Who knew a comic that is essentially a Galactus story could be so good? I wish this book got more credit. Maybe they need to throw in Wolverine or fucking Spiderman so the causuals will pick it up for once. The books with interesting plots and great writing are always ignored at Marvel. It sucks.

another thing to add to yours. Ego's very early appearances were similar to how he appeared on GotGV2. It was only later writers who devolved him into a simple living planet type creature.

Mostly because they never really read his early appearances.

It's the first time I've seen him doing it since supposedly he shouldn't have that form and just appears as the lower beings think he would look like
>>
>>93360731
I've seen him take off his helmet a couple times, but never his armor. Presumably the "appears as lowering beings perceive him" is the result of the armor while Galan is his "true" form.

Alternatively, Galan is how Ego perceives him since they're similar in nature.

Latest solicitation sounds like a final issue, but it did not say FINAL ISSUE at the end. Then again, when was the last time a Marvel solicitation had "FINAL ISSUE" in it? Usually they just disappear from the listings and someone has to ask the writer to confirm
>>
>>93362699
Well, Tony is presumably coming back in October for the Iron Man legacy numbering, meaning there won't be any room for Iron Doom anymore. 12 issues would put it at two trades so it makes sense for it to end there.
>>
>>93362699
Speaking of that, has anyone asked Ewing why ultimates 2 is not in the september solicitations?
>>
>>93362699
>>93362906

In that thread wasn't there an interview with him about Ultimates #100?

>CBR: Finally, in August you’re celebrating a big milestone issue with the release of Ultimates #100. How does it feel to be given a chance to tell this tale? And what can you tell us about this story? The cover and the solicits for the issue suggest you’ll be celebrating the legacy of both the Marvel and Ultimate Universe incarnation of the titular team, correct?

>Ewing: For a start – it’s thirty pages long. And those pages are jam-packed, full to the gills. Dropping in August, #100 falls pretty close to Kirby’s 100th, and I wanted to celebrate that with something big and mad and wonderful, pushing everything forward into new territory, new blazing ideas. And it’s pretty close to my 40th as well, so it’s in a position to act as the culmination of a particular phase of my work. So it’s where pretty much everything we’ve been doing on the book – as well as things I’ve been doing on other books – builds to a crescendo. It’s quite a special issue for me, all told, and I’d like to make it special for all the readers as well. And on that note – yep, the original Ultimates, minus Thor, are all back, hale and hearty. We’ll find out how that could possibly be in the months to come, and it should hopefully make for some fun moments – but that’s just one detail of what’s going to be a very big issue for Ultimates fans and cosmic Marvel fans everywhere.

>I’ll finish up with my usual big thank you to all those who are buying and reading my work – it really means a lot that you’ve kept up with this, and I hope you’ll stick with me in the future.
>>
>>93362951
It really feels like a stretch considering that issue the 100th one, since the last two Ultimates series have nothing at all to do with the ones that came earlier
Obviously they are going to do it for the extra bucks, but...

Ego Prime was already a thing before the movie, but now the whole planet is humanoid
Still, i think they made Ewing use him since the movie is out this is out of question. Yet the issue was great
>>
>>93363461
The Ultimate Universe didn't "merge" with 616. The Ultimate Universe was destroyed and a handful of Ultimate characters are stuck on 616 as multiversal refugees. Miles is just a weird exception, but that's the result of Molecule Man working his reality warping magic, not a merge of universes.

Nah, you're wrong sadly, he was a plot device in those books. I have read them. Cosmic marvel is my thing. Ewing has made him interesting and given him depth as a character. Not worth road devouring McGuffin who only fears the ultimate nullifer.
>>
>>93363528
>Still, i think they made Ewing use him

I think that's a ridiculous assumption. People gotta stop acting like comic characters showing up in comics is automatically synergy just cause they were in a movie.

Recreation.

Anything that didnt went to prime earth or merged into it like kong or miles probably won't be a part of it.

They're solicted as outside help, meaning seperate from the multiverse.

You do know how editorial works right? I'm not trying to be snarky or anything. their job is to literally pass up the requests from the team working on it and pass down the demands that need to be checked off. I'm not saying ego is out of place here really but considering the last time anyone used him was probably that really bizarre Thane story with the flashback, now is the perfect time to start shoehorning him in
>>
>>93364221
You're right, he's not out of place here, he doesn't have any overt similarities to the movie version outside of being Ego, and he clearly has a purpose for the story. Somehow I doubt editorial came down from on high and said "You have to use dedicate a whole issue to Ego the living planet in your non-GOTG comic that hardly anyone reads."

Anyway, ain't trying to argue at you or nothin, just stating my opinion. For my money I couldn't care less about the synergy behind the curtain as long as the writing is appropriate.
>>
>>93364350
Nah man, this ain't a rumble or anything. I think it comes across as okay because Al Ewing is a competent writer. I can't speak with any sort of clarity on what goes on up there now, but prior to the buyout my only friends were pretty much all interning there or associate editors, the characters all get divided up into different offices and much haranguing goes on over who can use what. the main contention back then wasn't making someone use something, it was more, you can't use something because it will fuck up my story. After the buyout and the mass layoff things really did start coming down from up on high that you must in fact use this thing. It's not always movie synergy.
>>

I think the problem is that Ewing's tone makes it difficult to properly match Hickman's characterization of a self-righteous, condescending sociopath with a dislike for social pageantry whose vices ultimately defeat him. He draws more from Fialkov's version, who is much more of a talkative bully who completely eschews any facade, even that of being humanoid, but that is far less compelling without the physical aspect.
Surprisingly enough, Bendis' interpretation might end up being the better of the two, but this will entirely depend on his motivations, which is not Bendis' best field.

It's the most Ewingest day of the month. Maybe Marvel figures that way they can get Ewing fans to pick up all 3 books when they go into their LCS. Which might have some merit to it. I'm not so hot on USAvengers, but I ended up grabbing the latest issue of USA off the shelves while I was going in to pick up Royals and Ultimates from my pull today on a whim.

Unfortunately, USAvengers kinda continues to disappoint. Which is weird since I feel like I should like it since it's a continuation of New Avengers and I loved New Avengers. I think it just lacks the energy of NA. Like it's just kinda going through the motions until the inevitable cancellation. It's not bad by any means, it's just kinda nothing special.
>>
>>93366927

>>93368946
>No Maker
>No Songbird
I'm not surprised it's more dull than New Avengers.
>>93369021
He came from the need for The Ultimates to have a second accomplishment.
>>
>>93369021
He's supposed to be somewhat mysterious and unknowable, but some time before CWII Ewing explained that the macronaut perceived 616 in the same way humans perceived the microverse, so he's probably from a higher dimension where everyone is a giant.
>>
>>93369121
So the Macroverse
>>
>>93369021
He's an explorer from the Macroverse. He's basically the equivalent of when Ant-man goes into the Microverse. He's from a "larger" universe which the Marvel Universe is inside of in the same way that the microverse is a smaller dimension for the Marvel Universe, and shrunk down so small that he ended up in the MU.
>>
>>93369170
Kinda weird to put him on the same scale as Galactus, Ego, Shaper and Psi-Hawk if he's really just Super Ant-Man
>>
>>93368939
Ewing is his anti-thesis of course he hates him.

an attempt was made
>>
>>93369214
Well, at one point they said that his gravitational pull was so vast that it could collapse the universe onto itself from his presence, and the only reason he's able to be in the MU is because the Ultimates figured out some super-science way to fix that problem.

In a worst case scenario, the Infinaut could probably enter the First Firmament, shut off the mechanism for keeping him "safe" and collapse the First Firmament into himself.
>>
>>93369214
The scale's pretty screwy. Galactus is a universal entity, but he's acting on a multiversal scale.
>>
>>93368946
I feel the book being brought down by the event. Which, unlike Ultimates, kinda needs to since America is the theme.

Which is a shame since before it, felt like fun times were ahead
>>
>>93369214
You can thank the Ultimates for that. They shrinked him down before his mass size could collapse their universe.

Ewing's tie-in's are pretty weak. There's potential there, but it feels like he does not want to work with the event.

Yeah, the roster might have something to do with it. I don't really care all that much about Toni or Squirrel Girl, and Enigma is much less interesting to me than POD. General Maverick is fun and all, but he isn't really enough to carry the book and DaCosta's schtick isn't really as fun while being hamstrung by bureaucracy compared to his mad villainy shit in NA.

It's weird, his tie ins to Infinity, Time Runs Out, CW2 and even Standoff all had so much more oomph.

But his heart just doesn't seem to be in the Secret Empire tie ins

Civil War II's tie-in was the weakest . There was so much to work with considering what Galactus had shown them, but most of it just ended up being a punch-out with Thanos.

>He came from the need for The Ultimates to have a second accomplishment.

He was first mentioned in Mighty Avengers, quite some time before Ultimates.

Cause Owen Reece is human and he made the place.

>mail slot
How else is he supposed to get his mail? A mailbox would be inconvenient for the NEET shut-in lifestyle.

>window
Likewise, it's for peeking out and seeing whose at your door.
