In the time after Moon's attack Toffee just seems to have gone from Monster Rights Activist to literal wanted terrorist (not)suicide-bombing the fuck out of Mewni and other monsters. There was a time when he would lecture about his people's plight, but not anymore.

So, wait, I've been catching up on this show. How is Moon not a monster? And by that I mean a shite person, not a literal member of the monster race.

I'm so excited. When I first started this show I expected Moon to be a boring parent character, but she's actually involved with the plot and is an interesting character overall.

In the past I wasn't looking forward to Moon getting development because of the fan interpretations of a tragic past with Toffee and her being badass and all. But now that they've done something similar in canon but with more interesting elements like her seeming pretty depressed, having done some bad shit in her past, etc. it's turned out really well.

Every season's major episodes seem to slide the story closer to the kind of edgy fic that would get written if the tone had stayed like the first episode forever, except in the actual show and done well. Darkest spell seems pretty hardcore.

Contugno is just a storyboarder, and the headcanon she has is contradicted by the canon material from the Guide to Mastering Every Dimension.

I think Ludo did know about the massacre, it just seems different when you're watching a depiction happen on screen then just being told about it.

Ludo is a spastic manchild, almost definitely born after or was too young to remember the last Mewman-Monster War. If monsters have any opportunity to be educated, it probably wasn't afforded to Ludo, being the runt with many heirs to his clan before him.

Toffee clenching his fist in reaction to the massacre reenactment suggests that it upsets him enough to make his composure slip just that little bit. It's up to the viewers interpretation as to what exactly sets him off. Maybe anger on behalf of his fellow monsters, or more likely in my opinion it's more just his raging hate/revenge boner against the Butterflys, since he sure didn't have a problem getting Ludo's goons killed or using Ludo to establish a power base stealing and processing corn with monster slave labor.

There's even the possibility that Toffee was actually alive at the time of the Great Monster Massacre, but I still don't think they meant that kind of "immortal."

I'd say that's debatable, but it is interesting to think that the background/supporting characters in this show are way more entertaining than the usual one-note tropes you'd expect them to be. For example, even if Ferguson and Alfonzo were added due to executive meddling and are pretty clearly just generic "bros" for Marco, I still get a kick out of every scene they're in, mostly because Alfonzo's voice is hilarious. also Ferguson is a QT

This reminds me of something I've been wondering about for a while now: Was Buff Frog a soldier/militant or work for the monster Bratva at some point, or receive formal training? How competent he was seemed to depend on the situation and episode, but he was by far the most disciplined of Ludo's monsters, and a decent spy. And enhanced interrogation techniques aren't typically something you learn on the streets (or the swamp). I get the feeling that he's got a hell of a history, which we probably will never learn about.
