Hollywood Studios is unnecessarily confusing to navigate because all the maps force up to be north which orients the park diagonally which makes it difficult to make reference points.

I hate these threads. Full of rich assholes. I will never go to Disney World or Disney Land. I'll probably never leave my shitty ass state again, as I only previously left it on school field-trips.

This shit is way too expensive. Always love seeing commercials on TV, with happy families, and they they drop a pricetag that's north of one grand. And that's not even covering travel expenses and food, or souvenirs.

Literally the only reason I've gone to either park is that I know people in Florida and southern California, and leeched off them so I didn't have to pay for local transportation or board. That shit ends up being more expensive than airfare in some cases.
>>
What's the best time of year to go? Least touristy, fewest patrons?
>>
>>93261064
The month with the lowest crowds would probably be January. Everybody just finished the big holiday season, students return to school, & it can go below freezing in Florida.
>>
I want to wait until star wars gets here
>>
>>93261101
I've heard that even MLK Day is one of those holidays which increases park traffic, so perhaps don't plan to visit on the 14th-16th.
>>
I never to got visit EPCOT before the changes
>>
>>93261224
Every holiday/weekend increases traffic. However, I would think that Valentine's Day on a Tuesday would be more crowded than MLK Day (that's always on Monday).

I must add that Disney does a damn good job of bringing guests in year-round. Even in January they have what I think is their biggest marathon.

There's no escaping the crowds. Disney keeps upping the price of admission & lodging, yet that obviously hasn't deterred park attendance.

>>
>>93260463
Really should just be 4 areas:

-Classic Hollywood around the Chinese Theater, sub-area with Muppet avenue
-Star Wars
-Marvel
-Pixar
>>
>>93261540
If you use the strategies to avoid the massive crowds (going early, going at right time of year, using fast pass) Orlando is far superior to foreign parks

But if you show up at 1pm on a Saturday afternoon in July and want to go on Space Mountain you're gonna have a bad time though. Swept away in a flood of screaming obese hispanic children, asians with phones who aren't looking where where they're going, and overheated muslim women in those total body black tarps
>>
>>93261885
Conversely, showing up at park opening on a temperate post-labor day morning and hitting the big rides first then going fast pass for the remaining big rides, then going for the less popular stuff (i.e. hall of presidents) when the park gets busy, and you'll do great.

because Disneyland is for cucks.

Walt Disney World is the GOAT park. They will never sell out for quiplord marvel meme themes.
>>
>>93261833
Hollywood Boulevard and Sunset Boulevard (the entrance and area around Tower of Terror) are some of the best themed areas in WDW.

The "old hollywood" feel is fantastic and the ToT fits it perfectly.

Marvel could use its own area I agree. Perhaps a rebrand of Animation courtyard.

Muppet land will probably be on the chopping block I'm afraid.

it's because, as I understand, Tower of Terror just wasn't popular at Disneyland.

doesn't help that the California Adventure version was smaller, shorter, and had less to do with Twilight Zone than the original.

Acknowledging at least the latter, they decided to refurbish it.

>>93261833
>>93262042
I don't think Disney can do any marvel attractions in Florida due to Universal Orlando's Island of Adventure.

But I think they're free to do it in California, and thus another reason they changed out ToT in California Adventure for Guardians of the Galaxy; rumor has it that it's just to test the waters and see how a 'Marvel Land' would be received in California.

So far, it looks like it's being received well.

German Sachertorte at EPCOT for me, probably the best chocolate cake in the world for that matter.

I like Disney more for their world building aesthetics/engineering works rather than the characters themselves. ('characters' in costumes freak me the fuck out)

I was at the park shortly after Pandora opened. Flight of Passage is pretty incredible. I wish it'd been a bit more like Mission: Space with actual motion and shit but overall it was excellent.

The only really mediocre part was the leadup:

>>Stand in a room while some Arab scientist character onscreen explains what the "Flight of Passage". Was apparently directed to "talk like an awkward autist" and went all out
>>Stand in a room while Sigourney Weaver's replacement Sigourney Weaver 2.0 does the same

Yeah I've seen videos and thought;

This is the same park with the dinosaur ride's intro. THAT ride's intro was how you were supposed to do the scientist and boss dynamic. This intro guy is so unfunny and unengaging that it just took me out of it. It was even less funny/ relevant in the videos made of it during the previews. Like pandoran parasites? Seriously? Where the fuck was the joke?

I'd get it if they want to make it more realistic and serious. But they should just remove Arab scientist guy and have Sig 2.0 just explain everything. Honestly they repeat so much information that there isn't really anything of value

At least the Dinosaur leadup was campy and is (I assume) intended to make you think "What a cock, he's gonna get us fucking killed".

The Avatar one was trying to be semi-realistic and ended up being pretty cringeworthy. I hope they refine it.

Somewhat related, the new Pandora shop was its own cool little experience, complete with a line that rivaled that of the rides. Every person and their grandmother at the park had one of these interactive Banshee toys on their shoulder, which are bought at a rookery at the shop. Lots of cool shit. A bust of Neytiri which
I shamelessly checked for nipples (there were none).

Also, for some completely incomprehensible reason, the whole Pandora area smelled like Jalapeno. No fucking idea what that's about.

If you can't afford to visit Paris then sure. But if you can save enough money for flights and hotels to Paris, it will only take extra time to save money for flights and hotels to Orlando.

All of it, basically. At one point as we were walking I saw a window into the scientist room and I actually thought "Jesus, look at all that shit, that might be worth the wait".

It was not, but only because we spent 2 hours at 11 PM shuffling along next to a... colored family, all sporting some flashing-neon Mickey ears which were on the whole time. And who tried to cut in front of us at one point and I had to physically restrain my gf from getting in a fight with.

It basically goes

I should also mention the floating mountains themselves were fairly disappointing.

Like they don't even try to make an illusion of them floating. There's basically a bunch of completely solid, very thick pillars of vines that rise out of the ground to meet them, even thicker than in pic related. I was expecting something quite a bit more impressive; something like giant, extremely-detailed balloons/floats.

Yeah. I prefer camp in my disney rides/intros. In a way it breaks the immersion enough so that while you're enjoying yourself but you know that it's just a ride and isn't trying to be something profoundly preachy and cringe. I mean it's like an uncanny valley of immersion that this new pandora seems to have. Just the hippy vibe and attachment to the script a lot of the cast members seem to have there is just…i don't know, uncomfortable? A part of it probably is because the movie Avatar is pretty shallow and disingenuous in regards to the message it blares out with no subtly. The avatar forum/fanbase is completely cringe with it's 'muh so deep' attitude. The whole land can be considered hypocritical but I'm not going to let that ruin my fun.

The banshee toys have actually sold out and are out of stock for a few weeks. Thankfully I'll be going most likely when they probably will restock…Hopefully. I want a green/yellow one

I doubt it. Coco seems like it'll be another 'good dinosaur' as in be completely forgettable and nobody will talk or care about it…then again I thought that would be what happened to Frozen when I read about it before it came out so…yeah.

Still pissed as to what they did to the old Norway ride. Oh well, money trumps education.

>>93273150

I've researched a lot about it.

The food is generally healthier than a lot of the other choices in Disney.
The main thing is supposed to be like a Chiptole styled restaurant in that you choose portions of your meal like a base with sides and stuff. There's beef, chicken, fish, and tofu. There are also these bao buns called 'pods' that are vegetable curry or cheeseburger meat inside. Vegable bao buns are also kinda bad from what I've heard but the burger boa buns supposedly are worth the hype/taste like mcdonalds cheeseburgers. (they have mustard and spices inside with the meat)

The beers and alcoholic drinks seem ok. There's a green beer but the flavors of most of them seem just ok. The Pandoran sunrise drink is supposedly bad tasting.

The Nightblossom drink (pic here), which I'm looking forward too the most, supposedly tastes a lot like sour skittles.

cheeseburgers.

Its fine for a Day but they dont put that much into halloween like other parks do. the only notable rides that change are space mountain and haunted mansion which turns into the nightmare before christmas. the parade with the headless horseman is the other only real attraction.

if you can do it I would say go to universal which is only like 15-20 minutes away from disney by car.

Universal does more adult entertainment for halloween, they have a ton of haunted house's themed mostly after movies and tv shows plus a few original/scary story themed ones and they have a bunch of creepy characters walking around scaring guests

If you're a fan of Harry Potter, you definitely need to go. The Harry Potter area is a representation of Hogsmeade/Diagon Alley. It's a ton of fun walking around the park in a wizard robe and checking out all the HP merch.

When it comes to rides, The Hippogriff roller coaster ride is very short and in my opinion not worth the wait.
On the other hand, The Forbidden Journey is a fantastic ride and is actually my favorite in the whole park.

If you like the Walking Dead, the maze they have is pretty worth it. I love going into mazes and seeing other people get spooked. The set inside is pretty great as well.

And a show you definitely can't miss is Waterworld. The stunts are pretty fun to watch and if you happen to go on a hot day, you have the opportunity to check it. This is definitely the must see show.

The problem is there are two kinds of people who go to the parks; Those who come for Kino and those who come for Disney. Many people are bored of Epcot mainly because they are trying to get a more 'magic and pure adventure and entertainment' experience like Magic Kingdom. Thing is Epcot wasn't really designed for those people in mind. Epcot was more for people who enjoy watching documentaries with a bit of camp, not for people who want thrill rides with their favorite characters.

I don't mind rides with IPs but there's got to be a balance between original and those based on franchises. Unfortunately that the parks will cross that line someday. Each park is supposed to have a theme; Magic kingdom: Entertainment and Wonder, Epcot: education, Animal Kingdom: conservation/natural world, Hollywood Studios: movie making.

At least with the Pandora addition to Animal Kingdom they're try to incorporate the theme of the natural world and restoration...albeit Avatar is very disingenuous with it's message. But at least it's trying.

The Frozen ride doesn't even try to fit into Epcot's theme.

As >>93279832 said, they should be taking advantage of IPs. However I do disagree with you to an extent. People really want to see characters be themselves and not to have them be lectured in something they don't care about. Hence why it's best to split original and IP and have a balance.

Dinorama's big problem is that for a park so obsessed with authenticity, it completely fails at being a roadside dinosaur attraction.

Roadside dinosaur parks are wonky looking lowbudget walkthru/drivethru prehistory themed Jungle Cruises not a State Fair Midway. A dark ride in the vein of classic roadside dinosaur parks would have been much better for the whole "Dinosaur Americana" theme.

Also, it needs some significant placemaking to put it out west. Like for whatever reason, the backstory for Dinoland is that all these fossils and shit were found right there in Florida when that makes no fucking sense because Florida was busy being underwater during dinosaur times. So hide the show building for this new dark ride or whatever in some new mesa/badlands rockwork and embrace the shit out of the Route 66 stuff. And maaaybe relocate the Sci-Fi Dine In concept to Dinoland with a video loop that's basically an HD version of that sweet-ass Fantastic Dinosaurs of the Movies VHS of dino movie trailers.

not sure if i should be disgusted or non surprised that people are willing to spend $50 bucks on a literal puppet/toy they will never play with again. apparently they are being compared to the wands you get in potter land except the potter wands let you do cool secret interactible stuff around diagon alley and hogsmead.

remember the movie showcased several videogames covering the history of the genre,Fix-It Felix was an 80's game, Sugar Rush was a late 90's game, and Hero's Duty was a modern game, so basically have a Wreck-It Ralph themed ride cover those themes of history, evolution, and progress in a culturally important medium

or in other words make it a videogame version of the Carousel of Progress

I had an idea for a Yo-Kai Watch themed ride at the Japan area of Epcot, it would have you shining light on yokai with amazing 4D effects to catch them through out the ride, and when the ride's done you can have those catched yokai turn into special disney world edition yokai medals that each have the yokai doing something in the Disney World area (from the Parks to the Restaurants even to the Hotels), and It would Yo-Kai Watch because it plays on Disney XD in USA so it make sense they'd have a Disney World attraction based off that series, what do you think would that be a good idea?

Well personally, when I think of a Wreck-it Ralph attraction at Disney World, I'd think of two options:
1: A series of arcade games exclusively made for Disney World that's based off Fix-it Felix Jr. (and yes I know there is one, they just need to bring it back), Hero's Duty, and Sugar Rush, with one of ether of them in the disney hotels' arcades, with the Wreck-it Ralph arcade having all 3 of them plus a shit ton of more famous arcade games
or
2: a ride where it's basically Toy Story Mania, but instead of a cannon you have a joystick and buttons, and you basically do challenges based off video games with all kinds of 4D effects and visuals

disneyland is a story of bad planning. Shoving too much in too limited a space.

Walt himself knew this and it's why he bought up all the land around Disney World.

Honestly besides the "nostalgia" factor of being Disney's original park and being on the other side of the country there's no reason for disney land to exist.

I just went in there for the first time last month, holy crap.

Totally eating at that restaurant next time.

I really wish you didnt need to make reservations for table service places. That makes the table service meal plan crap because you feel like you're on a micromanaged schedule.

My trip last month they messed up a lot of stuff. Meal plan/memory maker didn't work the first 2 days, it took them forever to fix it.

Ended up being given a fist full of 5 person fast passes, as well as a cast member filling up our reservation with 3 per day for the parks we went to ON TOP of the 3 we normally get...

My daughter rode 7D Minetrain like 4 times over the course of like 8 days. Also, when I went to hand it for the final ride, they didn't take the pass so I handed it off to a family that was staying another day so they could do it. It was like the golden ticket, Anon.

Holy shit do I have a story about that world soda section. According to my friend a soda called Bibo (a South African kiwi type drink) exists and that place is the only place you can get it non carbonated in the world. It tasted pretty good! He got a souvenir cup and (probably against the rules) filled it to the brim. The other sodas there are pretty good, don't try the Italian one though unless you really really like bitter tasting stuff.
>>
>>93297024
It's a tradition for my brother and I to go to the sodas of the world and go, "Well, I'm too happy. time to mix it up by drinking a huge cup of Beverly."

Then we do.

I realize I didn't explore the Caribbean beach resort at all.
I was too lazy to even look at the cool pool, just the small local pool.
When you just have a week of Disney it's easy to overlook the stuff besides the parks themselves.
>>
So if Spain is added will it be done during the Epcot renovation and would that be around the time for that giant film.

Alright, I have a challange for you /co/: I want you to create a entirely new attraction for any park of your choosing, without relying on any prior properties.

I can't help it that Dollywood is more comfy being in the mountains and has more actual rides.

The huge Coca Cola place in Disney Springs makes a mixed drink with Beverly and it's actually pretty tasty. Not even close to the best mixed drink they have there but I was impressed.

Better have Custom Saber building and not that cheap Hasbro bullshit. Damn I miss the pre Black Series replicas.

So I've only ever been at Paris since it's close from home.
How much time and money would it take me to visit everything in Disneyworld?
>>
>>93297972
Been there myself; a lot of the rides are old, or tacky, but its kinda neat. Its far more rustic americana, with the craftsmen valley.

I honestly dont care for, or like Rollercoasters, as I get sick on them, and I live close to Six Flags, so I don't need nor want "thrills."

Rather, I like the dedication of Dollywood, and how much care and effort was put into it. It is, as you describe, comfy af.

Britbong here.

Couldn't afford to go to Disneyland as a kid (plus was terrified of travelling) but finally went to Disneyland Paris for the first time with a friend last winter.

I'm alarmed by how much I enjoyed it (especially as I'm a wimp and don't go on any "big" rides at theme parks).

>>93298207
I dunno about money but I think you'd need 5 days to see every park + Springs.

No joke my Sister was THAT GIRL when I went back in 2009 or 10. She was in her angsty teenage stage and didn't scream. So she was THAT GIRL. Seriously one of the highlights of the trip.

Yeah, a week to look at springs on the day we arrive then the 4+1 pass then fly home.
It's quite elegant if not a little busy.

I swear everytime i go to any park in florida there are a bunch of britbongs there. especially in like beginging of november.

is it just because its cheaper to fly and vacation in florida or do brits just really love theme parks and waiting in long lines. are brits really the masters of queueing?

Just got back from Disneyland had a great time. Some of my thoughts

>holy shit they really need to control the amount of people they let in, adventureland/new Orleans square is a disaster zone now
>pins are back, I felt the slacked for a couple years but this last time was really good
>didn't do gotg because the line was too long and they ran out of fastpasses in the first hour
>soaring over the world was ok, I liked the old better, I did like the fireworks are no longer during Christmas though
>everyone I hear that intro I just imagine hank and dean
>the matterhorn is legitimately spooky now
