In the comics the Eson that is Quill's grandfather is presumably just some Spartoi guy as it dates back to the 70s when Star-Lord was separate from the Marvel universe.
But in the MCU where Ego is his dad and claims to be a Celestial, it certainly raises some interesting implications.
