Go on the wiki page for Marvel and DC characters and see who debuted in your year of birth.
Pick the top 5 characters that you feel are the most important and judge your birth year by the characters who were born in the same year as you
Marvel: http://marvel.wikia.com/wiki/Category:Characters_by_Year_of_Debut
DC: http://dc.wikia.com/wiki/Category:Debuts (this link is very cluttered and its probably easier just to search "Year" Character Debuts)
Just to be fair, choose only characters from the main universe, and not from adaptations like cartoons or movies, unless its a major alt universe like 2099 or watchmen.
Year: 1992
Marvel: Carnage, Nigel Higgins (British Punisher), Miguel O'Hara, Domino, Slapstick
DC: Doomsday, Renee Montoya, John Paul Valley, Stephanie Brown, Rose Wilson
Well 1992 was one edgy as hell year wasn't it? The beginning of the edge, you could say...

>Year: 1992
>>93432261
I just found out that Kingdom Come came out when I was born. I'm going to go read that.
>>93432372
That means I'm 25, dumbass
Yikes
1981:
Marvel: Rogue, Rachel Summers, Elektra Nachios, Stick, Jason Macendale
DC: Nekron, Trigon, a bunch of shit I've never heard of...and New Earth version of Omega Men
Altogether Marvel seemed to have more going on that year
>>93432551
You missed one, anon.
DC
>Bane
>Superboy
>Steel
>Eradicator
>The Phantasm
Marvel
>Genis-Vell
That's literally it, everyone else is shit
>>93432261
>1996
>Marvel: Fucking nothing, apparently
>DC: The Entirety of Amalgam
sick
>>93433003
How are you counting Amalgam for JUST DC you dufus?
>>93433055
well marvel apparently didn't want it on their wiki
why give them the benefit
>1984
Marvel gave us the Symbiote
DC gave us Constantine
>>93432261
Navigating 1993 is a pain, especially since the DC page has a ton of DCAU pages cluttering it, and Marvel is full of AUs.
But on the DC side I've got both Bane and Static, which is far better than I was expecting. I'm happy with those two.
>>93433232
To expand on this, the only notable things I see for Marvel in 93 are a bunch of shitty symbiotes that I can't imagine anyone caring about.
So DC won 1993 for sure, which is kind of ironic as I was a Marvel kid growing up.
Year: 1998
Marvel: May Parker, Everett Ross, Baymax, Martha Franklin, Nakia, Okoye
DC: Black Flash, Midnighter, Superman 1,000,000, Prometheus, Greta Hayes
Not a bad year I must say. I've never really understood the Black Flash but I like him/it a lot. Midnighter is cool love his new stuff. May reminds me that I kind of miss MC2 stuff.
>>93432261
1995

Nate Grey
Dark Beast and other AoA characters

Lots of literally-whos in this list outside of these guys. On the other hand...
>DC
Danny the Street
Delirium
Cyborg Superman
Sunshine Superman
David Knight aka Starman
Honorable Mention: http://dc.wikia.com/wiki/Grant_Morrison_(New_Earth)
Holy shit DC was rockin' this year.
>>93432261
>DC
Arm-Fall-Off-Boy, Constance d'Aramis - Crimson Fox, Dee Tyler - Phantom Lady, Eradicator, Lyrissa Mallor
>Marvel

>>93433090
Those wikis are fan-made...
>>93432261
1997
>Marvel
Kraven 2, Black Tarantula, Justine Hammer (fuck all)
>DC
All of Section 8 except Six Pack, Livewire, Arrowette, Kent Connor
Dogwelder and Bueno make these results okay in my book.
Makes me wonder how kids born in 2017 will think of heroes from this year
>>93434331
1988
>DC
V
VRIL DOX
>MARVEL
Eric Masterson (Thunderstrike)
Speedball
Terror
>>93433847
Another guy giving Amalgam to only DC. Do you even know what Amalgam was?
>>93433847
96 was also Marvel's Heroes Reborn so in a way ALL those characters were introduced that year
>>93433542
Fuck, how old ARE you?
There's literally nothing good from 1995
>>93432551
Also 1981 and my Marvel list is mostly the same.
Elektra, Rachel Summers, Rogue, Joe Chapman and I decided to count them as a duo, Avalanche and Pyro.
There was a lot from Marvel that year, mostly on the X-side. Irene Adler and Siryn are honourable mentions.
For DC, there isn't as much.
Arisia, Trigon, Nekron, Vixen and sadly, >>93432589 is probably right.
>>93435196
81 was a big X-Men year, DoFP was then.
>>93433444
I'm glad you did the work so I didn't have to.
>>93433444
New Earth Mary Marvel and some other Captain Marvel supporting characters too.
>>93434815
Not that guy, but he's not that old. Those characters debuted in 1989. That's would put him at 27/28.
>>93432261
1974
Punisher
Wolverine
Harvey Bullock
Iron Fist
OMAC (Not in your link)
>>93435039
Good may be debatable, but AoA Blink, AoA Morph, Nate Grey and Pete Wisdom debuted that year, and they're at least notable.
>>93436553
>(Not in your link)
Nm, I see him now. I'm old, computers, yadda yadda.
>1988
DC:
V for Vendetta
Plastic Man
And 23 pages of literally who? Like, Captain Nazi?
Marvel:
Mostly Parody X-men
Rating: Meh.
>>93437547
guess I should have left Plastic Man off. That was just his "new earth" debut.
Whatever, one of the few I recognized anyways.
>>93432261
>Year: 1992
Fucking spoilers mate.
>>93433444
1995 was full year god damn it.
89 pages on marvel and 22 on DC.
especially thanks Age of Apocalypse
1988 for Marvel was a shit year, I don't know any of these fuckers except fucking Speedball
>ctrl+f for year
>no one my age
dammit /co/
Sorted by... Nothing. What a cancerous goddamned mess I can't find shit in this.
>1989 Marvel
A shitload of literally who's and non-616 versions of established characters. And, apparently, the Beetle.
>1989 DC
Katar Hol, Shayera Thal, Despair of the Endless, Kay Challis, Arm-Fall-Off Boy, Lyrissa Mallor
1980 Marvel
Kitty Pryde
Emma Frost
Jennifer Walters
T'challa
The Beyonders
DC 1980
Raven
Starfire
Cyborg
Slade
Mongul
Hell of a year for waifus that's for sure.
>>93440813
the year is first so just arrange it alphabetically
>DC
Tim Drake
The Endless
Amadeus Arkham
Robert Queen
Linda Park
>Marvel
Jubilee
Bobby Kennedy (lel)
and yeah a whole lot of nothing
DC had a great year at least
>>93441594
>>93441158
>These fools don't know about Night Thrasher
> 1986
> Marvel: Eddy Brock, Nathan Summers, En Sabah Nur, John Walker, Kara Killgrave
> DC: Watchmen and Post-Crisis New Earth...so like, everyone.
That would have been a crazy year to be reading comics. If anyone who was reading at the time sees this post some reactions you had!
>>93441734
Still one of the sickest burns, god damn
1995
Marvel: only important main universe was philip urich and spidercide
Dc: a bunch of new earth characters but the important ones were savitar and mary batson.
Really not much happened besides another speedster that became a flash season villain since speedsters havent been done before.
>>93436070
I assume that guy got tripped up because you'd assume Arm Fall Off Boy was a golden age character and the original Phantom Lady was from the 40s
1993 was a good year for DC.
>Kon-El
>John Henry Irons
>Tommy motherfucking Monaghan
>Gen13
>Everyone in Milestone
>Bane
>Codpiece?
>Everyone in Wildstorm
>Ultraa
>Max Mercury
>a shitload of Green Lanterns
Marvel had a few symbiotes I've never heard of.
