If by "someone with a similar power" you mean "Everyone else who can use Hokuto" then you have a case. But in those cases unless he's clearly superior like with Jagi, he gets his shit wrecked immediately half the time. His fight with fake Toki until he realized what was going on being one example, everything with Raoh came down to just a slug fest, his fights against the demons came down to a really specific style vs style thing, and he didn't really beat Baran.

I think the real kicker is that Kenshiro's main weak point is Arial combat. That is to say he can do it, but that was Toki's thing. Meanwhile Karate Kid can FLY and has mastered relevant martial arts. Kenshiro meanwhile literally never won an arial match, if only because they only happened like two or three times across HnK.

Anybody that says KK wins over Kenshiro has never read or seen HnK. It's pretty much as simple as that. The only way you can convince yourself that Kenshiro would lose is if you have only the most basic and superficial understanding of how incredibly fucked up and OP'd Hokuto Shinken is and how unrelentingly unstoppable Kenshiro is.

In HnK2, Ken flat out completely died. No heart beat, no pulse, nothing. Gone. He was then dragged through a barren wasteland for days in a coffin by a character named Shachi. Then, when an old man's life was endangered by a pack of goons, Ken's innate awareness of suffering and general compassion resurrected him. He then immediately confronted the goons, took a full blast of energy that is supposed to blow up a man, forced a waterfall to push its water skyward through sheer force of his ki, and then disintegrated the lead goon without ever touching him. The guy was just leaping in the air, Ken yelled, and then he exploded.

How the fuck can you ever defend against a force of destruction like Ken? Karate Kid would be obliterated.

In all fairness, that Hulk vs Bats battle was late-70s, early-80s, a time when the Hulk's power level had not escalated to the crazy levels it became later on.

And the story clearly stated the kick did no damage itself, it was intended to cause a reflex gasp of breath at a time when Bats had tossed down a bat-sleepgas-capsule. Hulk breathed out but wasn't hurt, when he breathed back in... he sucked in a room full of sleep gas and toppled over.

On one side, sleep gas probably wouldn't even bother the current Hulks, but on the other side I give Hulk credit for actually realizing he needed to hold his breath. That knockout gas stunt had been used on him a half-dozen times before the Hulk vs Bats comic and the writer actually had the sense to let Hulk learn from those recent incidents.
