A lot of people hated on this movie when it premiered, but it was actually meant to be a straight-to-video movie. If you take that into consideration, it's not that bad, but the studio got greedy and tried to shove it in theaters. It backfired, severely.

I saw it in theaters, and loved it. Even if releasing it theatrically but limited was not the best idea, I am grateful for the chance to see it on big screen with surrounds sound.

I think the problem is that people expect theatrical quality in a theatrical movie. Rock Dog was completely fine, but because it had sub-par animation, it was ridiculed. There is no room for budget movies anymore.

Just don't waifu the royal guardian too much, she is not the only reason to like this movie.
