I'd feel less stung if it was a conscious sacrifice as opposed to a punishment delivered in the epilogue.

And I'd feel less stung had it been Jack that makes the sacrifice after leaving Ashi with their unborn child. At least that sets up a spinoff and is bittersweet in the end. UNLESS Genndy foresaw that outcome and pulls a fucking Naruto in leaving the son as an orphan. But we all know that series ended.

I'm frankly satisfied with how it ended. Was it perfect? No, but considering the limiting factor of having only 10 episodes to work with, they did a pretty darn good job. This is what everybody really wanted: a good solid ending that didn't botch the lore. Season 5 accomplished that and gave us a few more cool fight scenes to go along with it.

There's only one part of this that irks me, even though it's a cool continuation of the shows adventures being dreams/stories of Jack.
The dream that he has after re-encountering Ashi (where he ends up killing an assassin with her face) kinda wigged me out because it makes him seem a bit psycho and out of character for this Jack.
It might just be me overthinking it, but the thought of someone having a dream involving murdering the cute girl he just met kinda weirds me out.

it's not even close to a big enough issue to me that it negatively impacts the rest(which I am wholeheartedly enjoying), it just kinda stuck out to me.

Well the idea behind that bit is that, while Jack himself is unaware of it, Ashi is AKu's daughter. It makes sense that the daughter of the man who destroyed his family would also be out to get him, even though that's obviously not the case. And while it doesn't make sense for Jack to be dreaming about something he doesn't know, I chalk that up to the mysteries of the unconscious mind. Dreams are weird, it works for me.

Eh here. I don't want to say it was unsatisfying because, as jarring as the final episode was, it was still a conclusion to Samurai Jack, which most people including myself gave up hope of ever seeing. That final scene was beautiful, and a fitting end to such a cinematic story.
