TOP TIER COVERS
Grocery shopping must be a pain in the ass for Superman. Doesn't have time and drops them all over the ground.
>all this rebirth trash

Dc really needs to consider releasing some of their covers as posters.
>>93365856
>Wah wahh wahhh only comics from when I was a kid are allowed to be good
>>93364982
Where do the clothes go?
TITS
>>93364991
Wait the fuck, is that Manchester Black?
Is he a big deal in the new comics? I might actually start reading them if he isn't just in one and then done.
Does he have the charm he had in the animated movie? I loved him in that.
First issue from my favorite Superman run.
>Superman is a pacifist in this series and doesn't throw a single punch. I know some may see that as lame but it really spoke to me on how Supes had grown into his role.
>>93369556
The most recent arc (which just finished) is actually pretty fucking awesome. It features some of the best pages of the year.
>>93364991
This cover has some parallels with Circe vs Diana
dynamics.
Purple haired probable magic user, with their kid tagging along, against a member of the Trinity, and all that.
>>93369964
A lot of the superman written around the time of this issue was excellent. I loved it.
>>93371112
The Loeb and Kelly runs were really pretty solid. Superman Adventures was ever better. That was an awesome time for the character and DC were really making an effort to improve the quality of the books after the half-asses material they had been putting out in the 90s.
>>93371090
That's Kal's kid.
This cover is lies tho
>>93371762
Only if you take it literally. And seeing as it's an obvious allusion to Moby Dick, which is a fictional story, you'd have to be pretty dumb to take it literally. Frank's crusade is very much an all-consuming, revenge fueled obsession, just like Ahab's.
>>93366799
Isn't that the entire premise of Rebirth
>>93372188
No, the premise of Rebirth is acknowledging what made comics from when you were a kid good, not that only those can be good.
>>93372106
I wanted Frank literally fighting a gigantic whale goddammit
Posting mine before the inevitable girl in the army uniform triple post happen.
>>93372221
the premise of Rebith is not being anti-consumer faggots
>>93364982
Pretty colors, shit composition.
>>93364982
>>93364982
>>93372391
YES! Artgerm Steph covers for the win!
>>93372595
I remember buying this issue off the newsstand for the cover alone.
I don't like t-shirts with designs on them, but I'd wear a black one with this on it (minus the logo stuff).
>>93372406
Basically, yeah. Hopefully Marvel gets on it.
>>93369964
I always liked that story
>>93371608
If you could recommend specific issue numbers it would be super appreciated. Also when you say Superman Adventures, do you mean the web-comics, the adaptation of the DCAU Superman, or something else entirerly.
>>93372391
wat.
>>93372903
It sure did make Superman actually fighting bad guys out to be a real asshole move, which I wasn't fond of. The Golden Age stories are incredibly heroic, the modern age Superman getting some of that kick would have been a good thing. Instead we just got more Superman Jesus as he tries to be the Messiah without hurting anybody's feelings.
>>93373011
Not that Anon, but Loeb and Kelly's run were very late 1990s and early 2000s (I want to say to 2002, maybe 2003, but I might be a little bit early). I think for Superman Adventures HE might have meant the comic versions of the Superman-The Animated Series, although he could just as easily mean v1 of The Adventures of Superman.
I doubt he means the digital first AoS. That's like a decade after Loeb/Kelly.
>>93372627
I only have that issue as well. I can't find the other issues anywhere. :(
>>93373104
There's a dude who always posts three covers to a book that are just RL women in scantily clad army clothes. Everyone time someone asks them why the cover is notable, they reply by calling the person a faggot
>>93373448
post the covers
>>93364982
You know, I tried to get into Rebirth Superman because I really wanted to like it, but I just can't. It feels so saccharine to me, like the writer (Tomasi I believe) has to have a cutesy father and son or husband and wife moment every other page. It makes me sound like a jaded prick, I know, but it just doesn't work.
The thing is I don't even like edgier DC Rebirth books like Batman and Deathstroke either. Idk I was just bummed how much I wanted to like it but just...don't.
ANIMATED
>>93373629
i kind of agree with you. at one point he gets sucked into something with a bunch of souls and that's the point i dropped off.
they were even like "hey thats a bad guy that is helping us!" and "OH NO the badguy turned BAD"
and its anyone's guess what's going on in deathstroke. that book is a mess of plotlines.
>>93373629
You need to pick up the second trade (or the issues that make it up). The family dynamic is part of what is new to the Superbooks, the closest that this ever happened were some of the Chris Kent (pre all the New Krypton BS) issues, and a some of the issues where Kara was staying with Ma and Pa in Smallville, and that was more generational/extended family.
You should give it another crack.
>>93374524
I'm willing to give it a go, my LCS has a sale on Rebirth trades right now so I'll check it out.
>>93364982
>>93374591
This image is genuinely terrifying.
>>93374504
If that's what you think about Deathstroke, I recommend reading it again
>>93364982
Lol
>>93374805
Is it just me or are dicks legs really short?
>>93364982
Legitimately surprised at the lack of Legion or Del Mundo covers overall.
>>93377125
In the Morrison run where he ends up being Batman for a bit, he's drawn quite a bit shorter - which surprised me.
>>93374773
I've bought a few and some others I've gotten from my library. DC has even put some of their stuff on digital library loan (but most of THAT is older) so even if you don't have a library with GNs and TPBs, you can sign up for a city in your state and get stuff on line. I'm in Southern California but still use the SF library card I had when I was there a few years back.
>>93364982
Starman covers are great and overlooked.
>>93372391
That run was terrible and was saved by the covers.
>>93373629
It's definitely overly sentimental, and not even in a natural/organic/sincere/believable/real kind of way, but it's still a cool series overall.
>>93373629
>>93374504
>Those who dislike Superman also dislike Deathstroke
Well, the problem definitely is you. Luckily, America and Gwenpool exist for you.
>>93378402
well its not that superman or deasthstroke are bad or that i dislike them. i just dont understand the rave reviews. keep in mind ive only read the first trades of each. maybe the second trades get better?
the best part of deathstroke isnt even with deathstroke, its the part with batman and robin. all the shit at the beginning is incomprehensible. i definitely need to reread it or im just an idiot cause it just seemed like a jumble of half developed storylines all done in a nonlinear fasion to make it LOOK good but just turned into a mess.
>>93378402
there's nothing lucky about that
that benefits no one
>>93376863
I've noticed that for whatever reason Rebirth has had better variants than regular covers the vast majority of the time.
>>93368794
