I disagree. It's not a matter of quality, per se, but it's about the sameness of it all. You could easily make the argument that the industry has had roughly the same ratio of good to bad comics for decades. But, certainly in the past, you had a much wider range of what people tried to release as a comic, and it wasn't sullied by creators/execs just using comics as IP farms and storyboards.
If you're really into capeshit and sci-fi and simple movie-like plots/structures, then yeah, comics have probably gotten better. But for anything else, there's just probably not enough diversity in genre to care in the first place.
