Filoni seems to really love TCW, to the extent that Rebels seems like an addendum to it sometimes. I wonder did he just get bored of it, or was he moved along to a new project by higher-ups?

>>

Mostly trash, just like any fictional universe not created by a single individual. Of course after being dumped it was just replaced with something equally shitty.
>>
>>93250666
I heard the Vong themselves besides the whole "immune to the Force" thing were neat, but apparently they took up a lot of stories or something and people got fatigued. Or something along those lines.

I think Filoni does really like Rebels, but he also finished up the main things he wanted to do with it.

Ideas for Rebels were actually some of his earliest TCW ideas, such as the idea of the cast living and traveling on a "home" ship, so he finally got to bring them to life. Remnants of these ideas are seen in TCW with things like the Twilight, which is why that ship basically disappears after the first season.

But he probably got the opportunity to start on something bigger, and figured that now was the best time to end the show. Vader "killed" Ahsoka? Done. Rebellion set up? Done. Maul's arc concluded? Done. Story of a family living in a spaceship? Done. And it all ended up lining up perfectly so that chronologically, ending it at Season 4 would sit Rogue One perfectly between Rebels and ANH. He saw that he could tie a bow on it, so he did. It's much better than taking things nice and slow and going 100+ episodes, only to be told by Disney to wrap it up without time to end it properly.

I think he'd rather just give it a nice ending now, and then focus his efforts on his "bigger" project which he has not yet revealed to us. And if he ends up feeling like stuff from Rebels was unresolved, like with TCW, he'll find a way to give fans some closure in his new show. I'm certain that we'll be seeing Hera again, for example.

>Luke safely landed himself and Isolder from a free fall drop from orbit with the Force
>he also absorbed the initial cannon blasts from the AT-AT
>Luke managed to telekinetically sustain a black hole
>he walked on lava while still throbbing with the Force after defeating a Fireworm living in the lava just moments before
>Luke used the Force to call all the Jedi across the galaxy to Ossus
>Luke also trained to overcome the Force-Blindness caused by Ysalamiri
>Luke used the Force to generate a physical copy of the Jade Shadow to fool the attacking dartships. This usage of the Force was so extreme, Luke burnt out and his face was temporarily sunken and shriveled like Palpatine's
>Luke rooted himself with the Force so strongly that it was said that he had become the very essence of the immovable object, and that not even the black hole at the center of the galaxy could move him
>Luke shut his presence down after being fired upon by Jaina to make it seem like he died
>Luke made Caedus "see" a fleet of ships, causing him to panic in front of his navy
>He was described as a maelstrom of luminous Force energy, against which there was no shelter. So calm and focused was he that his actions were not interrupted by any thought. Luke merged with the Force to such a degree that the Jedi Master did not seem to be there, physically or as an individual personality
>Electric Judgment
>Luke was taught the Fold space ability which allowed him to teleport objects vast distances
>The Light Side rushed into him, his cells began to burst with power and his skin gave off a golden glow
>mnemotherapy
>Luke had great resilience in Force duels, able to break a powerful Force grip on his neck
>Luke dispensed powerful blasts of Force energy that manifested itself as golden flame

the Vong, as a concept, had potential

an alien race from outside the galaxy with massive organic space ships, and were immune to the sensory aspect of the force, Jedi couldn't sense any force in them. It could have been amazing, but was handled poorly and eventually it just sort of puttered out.

with the story group and a competent author, they could theoretically do justice to the concept. it won't be at the scale it was in the EU, but it could be done.

I'm like 75% convinced Filoni's bigger project is an animated film rather than a series, possibly with something approaching a regular Disney-sized budget. The question is just what said film would be about.

I'd hazard a guess at the siege of Mandalore, since it gets Ahsoka back out in a cartoon movie for kids who love Ahsoka and also because she's Filoni's waifu, but it would be nonsensical viewing for general audiences because it's literally the conclusion to a story most of them won't have seen.
>>
>>93251236
>but it would be nonsensical viewing for general audiences because it's literally the conclusion to a story most of them won't have seen
Also Maul figures prominently in the story, and the masses think he bought it in TPM.
>>
>>93251236
How well did TCW's movie do at the box office anyway?
>>
>>93251272
Nah, normies generally know by now Maul is alive, and some exposition/flashbacks wouldn't be impossible. There was a big marketing campaign about his return back in 2013, and the main Youtube channel has addressed it tons.

You overestimate how much Lucasfilm is going to bend over for idiots
>>
>>93250969
The Vong as a concept - realistically - are probably going to be the big bad of the inevitable sequel-sequel trilogy a decade from now. Obviously they won't be the actual Vong, but they'll be the Vong in spirit.

There's been an inordinate amount of stage-setting for a darkness lurking outside the galaxy across all the new canon novels and comics, etc., and at this rate I doubt that particular plot thread is going to come to fruition at the end of Episode IX. Snoke and the First Order don't seem to have anything directly to do with the extragalactic evil that's been foreshadowed so much in everything from Aftermath to Thrawn, but rather look like they're going to be simple 1:1 expies of the OT villains without much of a twist.

All these tidbits and teases about the font of the dark side are probably the story group playing the long game, laying the groundwork for extragalactic invasion, so that when Star Wars X comes out in 2030 and features dark side-wielding aliens attacking the galaxy and everyone starts complaining that they pulled that out of their ass they can point back to all these hints and go "nuh uh, we've been planning this for years".

>>93254115
They are just as canon as the other unproduced TCW episodes. Pablo has said that the Vong would have appeared in a 4 episode arc. They wouldn't have been the main focus, but they weren't just spitballing them. It's also very possible that this arc has been referenced already in canon since Thrawn mentions having met Anakin Skywalker during the Clone Wars meaning that for some reason Anakin went to the Unknown Regions during the war.

>>
>>93254183
Whenever we get the ST equivalent of Jedi Prince, except this time they can't retcon it.
>>
>>93254217
Oh yeah you're sort of right. Thrawn met Anakin in the Outer Rim while scouting the galaxy but it's possible that it was close enough to the Unknown Regions that Anakin could have studied a Vong ship during this mission.
>>
>>93254181
>>93254217
>>93254265
Adding to this it's very likely this happened around the end of the war (which is the exact timeframe the Vong episode/s would have happened) since Thrawn deems the Republic unfit to aid the Chiss, but then the Empire rises before he's able to travel back to Chiss space. Also Thrawn only mentions having met Anakin, not Ahsoka (also Ahsoka would have probably given the Rebellion a heads up on Thrawn if she was with Anakin at the time).

Forgot to add that this also would have been during the time of the Outer Rim Sieges which would give Anakin a reason to be in the area at the time.

>"Here's why you can't exterminate us, aruetii. We're not huddled in one place—we span the galaxy. We need no lords or leaders—so you can't destroy our command. We can live without technology—so we can fight with our bare hands. We have no species or bloodline—so we can rebuild our ranks with others who want to join us. We're more than just a people or an army, aruetii. We're a culture. We're an idea. And you can't kill ideas—but we can certainly kill you."
I'm not even a Mandofag, but that's pretty fucking awesome.

She still is the most boring character even now that they have given her a (rather lame) backstory.

Heck, even Pryce is a more interesting and compelling character.
>>
>>93254073
The hell are you talking about? Lucas created neither Mara nor the Vong. He openly talked about how in his mind, Luke never got married.
>>
>>93254010
>and Lucas also said that Jedi aren't allowed to start families so Luke isn't allowed to produce children or have a lover.
This didn't stop Anakin.
Also Luke's Jedi Order doesn't have to have the exact same code as the old Jedi Order, he may allow families or make other changes.
>>
>>93254622
>This didn't stop Anakin.
Yeah but it led him to the dark side.
>Also Luke's Jedi Order doesn't have to have the exact same code as the old Jedi Order, he may allow families or make other changes.
True but one of the very core values in the Jedi religion is not having attachments since it causes you to have biases which fucks with your diplomatic duties and it leads you to the dark side. Plus Lucas has said multiple times that Luke never gets married. "Once Vader dies, he doesn't come back to life, the Emperor doesn't get cloned and Luke doesn't get married …" Source: An interview between Lucas and Total Film.

So apparently this Kibilini Sector that's right to the bottom left of Tatooine and Geonosis is where the Thrugii Asteroid Belt is and that's where Anakin fought alongside Thrawn during the Clone Wars. Keep in mind I'm technically using EU maps but the Story Group has said that they mostly use EU maps (unless they contradict canon maps) and Zahn often uses EU sources for his lore.
>>
>>93254702
Lucas might be thinking of how in Dark Empire they were originally going to have some new guy going around in Vader's costume but Lucas told them to do something different so instead they decided to clone Palpatine.
>>
>>93253957
I'm excited
>>
>>93254683
I believe he was talking about the EU in general in that quote. The authors continued the story after RotJ as they wished, but for Lucas, at that point in time at least, the story just ended with RotJ and nothing else. He's not saying Luke can never get married, he is saying that all those books where Luke gets married or whatever didn't happen for him.
>>
>>93254788
Well you're ignoring the part where Lucas made 3 multi-million dollar movies over the span of 6 years where the moral of the story is that attachment leads to the dark side. Also the part where the main inspiration for the Jedi Order, Buddhism, teaches that attachment should be frowned upon since it leads men to become evil.

Then there’s the kind where the badness expands and metastasizes, taking on a jaw-dropping life of its own, pushing through to ever-higher levels of garishness. The Book of Henry ... is of the latter, you’ve-got-to-see-it-to-disbelieve-it variety."

They should just make a comic or an episode of Filoni's next show or whatever that takes place concurrently with RotJ and focuses on Rex's team. He still dies, but while in the movie it is seen as just a random dude dying in the background among many, here it is actually the focus of the story, and you get to see a proper send-off. He goes down while fighting off hordes of stormtroopers, and his sacrifice wasn't in vain, and you get to actually see and feel it.

>Rebels episode
>the cast discovers a planet that Kanan feels has something to do with the Force
>they land, and it turns out the planet is Wayland
>they run into Joruus C'baoth, who is similar to his EU counterpart but acts more like a cult leader
>Jim Jones and David Koresh references here and there
>their weird interpretation of the Force freaks Ezra out but Kanan says that the Jedi and the Sith aren't the only Force religions
>Kanan is happy to see a Jedi he thought long dead is still alive and can be recruited, unlike that weird desert NEET Obi-Wan Kenobi
>Ezra senses something strange and tries to warn Kanan
>Anyway later they find Joruus doing dark side shit
>it's revealed that Sifo-Dyas first suggested cloning Jedi for an army, but the only clone (Joruus) was so unstable that they decided to move to a regular army
>the Kaminoans dumped Joruus on a random planet by order of Sidious
>that planet was Wayland
>they fight Joruus but team up to stop Thrawn at one point
>Joruus stays with his cult as the Jedi realize he's best left alone

What do you think? It might work in the nucanon.

Baker for the clones introduced in TCW, & any generic grunts.

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/films/2017/06/17/carrie-fisher-died-sleep-apnea-combination-factors-coroner-concludes/

> Carrie Fisher died from sleep apnea and a combination of other factors, but investigators were not able to pinpoint an exact cause, coroner's officials said Friday.

>Among the factors that contributed to Fisher's death was buildup of fatty tissue in the walls of her arteries, the Los Angeles County coroner's office said in a news release late Friday. The release states that the "Star Wars" actress showed signs of having taken multiple drugs, but investigators could not determine whether they contributed to her death in December.

>Her manner of death would be listed as undetermined, the agency said.

>The agency did not immediately respond to a request for additional details about whether a full autopsy report and toxicology results were available.

>Sleep apnea is a condition in which a person's breathing pauses during sleep. The pauses may be brief or last several minutes, according to information from the National Institutes of Health.

Honestly, I wouldn't say that. Classic Trek isn't for everyone.

>Are the movies necessary though?

Some are good, some suck. Watch what sounds good to you. Everyone says Wrath of Khan is the best, and I tend to agree. A lot of people say Star Trek First Contact sucks, and I disagree.

I really can't tell you what movies you should watch, because opinions of them vary.

>The reboots too? Do I watch each series in release order? Is each series a must watch?

Again, that's up to you. I love powering through series like Trek when I have time.

Original Star Trek is the first and takes place before all the others. Star Trek: The Next Generation takes place many many years after that. Star Trek: Deep Space Nine and Star Trek Voyager take place around the same time as Next Generation.

Deep Space Nine actually starts around the end of Next Generation and Voyager's story starts around season 3 of Deep Space Nine. The shows only crossover in their first episodes. I think, unless I'm forgetting something.

If you think you should start with classic Trek because it's the first, go ahead. But I would actually recommend starting with Next Generation and follow it up with Deep Space Nine. If Deep Space Nine leaves you hungry for more Trek, check out Voyager. It's not as good and a lot of people will tell you it has many skippable episodes and I agree. Most of the characters are really boring compared to the other shows.

As much as I like rebels its a good thing it is ending
There is too much established already in the time frame so they can't really stretch and do some more interesting new ideas
Hopefully the next show is after Jedi so they can really go at it

I'm tired of this OT time frame they have stuck with for 85% of the new canon the past 2-3 years(Not to say I didn't enjoy most of it)

Dee Bradley Baker.

DBB is the reason I am buying Battlefront 2. I was completely sold the second I heard the TCW voices. That is always how I imagined future Clone Wars vidya should be, and my dream came true.

Sam Witwer was right, you already have Morrison for Boba/Jango, the grizzled, older bounty hunters. But the Clones are younger, sent straight onto the battlefields when they are "old" enough, and we had a 6-season-long show in which any fan that gives a damn about Clones has grown attached to the DBB clones. When I heard "Clankers in the throne room!" and "Fight for our brothers!" I felt like crying tears of joy.

Lucasfilm absolutely made the perfect decision with DBB.

Part lingering EU impressions. Canonically, Why not Jango? In his singular canon appearance he was consistently badass and looked really cool. Yes, granted, little to no depth, but he's better than the knockoff Fett.

Admittedly, it's just a scout trooper laying on the floor with his helmet off, and you can't really see who it is, so they could just ignore it.

Or they could easily have Rex be wounded but not killed.

Or they could go for maximum continuity, and actually have Rex die at the battle
>>
>>93268802
How do we know it's the same guy in the screenshot?
>>
>>93268854
Exactly.

Beyond the fact that we see "Rex" going undercover in Scout armor (minus the helmet), so unless there just so happened to be another Scout who forgot his helmet today, that is "Rex".

But it's an easily ignored detail and nobody is going to care if they don't kill Rex on Endor, just because some nameless extra was lying on the ground for a single shot in 1983.

If he was going senile, then he'd have been nowhere near that moon.

And also, he'd be physically in his 70s. Rex is obviously not in the best of shape during Rebels and he's shown no indication that his physique is improving. By the time of RoTJ, Rex would probably be too decrepit for being in the field. If his mind is still sound, he's probably in some command ship or a base training rebel soldiers or advising in battle tactics (the latter of which being part of what he was brought into the rebellion for in the first place).
>>
>>93269223
There are plenty of Clones who already are

The significance of Rex is that he learned under Anakin, so the tragic irony is that he is one of the Clones who is best fit to stand against the orders of the Empire

And we literally see him training the original Rebel Cell at Onderon in TCW. It's pure pottery.

Any battle could be his last, and this is the most important battle for the Rebellion, so he wouldn't want to miss. He would rather go down fighting that quietly in bed. Or something like that. Face it, you can't resist the pottery. One way or another, they'll sneak in a confirmation that it is Rex at the first possible opportunity. How and why exactly doesn't matter, details can be worked out later. If Dave or LSG want it, rest assured they'll pull it off.

It's because so many people bitched and moaned about the prequels and how much better the OT was for the decade after Episode III. So them Disney decided to say "Hey we know what you guys like! Fuck the PT! OT is best!" And that's why we got Episode VII and Rebels. People shit in Disney but they were only listening to the fans. Except the Prequels have become much more popular after Episode VII. It's almost like the fans are contrarian memers that just parrot opinions they see online.
>>

>implying that it isn't just kids that grew up pt becoming adults and starting to nostalgiafag over them

>>
>>93271014
The prequels have had fans for years, and started getting vocal long beforw TFA but the "real fans only like the OT" meme was too strong to overcome. What you're seeing isn't a rise in contrarianism, it's a decline in OT elitism.
>>
>>93270831

The issue is that the shield gate was destroyed enough to cause a massive hole to open in the shield, but it wasn't completely destroyed. It was still powering the shield, but a giant gaping hole formed in it from where the Star Destroyer hit it.

I know the book states differently, but theirs goddamn evidence in the movie. >>93270778
>>
>>93271135

I honestly wouldn't mind the Vong showing up. They were just weird and 90's edgy enough to be interesting.
>>
>>93271146
I've seen posts of self-admitted OT purists admitting they were wrong, or saying how TFA was a wake-up call that they will just never enjoy Star Wars beyond the movies they liked as kids, so yeah you're right
>>
>>93271126
Novelizations are based of the script, not the movie. Which means the rogue one script says the shield went down
>>
>>93270258
The Battle of the Heroes is undoubtedly a masterwork of special effects, seamlessly combining digital lava effects, practical colored-oatmeal lava flows, and superimposed film footage of real life volcanic eruptions, and that's to say nothing of the choreography, music, and plotting. But compared to what ILM was accomplishing in 1982 with nothing but plastic models, blue screens, and matte paintings, there's simply no contest. The special effects errors in the Battle of Endor range from insignificant to negligible. The only space battle that comes close is, in fact, the beginning of Revenge of the Sith, but even then the CGI spectacle, while fascinating, is still so obviously CGI - the digital uncanny valley has not yet been conquered, whereas matte trompe l'oeil has been convincing mens' eyes since the 1600s, and nothing compares to the verisimilitude of a physical prop.
>>
>>93271361
The book-script also had Jyn notice Krennic's shuttle and alert her family instead of a droid doing it for them like in the movie.
>>
>>93269710
>and this is the most important battle for the Rebellion, so he wouldn't want to miss.
Indeed. And if he hasn't suffered from any dementia, then he'd likely best serve on a command ship. Even Rex would recognize that in advanced age he'd be more a hindrance than a contribution to a ground assault.

So unless it's flying a ship into something, Rex has long past any point of going out in a blaze of glory by Endor's time.

>Face it, you can't resist the pottery

Can't face what is not there. There is no pottery in Rex being on Endor.

> If Dave or LSG want it, rest assured they'll pull it off.

Even they don't always get what they want. Dave has gone on record saying that the needs of the story oft outweigh what he wants to do. Dave is not above sacrificing his desires because it wouldn't do anything for the story.
>>
>>93271422
Yea but the blue on Blue triggered my autism. Why couldn't vader have a red Saber?
>>
>>93271201
But all canonical references in Wookieepedia, the StarWars.com databank (edited by Leland Chee and Pablo Hidalgo), the script, the novelization, and the movie itself (as understood by millions of people) all indicate the shield gate is the shield generator, and when it is destroyed so too is the shield. It is your eye and your's alone that sees a contrary picture. Now I'm not saying all of us can't be wrong and you can't be right, but usually when one person sees something nobody else in the world does, it means that person is hallucinating.
>>
>>93271522
Because Vader kept Anakin's until Obi-wan took it when he defeated Vader, then Vader had to get a new one in the comic series that just started. Also in regards to ROTJ magnificence, the final battle between the Force on the Death Star is the purest http://www.yougowords.com/start-with-p/end-with-y

>>93270778

It's the edge of the hole that the crashing Star Destroyer caused. This is just as the Death Star arrives, before it fires on Scarif.

The arrows point to the edge of the hole. And you see the shield up in the scene where Vader is headed toward the Rebel ship aboard his shuttle.

The novels and movies have differed before.

I mean it is clearly a special effects mistake that the shield is in the following shots, but the mistake is in the final cut, unless Disney pulls a Lucas and changes it in three years.

Based on the script BEFORE the reshoots. Remember, a lot was changed in the third act. Now a lot of the mistakes were fixed for the novel, but some of them weren't.

I mean, when the Destroyer crashes through the shield gate and hits the shield itself, you see a massive wave travel through it. Then when the Death Star shows up you can see in pic related that there is a hole formed in it where the Death Star can shoot through.
>>
>>93271685
That they wound up turning a clone trooper close friend of Anakin Skywalker into the progenitor of a Rebel Alliance on Onderon, then when they aged him up for Rebels and started disguising him as a stormtrooper, he wound up looking exactly like some unnamed background extra Rebel commando disguising himself as a scout trooper in ROTJ
>>
>>93271685
Old guy with same facial hair, undercover Stormtrooper gimmick (Rex has done this like 2-3 time in Rebels now, what a coincidence this one random extra was shown going undercover, even though the movie doesn't focus on him at all, anybody but the biggest fans would never even notice the one rebel dude in Stormtrooper armor), and much more, it all just fits perfectly, would be a huge fanservice/continuity gift if they go through with it.

And Rex himself was being teased as a Rebel Soldier since Onderon in TCW

It's written in the stars, how could anybody resist this. Not to mention that this isn't just fanservice, it's a huge storytelling opportunity. Heir to the Jedi has Luke wanting to find out more about his father, and boom, suddenly we have a character who could be alive and fighting with the Rebellion alongside Luke, who can tell him all the greatest stories of Anakin Skywalker.

If they did that, it would make Luke's faith in Anakin in ROTJ even more emotionally poignant.

I kind of wish they waited to do the Malevolence Arc.

Ignoring the SSD, that thing is actually fucking huge, must have been the largest ship the Republic had ever seen at the time. Perhaps a more intense, high-stakes arc in a later season would have been more suited to tackling that thing.

Hell, it could have been a recurring threat throughout the show, and is only finally destroyed in Season 4 or 5 or something. Make a big deal out of it, rather than just a giant EMP gun that gets blown up in 3 episodes. Hell, it could have been the finale to the Umbara Arc, with Hardcase sacrificing himself to finally destroy it.

I did like the Malevolence Arc regardless, because it gave us a lot of Y-fu and Plo Koon love

>Old guy with same facial hair

That's about the only thing they have in common. Beyond that, I don't buy some old white Mall-Santa passing as a brown as fuck Polynesian.

>Stormtrooper gimmick (Rex has done this like 2-3 time in Rebels now, what a coincidence this one random extra was shown going undercover, even though the movie doesn't focus on him at all, anybody but the biggest fans would never even notice the one rebel dude in Stormtrooper armor)

That was not a coincidence. Filoni's been doing that deliberately to tease folks like you who think it's going to happen.

> Not to mention that this isn't just fanservice
It's 100% fanservice. Which is why Dave will never actually do it.
>>
>>93272085
Possibly because there are different plans for Bariss

It's not like he forgot about her, she was a huge deal in Ahsoka's final arc in TCW, and he specifically kept Bariss alive for future story potential
>>
>>93272041
>>
>>93272100
But I just explained it's not entirely fanservice, it opens up big story potential.

Also I don't think Filoni knew in Season 2 about the connection, he talked a lot about the fan theory and how he likes it and wants to run with it, although he absolutely started embracing it in season 3-4

Also fanservice isn't inherently bad. Yes, Dave avoids needless fanservice (for the best, which is why we have such high regards and faith in him) but that doesn't mean he's never going to do it. Especially if he thinks there could be a good story behind it to justify it.
>>
>>93272038
It's an older scale chart sir, but it checks out.

If I had the time, patience and pixel skills I'd amend it myself and add more, but eh.
>>
>>93272108

That's what I'm saying here, that *was* the future story potential. Ahsoka finally meeting her best friend who, over a decade later, has been manipulated by Palpatine/Vader into being consumed by the dark path she started down? You can't tell me that wouldn't be a good arc
>>
>>93272191
Possibly, but it's also possible that Dave didn't want to do the same twist twice, Ahsoka finding out that both her BFF and her big brother figure both turned into black-masked villains of the Empire. Might have been a bit too much.

>Rex and Luke become good friends right before ESB
>When Luke finds out his father is Darth Vader he begins getting angry and not wanting to listen to Rex' stories. Rex suspects what Ahsoka suspected until finally Luke angrily confirms it to him one day when Rex asks him what it was like to face Vader.
>Luke goes on to train as a Jedi and they don't speak for a while
>during his training he learns more about his father from Obi-Wan's journals and Yoda talking to him in visions
>then right before Endor Luke and Rex meet each other in the hallway by chance, they have awkward small talk until Rex finally apologizes to Luke
>Rex: "Look kid... I'm sorry. I don't blame you for going off knowing the pressure you must be under. I can't imagine knowing that my father was such a horrible person."
>Luke: "What are you talking about? My father traveled the galaxy helping to spread peace to those who needed most like the warring tribes of Carnelion IV. He helped defend the innocent against impossible odds when he trained the native Felucians in the Clone Wars. He saved countless lives when he strategically crashed a Separatist ship into an underpopulated section of Coruscant when ships the size of cities were plummeting to the ground. My father was a Jedi Knight and I'm proud to be his son. And I'm proud to have you as a friend, Captain."
>A tear rolls down Rex' cheek as he salutes Luke and says "And I'm proud to serve under you, General Skywalker!"
>they then board the ship and go to Endor

Obviously literal adaptations aren't a part of the equal unified canon, because even the slightest change or difference would mean the source material is obviously the right version. That's like saying the TFA comic is canon alongside/over the movie too. The very concept of an adaptation means that something is being tweaked and changed to work in a different medium.

Not the guy you're talking too by the way, just pointing out that the novel adaptation having a difference with the movie is a silly argument, and not evidence of there being a mistake in canon. It's already common knowledge that novel adaptations are made based on earlier scripts, which is why the TFA one has scenes that were deleted from the movie.
