The problem is that canceling a marriage with a covenant with the devil is a terribly weird thing. If they had to cancel the wedding they had to do it after House of M. It was also a good opportunity to put Gwen back into life and rejuvenate the character. Not that it was necessary, for me. Anything would have been better than a pact with the devil.
