points out to Tarkin, this philosophy only goes so far and it eventually leads to people refusing to be cowed and rising up. It ends up emboldening people and thus the Tarkin Doctrine helps to create the exact thing it was meant to prevent.

Bruh its the same thing but the sound effects and voices are switched

How are the old effects and voices any more "cinematically pleasing"...?

Id say this version is worse based solely on the shitty Clone voices. The DBB Clones made my day when I heard them in the trailer.
