There have been many different origins, such as the father thing, and him saying Aquaman is trying to keep "His people" down, and of course the autism thing. /Co/ eventually came to the consensus that it doesn't really matter and Black Manta is more a force of nature.

Some heroes should just have a "two arch-enemies" system instead of exactly one of them always stealing the limelight.
