But there was a guy who was the opposite of Johnny (a short, balding manlet) who tried to teach Johnny how to be a sensitive nice guy, and the manlet was also in the wrong.

I like to think that Johnny just tried too hard, made bad first impressions, and/or should have gone after different girls. There were probably legions of Velma-type girls out there who would have been happy to have him.

He was not a bad person since he never meant anyone real harm g and would even put himself in harms way at times for others, usually to impress someone or clear his name but still, but good guy is not quite right since he never really has any virtuous intentions.
