I still don't understand how the PC people overtook all of the 90s and 2000s kids which grew up through the 84s to 2005s with good cartoons meant to set a standard and a genre for the next generation to come.
Right now we should have been neck-deep in space cartoons, action cartoons, extreme cartoons, 5-man team cartoons about giant robots and aliens, spy cartoons, etc.
And 1 more thing. We should have had a new generation of cartoonists which absolutely hate the "dumb comic relief/straightman" dynamic. Right now we'd have the comic relief being turned into a buttmonkey and the straight man sitting at him laughing and being proven the straightman is always right.

What the fuck was it with always making the annoying "commie/fatlard/idiot" character an untouchable special snowflake nobody should harm and shit on constantly?
Was that Tumblr lurking in the shadows planting the seeds and waiting for the moment to strike?
Don't think PC people are to blame here. The rise of cheap, kid-friendly live action and internet entertainment slow TV Animation down considerably.

As for action shows, well, anime took a huge chunk of that pie unfortunately.

It's the mentality that nice people shouldn't be hurt. The obvious flaw is that nice people aren't necessarily good people and if their "niceness" ends up getting in the way they should be punished for it. Eg. bad guy shows up, "no we shouldn't hurt anyone it's not nice" and he lets him get away.

Networks don't want those.

Go watch anime.
The "why aren't cartoons anime" complaint is getting really fucking old at this point
