That was only retroactively added to Goku's character by the saiyan saga. It was never mentioned or brought up and just happened to be a tidbit of information that was dumped in the HUGE dump of information that let us know Goku was a Saiyan.

For the entirety of Dragonball up to that point Goku was just stupid for no reason. And the only reason the "Goku bumped his head" thing is in the story is so that Toriyama can give a reason for why Goku isn't evil or aggressive like the other saiyans.

Her relationship with Pearl seems to be heavily inspired by Revolutionary Girl Utena. Pearl is a happy slave down to her very core, and accepted Rose as her master, but Rose seems to have only wanted Pearl to learn to have a will of her own. Which isn't easy to teach her because when given a choice Pearl will always "choose" servitude anyway, and then try to pass it off as a romantic attraction or chivalrous duty. I think Rose liked Pearl and wanted what was best for her, but just didn't reciprocate those feelings in the way Pearl wanted. Rose killing herself was probably the best thing for Pearl, though it caused her to suffer immensely. I think some of the worst things she did to Pearl was keeping secrets from her and letting her believe that she didn't keep anything from her, when of course Pearl was going to have to find out eventually, long after Rose was gone to help her sort out those feelings.

And of course that's not even touching on every single one of her other relationships, where while I wouldn't call her outright abusive, she at the very least did something shitty in one way or another and almost never got called out on it.

The joke is that even if Quagmire was a shitty guy, he was still entirely right about everything he said. But that's framing it entirely around how the characters feel. And its a television show, not some real life intervention. How they feel can be part of the equation but no one is going to take a murdering rapist lecturing a guy with an inflate ego as anything other than ridiculous. Part of writing isn't just taking into account what the characters will feel, but also how the viewers will perceive and feel as well. The scene in question severely lacks consciousness in the latter. Sure, maybe it put Brian's ass in place, but it leaves a bitter taste in the viewer's mouth because what place does an unrepentant fucknut like Quagmire get off playing the bigger man?

The point is that Brian is so hard up for Quagmire to like him that when he tells him off it cuts him to the quick. I haven't really watched Family Guy in a while, so what exactly did Brian do wrong to deserve a "you suck" speech?
It seems to me the problem with any "you suck" speech in a show like Family Guy would be that you can't demand consistency or three-dimensionality from a gag character(which literally all of them are). If the show just needs characters to do something to create a plot for an episode without any consequences, I dont know how to differentiate between that and the "actual" character.
