I think some of Linkara's videos are watchable. I don't hate Miles Morales, I just find his current series boring. I'm not a fan of Gwenpool. I enjoyed (and find entertainment in rewatching) The Force Awakens. I've seen two episodes of THAT show after being encouraged by a friend, and considering its target demographic, the two I saw weren't bad. I don't hate Damian Wayne, but I didn't really like the way he was acting in Lazarus Contract.

Ian Flynn's Archie Sonic run is my favorite comic of all time, despite the many, many flaws it has. It's not objectively perfect, it's probably mediocre, but I enjoy it far too much. It gave me a love of comics and revived my love of Sonic. It's a fucking shame it's cancelled

The Titans books going on right now are the best ones in decades

For example, let's look at Asimov. His age ended a long time ago. The 80s changed science-fiction, just like it changed comics. Gritty "realistic" stories with conflicted characters were a big part of that era. That's not Asimov. Asimov's stories are fun high level problems solved by staunch unemotional professionals.
With regards to Batman and specifically the Killing Joke, is that we never left that era entirely. If the Killing Joke was released today, it'd fit right the fuck in.
Release an Asimov story today and it'd stick out horribly.

Quality can be objective yes, but appreciation of that quality is not. If everything is blue, then picking out shades of blue is hard. But if everything is red, then anything blue is easy to spot

Scott Snyder is the Bendis of DC. Good works in the past but he's gotten lazy and overhyped by both fanboys and the company itself. Ignores previous characterizations, pushes his OC's to the front, cares more about leaving his mark instead of writing a good story. I think you may be projecting what i ment abut Asimov. You probably talked to too many people who (like me) haven't read enough and try to place his ideas in current context. Whixh is understandable, most of his work has to be. But his stories stand, that is all i was trying to say. The Last Question is not a dated story.

He's not strictly "Sci-fi" though his stories about aliens and UFOs and shit.

Kurt Vonnegut Jr is the best author of the 20th century. I fucking stand by that. His books are all satire and exaggerations and sad fucking commentaries about life and how society is.

Read his books. My favourite is The Sirens of Titan. It's a book that's written in a pulp style with people living on Mars and UFOs that go "OOOoooOOOoo"
But it's about more that that.
It's about your place is the cosmos and your value in life.
All his books are like that.

Cat's Cradle is his next book I totally recommend.
It's about a journalist who is looking up a fictional member of the Los Almost nuke crew.
Same grand themes. Meaning. Purpose. Place in the universe.

His most famous work is Slaughter House 5. His "auto-biography" about Vonnegut's time in WW2. It's about a soldier who gets "unstuck in time" and functionally goes insane. Very good allegorical story about PTSD and the war itself.

All his books are good. He's a sad sad man who writes happy funny books about how everything is pointless but that gives it meaning.

And no, The Last Question isn't dated. But that's because, in true Asimovian style, his characters are only cardboard cut outs to flank the real impetus of the story.
It's not about the people. It's about the computer brains.
