I mean, fine, Batman can't bring himself to kill anyone because he's a mentally scarred manchild getting off on violence who would make excuses to keep murdering people if he commited murder once and he knows this, understandable. I hate when people overthink the "no-kill" rule like this. Batman's killed plenty of times when he's had to, but he's always been about redemption and humanizing his otherwise monstrous villains and giving them second chances. That being said, for the most part, Batman usually tries to kill the Joker. Hell, Gordon's had to shoot at him to get him to stop, which makes sense, since at the end of the day, this guy's a vigilante. Yeah, Joker's insane, but Batman doesn't have any illusion he could redeem him like with Two-Face, and he's not acting as a sort of parole officer like with Langstrom, or understand it's a different culture like with Ra's. Joker works because he pushes Bats to the extreme. He's not trying to understand him, just to stop him, because he makes a mockery of all he stands for. The running joke is that like a cockroach, Joker just always pops up again.

Batman not killing the Joker was something that made sense back when the tone of the stories was more lighthearted, and when the Joker wasn't a lunatic serial killer who has been further shedding any pretenses of comedy except in the sense of the nihilist idea of existence being a joke.

One explanation I like is that Joker sort of acts as the lightning rod to Gotham's insanity, and if he were to die, it would explode everywhere far beyond Batman's control.
Like, Joker dying to Batman would cement him as a martyr to his idiotic fanboys in Gotham who idolize him (if these people exist in real life there's no reason why they can't exist in the actual setting), and would inspire them to go put on clown paint and they themselves would start committing crime so they could be the next Joker. The problem with this is that Batman constantly allows people to die, or injures them so badly that they eventually die. Think of all the people who he beats so savagely that they bleed to death, and it's not like he calls an ambulance to help them.

As I recall, in no particular order

Bruce and Diana both ascend into Godhood.

Bruce gets all happy and goes white-costumed though they can't have children because gods are dicks.

They do have kids, now there's a grimdark babby wonderwoman who slices your arm off with her bat lasso.

Immortal Diana spends the entire day with her husband when it's clear he is going to die of old age soon.

The endings were more happy then not but they still didn't persue it sadly.

Gotham City is alive. It will have a Joker to balance it's batman. When Joker dies, it chooses another to become Joker. This has already happened several times. Those comic book death's Joker never should have been able to escape? He doesn't. You save Joker's life so he doesn't ruin that one more life that would be sacrificed to bring him back.
