Worst timeline, bros
>>

Good, those comics were retarded and cringy as fuck.
>>
>>93317820
Didn't he go to jail or something?
>>
>>93317832
I'm sending this to Leafy for him to cringe at. There's not enough ironic depression humor. It's so cringey.
>>
>>93317908
Nah, that was some asshat who used his art style for a comic about exposing himself to his sister.
>>
>>93318012
expose himself how?

Also what happened to the real guy? Did he just vanish?

>guy takes his dick out in front of his little sister and asks her to touch it

>does a self-pitying autobiographical strip about it in 3ab's style
As for 3ab himself, no idea. A lot of old 4chan seems to have moved on.
>>
>>93317820
The [s4s] creativity comic was pretty impressive.
>>
I read on 4chanhouse that he had changed his pseudonym various times, and that sometimes comics in his style get posted. He's probably still around, but he doesn't want to draw attention.

4chan is a massive monkey sink, i think this site hasn't been in the green for years.

you'd need to do a massive, insane amount of jewing to make this site anywhere close to profitable.
>>
>>93318085
Weaver's still here, he's content to swim in the trash and occasionally visit /tg/ and /qst/.

But yeah, a lot of holdouts from the very early days have all moved on, to the point that I'd be surprised if more than three people in this thread were around back when Habbo Hotel raids were still happening.
>>
>>93318614

Friend, how long have you been here?

Because prior to a certain point we weren't "the good guys." We weren't anyone and thus we were enemies to furries, SJWs and stormfags alike.

Now half of the site is unironically stormfront and the other half is too obsessed with fatass feminists in order to post good content anymore.
>>
>>93318291
Anon, its always been like this
>>
>>93318667
It was in the green when moot left and had enough saved up to sustain itself for a couple years. Then mook fucked everything up and the jlist ads disappered.

I'll never understand why he hasn't disabled phoneposting yet. Removing easymodo ban evasion would reduce shitposting/trolling by a metric fuckton -> less bandwidth usage, which we're apparently using too much of.

Because guys who have been on 4chan maybe a year think they're in any way justified in judging content from an era before their precious Reddit gave them a springboard to jump over to the infamous "four chan". too bad /pol/ already won.

/pol/ is more relevant and representative of the place 4chan occupies in the internet and society at large than any other board ever did, far surpassing the old 4chan "hacker pedophile den" reputation, it's also the biggest and fastest board even compared to /b/. Despite politics being an annoying intrusion into the environments of the other boards and at glance being wholesomely unwelcome to 4chan, /pol/ still managed to amass a gigantic userbase of involved and motivated users.

by all intents and purposes, 4chan now exists for /pol/ and the other boards are the side show.

/pol/ is a astroturfing dumping ground for the more successful and larger the_donald subreddit, you are delusional if you think thats not the case.

Tumblr is literally 49% meme dumps and 50% porn and 1% triggered snowflakes you faggots think represent the site. I'd even say that tumblr is probably like 90% porn, its pretty much used like the western version of pixiv at this point.
Most of this sites problem is the fact the guy in charge of it barely speaks fucking english and moderators do fuckall to curb phoneposting shitposters.

I think you're taking away the wrong message from this. The election was just the most recent in a long line of activist faggotries that led to media exposure, each being traceable to a particular board. And so, just like /b/ and /v/ before it, /pol/ is the current face of this site. To that end, it's very much "representative" of modern 4chan.
>>
>>93321881
There's metadata inside phone browsers that identifies them as such. It's how websites recognize whether or not to use their mobile versions.
To be fair, it's possible to spoof it and force your phone to show as a pc but that's something that I imagine most phoneposters can't manage.
>>
>>93322100

Reddit is more of a home for astroturfing than /pol/. It's impossible to do it on /pol/ because you will be called out immediately and it's impossible to downvote or otherwise manipulate an anonymous imageboard. You get trolling on /pol/ that resembles astroturfing but it's just not the same.

Does anybody else get a sort of melancholy knowing they came onto this site well past its prime and all of the classic shit has already passed? I only started using 4chan regularly around the gamer-gate era (I swear on my honor I wasn't involved in that shit, I barely even go on /v/), so I really only get to experience a site in decline.

Now that I think of it, the signs of the current state of things were already apparent, I just didn't see them. People were already calling moot a cuck all throughout gamer-gate and afterwards, every time he didn't bend over backwards for them. We all talk about the 2016 election as the end but that time was a big piece of ominous bullshit. That was when everything became overtly political, its pretty much what >>93322201 said.
>>
>>93322222
You can still manipulate an imageboard plenty, but you're right that it's much more difficult than a place like Reddit, which has made an industry out of skewing the data in their clients' favour.

Are you trying to mock a board for affecting the real world? /co/ can barely even get the attention of comic book or cartoon artists. The fact that /pol/ is turning the mainstream press on it's head, getting civic nationalists to congregate and got mentions by Donald Trump is not only a sign that it's very relevant but also way more than a smear story on Fox News. You don't have to like /pol/ but denying it's relevant or powerful is just lying to yourself.

Longcat... is... l o n g

The memes really grew up with the users. Obviously there's still a lot of cat memes hanging around now, but this kind of inane stuff was 90% of the memetic production at a point.

If I had to half-ass an analysis, it began with cute/random/stupid things, then came the self-pity/slice of life (rage comics/advice animals/...), then 4chan & co began to believe they had some influence on the real world with stuff like project chanology (perhaps because the real world began to think 4chan/... had some influence, see moot person of the year). Which leads us to the present time, where people try to meme the most serious things we can find (elections, money (dogecoin), big societal subjects...)

As individual board, maybe.

Problem is, 4chan have several boards focused on videogames in their different aspects, and /v/ on it's own is fast enough to rival /pol/ on speed and content. Combining their traffic, I would bet we could say 4chan is more a videogame board than a politics one.

And then, we haven't talked about the different anime and manga boards. Once again, /a/ alone is big enough to give /v/ and /pol/ a run for their money.

I never understood why people tend to believe a single loud screeching board should be representative of the entire site. Is like thinking because the retard cousin does a scene in the mall every week, the entire family is a bunch of retards as well. No, having a family member with special needs is as representative of the whole as /pol/ is representative of 4chan.

I feel you, brother. I've been here just over a decade and the degeneration of this site is genuinely saddening to me. I honestly wonder what will happen when 4chan truly and completely dies, with no chance of revival. I mean, when 4chan died in like 08 or 09 (it's been so long I don't remember when it was) everyone migrated to 7chan until it came back, and then Gamergate gave infinitechan it's day in the sun (even though 4chan wasn't actually dead during that time), so would we all just go to one of the other offshoots? We've been here over ten years, image board "culture" is embedded into our souls at this point, so I can't imagine we could just up and say "Well, that was fun, time to be a normalfag."

Even when Chanology kicked off and got media coverage, we figured people wouldn't want to bother with us because we had a reputation of being the "vilest website on the internet". It was only after we started seeing a surge of newfags that we realized how fucked we were getting, and Gamergate completely blew the doors wide open, turning 4chan into "that neat place that's like Reddit without accounts".

I could never bring myself to go to cripplechan on a regular biasis. Just knowing it was an offshoot where all of the Gamergate faggots congregated made me never want to use it often. Fucking GG faggots were the final death knell in this site. moot hated that shit for a reason, a good reason. This site was never meant to be about bullshit political crusades, Chanology, Gameegate bullshit, or otherwise.

Fuck those people.

As for an alternative, sadly, there doesn't seem to be any that moves fast enough to satisfy me. I come here regularly, I post, and sometimes I find myself hating the shitty threads I'm in. But they move fast enough, they actually have info I might not find about my interests elsewhere.

It's strange how /v/ no longer produces any content and the entire board has gradually lost it's relevance and presence on the rest of the site

Even /a/ doesn't use /v/ermin as an insult anymore, it's like the community of /v/ vanished
>>
this was very nice to remember, though i forgot the reason behind it.
would've been cool to see /a/ vs /co/ sometime down the line

>>

I wonder what's caused /v/ to be gradually broken down into nothingness as a community?

I mean it's just a sad video game board with no personality, no character, no nothing, not any different from old GameFaqs forums.

Weaver is not 3ab, but he's still very influential in terms of early 4chan, since he's the one who created Epic Fail Guy and thus the Guy Fawkes mask meme. Also Boxdog and Ruby Quest, but those aren't as infamous.

It produced a virtual tsunami of newfags that immediately colonised as part of the "movement" that was going on. Things turned bad, then worse when Moot decided he was going to try and stop it, then even worse when it was found out he was actively taking sides instead of being neutral. Mass bans happened, many people left due to feelings of betrayal and disgust at what was happening.

The board is now mostly filled with newfags, shit mods, unconfirmed marketers and angry idiots screaming about /pol/ and sjws. I hate it.

>Boxdog
Man, one of the big moments for me in realizing that this site had truly changed was when people in some thread didn't know what boxdog was. I think it was a picture of Katia, Tomoko, and boxdog hanging out and they kept asking what boxdog was.

I got here in early '05 and one of the more interesting things for me is how much posting styles have changed. The vast, vast majority of posts in any given thread used to just be variations of "X Y is X", "Epic", "Fail", "Win", "LOL" and various early meme posting. I feel like if you regularly posted like that today you'd get banned for low-quality posting. Also for the record, the first big notable influx of new people was the late 2007-2010 "Endless summer". I still consider those to be the worst days of 4chan, particularly the peak of it in summer of 2009. Sure today's 4chan's kind of bad in some ways, but that particular era was really awful.
>>
>>93335156
You see, activists always hijack any community they are let go unto.
When a community gets big there always come people around that want to use the size of that community to their own benefits. That is why old-4chan teached their users what "personal army requests" are and why they are to be ignored, because they knew that eventually the site would be hijacked by those kinds of people and that is also why moot banned them under >>>/global/rules/4
>>
>>93335156

I'm not going to demur and claim 4chan's racism was always totally ironic until /pol/ came along but god damn did stormfags take the opportunity to turn a site full of nigger jokes into a site full of people that can't shut the fuck up about how much they hate niggers and kebabs and have to shit up Ms. Marvel threads to do so.

I used to be able to enjoy almost any thread on /co/. Now there's always the chance some faggot will start bitching about Strong Independent Women or jews or something and then it turns into 50+ posts of arguing and then the thread gets deleted.

In a better world, /co/ loli threads are still allowed and every /pol/ poster's captchas are designed to fail every time.
>>
>>93326240
Regret? That was the golden era of 4chan autism.
>>
>>93334983
Any time a biard tries to go political for whatever braindead reason, and GG was braindead as fuck, it causes a great schism in the board or 4chan as a whole. Retards start clinging to the new political bowel movement and start spreading, trying to indoctrinate others on their home board and on other boards. they completely fail to understand that this site is not meant for political recruitment bullshit. Usually, the political bullshit outgrows 4chan, like GG and Chanology did, and it goes out into the wider internet. This attracts newfags who think this site is made for bullshit like that.
>>

Personally for me what spelled the end of /v/ was whenever that mod made a sticky for "rustled jimmies". It had literally nothing to do with video games and a mod there actively promoted it. It was like he was giving the thumbs up to non-/v/-related content.

It's really sad for me going to /v/ now and seeing console war threads and people literally saying "I'm going to buy -console- because I bought the other ones even if it's total garbage." One thing that /v/ used to pride itself on was how it didn't have blind brand loyalty and now the place reeks of it. I only go there for major events like E3 but they've just been regurgitating the same memes for years now and every year seems to get worse and worse in terms of quality posted.
>>
>>93335227

Nah man, I was there on /pol/ when the Moot talks to /pol/ during his great leave. I remember because I asked Moot to sincerely permaban my IP, trip and Machine address so I could be free of 4chan and he replied with. 'You're here forever.'.

There was this artist by the name of Ben Garrison that /pol/ memed into popularity for being anti semetic, a successful "Dangerous Terrorist Sameul Al-Hyde" of an older day. Anyway, Ben Garrison (at the time) hated 4chan for soiling his good name and thought Moot to be the Leader of the Troll Squad.

So when GG and The Fappening happened, /pol/ had a field day and found out some info on Moot. Turns out Moot was being a beta to a lady friend who may or may not have connections to Zoe Quinn, and /pol/ went "Cuck crazy" and called Moot "Luggage Lad" to the point where Ben Garrison made an image of Moot as a Duck holding luggage with the words "Cuck a duck".

Moot was so butthurt that he shut down /pol/ for an entire week before deciding to leave.

It was an interesting time.

>>93334927
You say that, but to be honest /v/ would have been officially crippled if it wasn't split. It has far more users than every board that isn't /b/, making it the 2nd fastest on the site.
If generals stayed there, nothing would work. The generals would die before post limit and have maybe 1/5th the number maximum that they do on /vg/, and normal threads would be pushed off constantly due to the generals just being there (which would go far faster than they do on /vg/ since people would want them to stay up).

/v/ would have just become a faster-moving /vg/ with a few short-lived threads every now and then which is why /vg/ was created in the first place.

GG was more of a lead-in to Chanology 2.0 than Chanology's direct successor. Cancerous as it may have been, GG created momentum whereas Chanology destroyed it. One died as cringe material while the other was ironically absorbed into a larger narrative and transformed into a pseudo-Anonymous 2.0.

So what we can all conclude from this is that the enforced politization of all media, first initiated by SJWs preaching feminism to unreceptive communities and later in retaliation by what is now known as the alt-right which rose as a reaction to the aggression of the other side, has poisoned all discourse and sense of community?

Yeah, I can see that.

I said this in another thread, but the best way to administer chemo to 4chan is to break functionality of the mobile website and to anull/deprecate all the APIs that allow third-party apps to function.

Force people to visit this site on their desktops and you'll see people leaving in droves.

Alternatively, just make a 4chan clone that is mobile-only, clean and pristine, and run by a diverse group of people. Then steal everybody's credit card information.

If you want to see the board that still does shit like old /b/ did, you gotta check in with /pol/. >>93339172

>Why?
Because they kind of lost their soure of posters? I mean, everyone on 4chan has come in through /b/. Nowadays, the topics are distilled into numerous other boards and what's left for /b/ is nothing.
>>
>>93322262
As a 2009 fag I literally have no idea why you would be here, especially on /co/. At least I have the excuse of nostalgia. /co/ died over 2010-2012. It used to be fun and creative. People would make retarded OC shit like /co/meleon semi regularly and just for a laugh. Toons were great, older AT, early gumball, action cartoons hadn't been killed off. MCU hadn't ruined comics for everyone (implying it wasn't the beginning of the end) or made posters bitter and cynical. It hadn't made the publishers "aware" of their "online demographics" so as to pander to tumblr.
Hell, in retrospect even the rise and fall of Horse was an experience.
What's left to us? Netflix shows suck, DD was a fluke. MCU films are trash. Marvel Comics are trash. DC films are beyond fucking awful and the comics are passable. Action toons are fucking dead. Gumball is ending and toons in general are being parsed out for live action or being made into TTG 15 minute bites. The board is dying with its content. The site is dying with ITS content. Making 'nerd shit' economically viable was a mistake. Popularity and financial interests have poisoned the well.

I was there.

Tripfags from /b/ killed the board. Your average /b/tard didn't do much, just shitpost when the site was down, but some infamous tripfags stayed on the board and completely ruined it. I have no idea how given that the mods purged /v/ and other boards of tripags during the same year, but for some reason completely ignored /x/ because moot only really browsed /v/ and it got disproportionately more attention than the rest of the site because of that

Not just any tripfags, one these guys managed to make every thread on the front page about him. They just didn't stop fucking with the palce until it was virtually depopulated. 2011 /x/ was a ghost town compared to 2008 and 2009.

Listen newfag, you may not realize it but the 3-4 years before you showed up were some of the best goddamn years of the site. Raids were done solely because we were bored and we wanted to fuck with people, and we all fucking hated each other and loved each other's company at the exact same time.

Trolling was just called "trolling" instead of "shitposting" because it hadn't taken off on the rest of the internet, we were able to be the weird idiots that the rest of the net would instantly ban, and we had fucking fun doing it. 4chan was not "Reddit + anonymity", it was its own culture with its own jokes and its own way of thinking. Nowadays, thanks to the influx of new users coming in from all over the net, we're a watered down version of the site we once were, and these people have the fucking audacity to claim that we have no right to be upset by their invasions because that stupid fucking "muh sekrit club" argument.

Closest you can get is browsing an oldfag's /x/ folder. Some old communities / ibs that derived from /x/ are still hosted in a state of half death, with most links 404ing

The SCP Foundation has some old guard with fond memories of /x/, but that's it, almost all the userbase is too new to remember the board.

If I had my old HDD available I'd link my folder with basically every classic pasta and popular pics of the time.

>>93342536
>>93342545

I could be wrong. The IRC snippets I've read from him have him ranting about /v/ 90% of the time, at least in the last years before leaving. I think moot's interest changed with time, from /a/ to /v/. Don't mean he paid no attention to other boards, but that he mainly judged the state of 4chan from /v/. Not to mention that the board got several spin off and attempts to improve it compared to other the big players like /b/ and /a/

From where I see it, /a/ became more the ward of kinomod, modcat and other staff members by the 10s, give or take

it only sucks big time now because of kids and by extension, tumblr, shoehorning their shit here, /co/ at least, which is why waifuing is prominent here and elsewhere, tumblr using 4chan's love of female characters to make them do what they want (praise a female character, discuss a certain series, etc)

but again, it'd all be better if somehow all kids stayed out of the pool

i've only used /co/ mainly though, and of course more kids would be here and maybe /v/ more than any other board just to discuss their favorite cartoon because tumblr blogs aren't enough

You can't make those kinds of changes because the problem isn't with the site itself, it's with internet culture as a whole. Blocking phoneposters and shit might mitigate it somewhat, but the ideal 4chan cannot ever happen again because 4chan is now just another faux-social media site, albeit not the kind you'd share with other people. This was the exact reason I left like 10 months after I found out about it. I said some anime was shit to a guy who kept saying it in every fucking thread about how based it was and then like 6 months later said something like "this VA is great" and some other fag said "COMING FROM THE GUY WHO ONCE SAID THE ANIME HE VOICED IN SUCKED" and it started a cringe war with "he really said that? *checks his history* oh wow, that's messed up!!"

>>
>>93343040

But raiding was always a shitfest that while hilarious at times it always ended in massive flamewars and problems for the site. Or you forget it was and still is a ban on sight topic?

I mean, on what fucking site you would think it's ok to raid your own boards?

>>93343065

>Implying that /b/ was EVER fucking good

I didn't say that mate.

>>93343088
Honestly, I wish the staff and the userbase interacted more. The iron curtain shouldn't extend to the point the mods aren't even allowed to answer questions.

Ultimately the biggest problem the site has is extreme contrarianism. No matter what the mods do somebody who is very possibly mentally ill will think it ruined 4chan and shitpost for years about it demanding they revert it. But that cannot be truly solved. Nutcases will always latch onto the smallest thing and create whole narrative, then complain about it.
>>
>>93335097
I still wish /mlpol/ was kept instead of being reverted to /pol/. It got rid of the redditors that fell for obvious bait and threw autistic tantrums, and since it was a new board the algorithms got fucked up and the bots didn't know it existed so they couldn't shill there.

>>
>>93343411
I always saw 4chan as extremely contrarian. For example, as soon as something becomes popular, people here complain that it was ruined by normies. It's not something completely negative, since it encourages OC.
>>
>>93343455
Yes and fuck you if you take it at face value just to say insults back. It's the same as Reddit, think on it before being a retard.

Reddit has specific styles of humor, interests, and posting, Tumblr does too, sometimes intertwined, but usually like you said, SJW oriented. It doesn't mean that's ALL they're used for, it's what they're known for because it's the general majority.

4chan used to have a more unique identity than just "dude why isn't wonder woman fucking mary jane RIGHT NOW" and "what does [board] think of this thing?" with a female attached in the OP for easy catchings. Since about 2010 as is the meme goes, it's gotten much more one sided.

I don't know what happened to the place, but at some point they started drinking their own Kool-Aid, and it became the Coast to Coast AM call-in board where people rant about chakras and shadow people.
>>
One of the things I don't like about double chan is the large number or boards, I feel that having a lot of boards separates the userbase thin. That and they somehow made the 4chan interface even uglier.
>>
>>93343523
>as soon as something becomes popular, people here complain
Yes because it invites fandoms here and they get autistic, and since usually fanbases and their shows are seen as equals, whether or not they are, it causes a shitstorm of "wow this show is actually bad, it took the fandom to show that to me"

and you have some shows that pander to the fandom to where it's right to associate them at the same time

can't speak for every instance but "normies ruined this series" can stem from when a series becomes a big hit because of normies and they focus on a certain aspect to make it the biggest, which the series puts focus on as well because that's what sells. Like lore and forced feels for example, or gay shipping or whatever

>>

>What the fuck happened to /b/?
Specialty boards. /b/ was a popular meme foundry because it was a melting pot for every topic that didn't have a board. But these days, there's a board for just about everything.
>>
>>93343411
There's a difference between expressing a different opinion and going on an internet crusade claiming the other side if worse than hitler, actively shitting up the very place you are "fighting" to fix. In short: Say what you want, but don't shitpost. Just because the mods are so overworked they can't moderate global rule 6 anymore doens't mean you can.

And i'm not even talking about that kind of posters. I'm talking about the genuine nutcases like barney fag and AGP / the /u/ guy who live in their own handcrafted versions of reality and have been at it for years non stop, going as far as to craft detailed conspiracy theories about the mods.

>>93343560
This is true, but irrc people like Eris and haiku fag where originally from /b/. Others like Setti where /x/ originals.
>>
>>93343560
>I don't know what happened to the place, but at some point they started drinking their own Kool-Aid, and it became the Coast to Coast AM call-in board where people rant about chakras and shadow people.

It's not like it only happened to /x/.
/tg/ was also a straight spawn of /b/ and its Wh40k shenanigans.
However, moderation arrived and smacked the crap out of them. Nowadays, /tg/ is just another boring TT game forum like any other. Worse yet, they started fanboyism over the games.
They used to take piss on the 40k, nowadays they fucking get insulted if you mention any flaws and downright make excuses for it worse than some GW-sponsored sites.
It's disgusting.
>>
>>93343642
I used it for a while, but most of the interesting parts of 4chan were divided into 130 boards with an ugly UI so I turned back to this shitty place almost immediately. I thought the meme of you can't leave was just a joke, but there is no imageboard(at least that I have seen) better than 4chan.
>>
>>93343752
What /tg/ are you on?

>implying those things about me
also, by barneyfag do you mean the picture-checker autist? i don't see that as being a contrarian, just fucking weird and horrible
>>
>>93343500
The second all the redditors realized their bitching wasn't making the pony puss disappear they all fucked off and the post quality skyrocketed. You never seem to realize how much of a shield against normies pony puss is until it's put into use.
>>
Moderation helped kill 4chan on the whole.

All we needed were people to keep illegal content off the site and to step in and get rid of all the walking broomsticks and water when shit goes seriously out of hand. We never needed goddamn nannies.
>>
>>93343808
I didn't imply anything about you good sir.

Yep. That's barneyfag. The dude's a contrarian for the sake of attention. He went from shitposting everytime a mlp picture was posted to stalking the 4chan IRC demanding GR15 be taken down since the mods "weren't doing their job deleting mlp".

Regardless of why they do it, there's enough of these "everything the staff does is wrong no matter what" and "4chan must cater to my very specific obsession" types running around to have a noticeable effect on the site. Imagine that for everything you do someone guy will appear and tell you "no that's wrong!" then throw a tantrum.

Again, one of the points of anonimity on the site is to say what you think without being shamed, but that doesn't include shitting up the conversation.
>>
>>93343953
>I didn't imply anything about you good sir.
By "you" I didn't realize you meant in the general example sense. My bad

and yea, but there's also a big scapegoat problem using contrarian as a reason, it's made having a different opinion than the norm basically impossible or else like what you said
>Imagine that for everything you do someone guy will appear and tell you "no that's wrong!" then throw a tantrum.
except altered to where it's "if you say anything different than everyone else some guy will appear and dismiss you as the thread's obligatory contrarian and you'll be shunned for trying to start shit"

but yes you're correct

>>
>>93344756
/jp/ has probably the most convoluted story of any 4chan board. It's a mess of moderation drama, offsite communities, forced memes, tripfags and spambots. It has like 10 different spinoff boards, and it's one of the few boards to have had been raided by moot's request.

I've been browsing it for 7 years and still have trouble understanding most of its history.
>>
>>93335266
>It's weird how so many old 4chan drawfags have become full-time furries, and rather not associate themselves with 4chan.

those that distance themselves are usually ones that were never truly invested.

no one can leave 4chan, even people who "make it", even people who absolutely change their way of being, they can't undo what 4chan unleashes into their mind, the absolute freedom of a perpetual de-ja-vu where every dumb thought, mood and argument is a new person on itself, where you can never be observed and judged beyond the instances you craft on the spot, where you play the game of socialization with unlimited attempts and access to a platform, no punishment for failures beyond the ephemeral mockery, and undivided attention of a stirred mass.

nothing can come close. You always thirst for those hundreds of thousands of eyes to witness you but never truly see you.
>>
>>93344922
Its weird because i don't think I've seen a rule on it
>>
>>93333250
Don't fall for that bait image, GG was banned from 4chan just as it was taking off I doubt people came to 4chan for GG after it was no longer allowed. What happened during that same time that had much more normalfag appeal was the celeb nudes leak, was likely the real reason for the spike.
>>
>>93344103

take a good example, a few months ago there was a guy posting something about a character that nobody has ever seen or heard about it before,it was painted in one of jusuke murata's works,he was a long side with other great SHONEN JUMP super heroes as well as many other obscure characters from other franchises.

a few hours later he waited for a good reply, but then without warning everything went downhill.

he was degraded as an outcast newfag for no fucking good reason then immediately the file thread was deleted after that,it really sucks how fucking /a/ has become a shit hole full of prejudice brain death parasites who likes to step on you JUST "because"
>>
>>93345095
It's called Global Rule 10.
>>
>>93345153
I guess my memory is hazy, but i remember the rest

But its still weird because USER WAS BANNED FOR THIS POST was a thing and it was more direct than just someone saying it
>>
>>93345150
So wait I'm confused. Was this a leak or a new series or something? Is it actually a well known anime character the one guy didn't know? Or just a fan work to see what reaction it would get only to find bitterness instead?
>>
>>93345153
No it isn't
>>
>>93345095
/co/ mods often make up their own rules without telling anyone. I'm aware that /co/ doesn't technically have dedicated mods but the ones moderating it are the ones that make up rules and don't post about it anywhere, then dish out bans like they expect everyone to know their rules.

>A part of me thinks it was necessary that everything be ruined and broken open for normies, but it still sucks.

some times i truly do feel hope for them.

they had a painful birth into this world, they were overwhelmed by the information overload, they experienced the cognitive disonance of endless new realities and narratives short-circuiting their previously small, clanish lifestyles, they were petrified and stunned by new dangers both real and manufactured, but now there's a lot of people who truly see the way things have to be.

society was never ready for the internet.

I don't think it can be fixed, really. The internet is different now, and this site has changed as well. Hell, 4chan has probably changed much less than the greater internet, though it's still changed.

But as someone who's been here for a long time, I feel like 4chan has less of an identity now than it used to. We may find WE R LEGUN and all that shit embarrassing now, but I'd take that over our identity essentially being "we're not Tumblr/Plebbit, but we're gonna whine about them all the fucking time".

>you don't realize you're the exact same thing, you're "it" before now now that you're not with "it" anymore you hate it and say it's all gone wrong.

Alright smartass, did I say at any point that said raids were politically motivated? No, because they were not. None of us gave a shit if you were left or right or center or whatever the fuck, because we ourselves didn't give a shit. Don't pretend like you're so fucking above it all and that we're just grouchy because "dumb oldfags hate what they don't understand", you fucking faggot.
>>
>>93346780
>did I say at any point that said raids were politically motivated? No, because they were not.

fucking with Westboro was pretty damn political.
fucking with Scientology too, you could argue it was against a certain hollywood elite that tugged plenty of strings.
fucking with animal abusers and other petty criminals was clearly a morally motivated action.
>>
>>93346780
This is what dumbass newfag /pol/tards fail to understand. Raids back then weren't about politics. They were done for one simple reason: for the lulz.

Any time 4chan tries to organize itself and do something political, it damages this site and attracts attention and brings in newfags who don't understand the culture.
