I had a VHS of a German dub of Sport Billy which I watched a lot in my earliest years. A casual jewtube search reveals it to be a rather cheap cartoon, but I seem to remember some things.

On a more quality note back when I was about six dad rented a cartoon for me to watch while I was sick with the flu, and many, many years later I stumbled upon it again. It was this:

A Humpty Dumpty tape I can remember watching the shit out of.

"Greedy Humpty Dumpty," "Cheese Burglar," "Gabby Goes Fishing" and "Fresh Vegetables."

Each cartoon, as usual for a PD cartoon tape, was in shit-tier condition (not to say the cartoons were bad, it was the film quality).

Soon after the last cartoon's abrupt end, I heard some weird sound, like a kind of whisper. Then the tape stopped and it got rewound.

Don't remember the name of the series or company, but I had two VHS tapes from them where the back listed all these cartoons and half of them weren't even on the tape. I remember one had Droopy as either someone in the circus or a bullfighter on the box and the other had Woody Woodpecker going over a waterfall in a barrel. Neither of these tapes had Droopy or Woody Woodpecker cartoons on them.

I had a couple over the years. The crown jewel of which was a 6-hour tape of an assortment of Looney Tunes, Famous Studios, Fleischer, and a few various shorts that are probably in public domain. The tape oddly enough had the same shorts I found on other tapes, in the exact same order no less. The tape was clearly a recording; it still had that tab on the side that could allow you to record over it. I found out the hard way when I recorded over a couple of places (the MM "An Itch in Time" and a couple of Casper cartoons).

Despite the quality, it was pretty amazing to see which old toons fell victim to the Public Domain tape craze. Like the Fleischer Superman shorts. I think even some Chuck Jones stuff got compromised.

Not only that, the conpanies really did not give two shits what they threw on these tapes together. Just look at the roster on OP's case. I actually had the same tape. I could at least make some sense of why the first three would go together but then Brave Molly came on and even as a kid I thought "what the fuck am I watching?"
I usuallu turned it off after getting my fill of the good stuff. I still sing that song in the Mild West.

I had this VHS tape with a really early, terrible CGI Christmas Special. I believe it was from 1996, because the box even had the nerve to say something like "Just Like Toy Story" or some shit. I saw it again at a thrift store a while back and regret not getting it.

I had a Thomas the Tank Engine vhs that had some kind of weird audio error on it in one of the episodes. This must've been something with every copy because I was able to find a clip of it on youtube.

I had the disney Reluctant Dragon short on vhs. But just the animated short. I had no idea it was also part of a longer featurelength film about the animation process until much later. Which is probably for the best because I doubt I would've enjoyed sitting through the whole thing as a kid.

I had a tape of some cartoon set in Africa. I think it was made by actual africans. My mom says it was the only cartoon I watched for two years straight

I bought this at a video store fire sale when I was at about 9 or 10, expecting a cool movie about robot ninjas. What I got was an extremely low-budget, hyperviolent proto-"Kick-Ass" chock full of rape, murder and gunbarrels going through eyesockets which left me a little bit traumatized.

Apparently it's a borderline lost film because the director hated it movie so much he refused to allow it to be released on DVD. It now survives in the form of a dozen of VHS tapes scattered across the world. I still got mine.

My grandmother was a dentist and she sent this awful short film to me as a child. Wouldn't be surprised if it's buried with all of the other VHS tapes at my parents' place.

I think my version was Flower Angel. This whole thing was like a fever dream for a while, I was never quite sure it actually existed and the tape got chewed up and thrown out:

Oddly enough there's a whole bunch of these cartoons that I recall having VHS dubbed in Korean that I used to watch.
There was the humpty dumpty one. One where a king was paranoid of getting "shot". One with bees, another with ants. One with a cuckoo clock bird wanting to be a real bird. I forget some of them, like I think there was also one with a seal and one with a mouse going to a circus? There's just so many that I'm starting to recall now

It might've been two separate tapes, but it was a collection of animated shorts that I think were vaguely christmas themed. One was about Jack Frost turning fall into winter. Another was about some puppies. That's literally all I remember.

I used to have a bunch of obscure British cartoons on tape, would’ve been the late 90s/early 00s so it was a while after they'd been on TV. Marvin in particular was pretty odd, seemed like a couple of pilots for a show that was never made.
Also had a few compilations of American public domain shorts, including one with a colourised version of The Impatient Patient and another with a knockoff Mickey Mouse short called The Office Boy.

When I was a kid I had a huge crossover of cartoons, it was some kind of anti vice campaign, or some shit like that. I was super fan of Garfield and TMNT when I was a kid, so I treasured that shit a lot.
Lost the VHS when I moved to another city, and could never find it in any store. Years later, I heard something like Jim Davis didn't gave the rights to use Garfield or something like that, so tapes were hard to come by.

Much disappointment but i enjoyed the movie and it lived in my vhs player for a few months before i finally got bored of rewatching it.

My mom's only comment when i gave it back to her was about how hot she thought Patrick Swayze was in the movie.

I didn't have this one on vhs and I think I only caught part of it on tv once, but if we're doing the "identify obscure cartoons we only vaguely remember" thing, I have one.

The main character was a cute pink dragon. He was friends with a young princess or very little girl, I think. I think he may have at some point been referred to as the girl's imaginary friend, but I'm not sure. The only thing I remember is that there's a part where the dragon is upset because he thinks the girl doesn't want to be friends with him anymore, maybe because he wasn't a "real" tough dragon. He tells her, but the girl just laughs and says that of course she still wants to be friends.

Three cartoons: Yankee Doodle Daffy, To Duck or Not to Duck and A Coy Decoy; all with a shitty Spanish dub. I remember it started with a weird/creepy intro with music that vaguely resembled the beginning of Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds.

I had a lot of Disney stuff, mostly from the feature length animated canon. The tapes that I remember as feeling more random are the shorts and stuff. I know I had this short and possibly its sequel on one, and it probably had Peculiar Penguins or something on it as well.

Eastern Europefag here. We used to have all sorts of bootleg tapes of cartoons here, typically with a lector dub (1 guy monotonously voices everything, sometimes with delay). I had a Tom and Jerry one which was basically 15 random shorts of Tom and Jerry from various eras. I don't remember the exact shorts, but the one Gene Deitch one was the one where Tom lives on the top floor of a skyscraper in mid winter and Jerry sneaks in to live with him. It also had the infamous The Two Mouseketeers, where Tom gets guillotined (though I didn't think much of it at the time) and the last short was the Chuck Jones one where Jerry runs a nightclub.

I also had a tmnt tape with 4 and a half episodes. Yes, the last one cuts off abruptly into static halfway through. The dub was some of the worst lector shit I've heard. The quality of the tape was also pretty bad, like it was multiple tape generations away from a really shitty source. It was still watchable though. The only episodes that remember on it were the one where the city gets flooded and the half episode was the one where some really annoying kid becomes an honorary turtle and just before the tape cuts to static, gets captured by Bebop and Rocksteady.

Such bootlegs were quite common and pretty much the only way to own cartoons.

I have a collection of shit cartoon films promoted by this big newspaper company here. I don't even think I watched them all, but I remember a couple of ones, none of them original. There's a Robin Hood one, William Tell, and one about kids wanting silver iceskates. Not even sure if it's a local production, but they were very generic-looking animations as far as I remember.

Can't play them right now though, I don't have a working VCR

I remember I had so many "Havoc" editions on vhs. The series of just motorsport crashes with commentary over the top.

Also to do with my fascination of crashes and also police was a tape called 999 Police Pursuit or something. Boderline training tape as it had footage of injured people and accident recreations etc that wasn't at all light hearted. That and Police Stop! on vhs, some recorded off of TV.

Two claymation dinosaurs get drunk and host a Christmas special.

I didn't learn the real name of it when I was a kid, I'd always just ask my parents to put on "camel's singing". That wasn't even my favorite segment of the thing, but that's what I'd ask for because they'd know what I was talking about.

A call for help: when I was a kid I used to have a bunch of vhs tapes with these low budget kids animated films, some of them adaptations of existing stories like Alice in Wonderland from 1998 by Goodtimes entertainment. Also Peter Pan from same studio and The new Adventures of Little Toot by whoever, and some others.
But of all of them there is one I can't find anywhere on the internet. It's easter themed, the story goes about a rabbit kingdom which collects and paints eggs every year and then a day before easter they select a champion to take them to the human town and hide them for children's easter egg hunt. At first their king picks the usual alpha hero rabbit (I remember him having a star on his shirt), but after he gets injured by accident, a cowardly, glassses wearing rabbit volunteers to take his place. Nobody believes in him at first, except king's daugher, who secretly joins him on the journey.
And then they encounter a pig monster on top of a mountain who wants to steal the eggs because they would supposedly give him immortality, or something. I don't remember the details, but it basically plays out like a typical 'coward turns hero and saves the day' cartoon.
I don't know the original title, because the version I watched was completely dubbed (and I was too young to know english back then anyway). But I do know that it wasn't a Warner Bros cartoon or by any other major studio - a low budget 30 min story made for vhs sales, probably from late 90's or early 00's. Does anyone else remember anything like this? And do you know the title?

I just found another cartoon on another tape. It's Daffy vs the Indians, and involves Daffy getting in love with a indian girl. He gets caught by his husband (I guess?), and they comically fight, typical of Daffy.

I only recently remembered this cartoon having even existed. Never seen anything about it outside of this one VHS I don't remember getting.

Rewatching the episodes, I found it weird how I didn't remember any of the content but I was remembering the emotions I felt as a kid. It was this insane nostalgia trip. I always used to find it a very lonely sort of show when I was young.

It was sort of a Journey to the West kind of adventure anime thing with a monkey boy who would shape shift with a priest, goblin, and pig man. I can never find any info on it when I look but when I was a kid I had a VHS of one the early attempts at bringing over anime in the US like pic related. All I remember was it was a super robot show and the episode on it was about some kid who's grandpa or father died in the ocean by a sea monster and the super robot that fights it later on had a trident. Really wish I could find it because I love mecha stuff and watching it along with MMPR when I was about 4 all the time is probably the main influence for that.

Because of this thread I found I have a tv recorded copy of Labyrinth that cuts off like ten minutes before it ends. It's an over 20 year old vhs tape that was never redone. There's a movie I used to watch at my aunts that my little cousin lost and this might be it. It didn't have a box and I barely remember it.
The beginning was live action of a boy looking out his window thinking about how cool birds were and how much fun it would be to fly around rather than do his chores or some shit. Then a little wizard turns him into a sparrow and it becomes a cartoon.
Every time I asked my family about it they said I was just remembering the part of Disneys Sword in the Stone where he becomes a bird. A movie that also got lost and they only cared to remember cuz it was Disney. But I swear it was its own movie.

well to tapes i watched a lot of growing up, the many adventures of winnie the pooh is one i destroyed watching it so much, that and the animated cat in the hat. In French, chat, chapeau. In Spanish, el gato in a sombrero.

But what im wondering is if any anon here can help me. there was this one VHS I had that always freaked me out. It was about teeth or toothbrushes or something on like a fantasy adventure, and Im pretty sure it was christian propaganda in the style of veggie tales. I THINK they were puppets. Its just this vaguely scary memory from my really early childhood, like 3-4 years old. I remember a lot from after that, so I know it has to be atleast 12 years old. Maybe older.

Another cartoon that can be found on some PD tapes. This is the complete version of it with the full intro and ending intact.

In this one Porky has a "crack train" (okay...?) that he operates, until the company decides to tell Porky he's going to be fired to make room for the new "Silver Fish". Porky thinks his train can beat the fast "Silver Fish" and actually manages to win, thanks to a bull he insulted earlier in the cartoon. The cartoon then reveals new owner of the "Silver Fish", Porky. The cartoon ends with a final shot of a battered Toots (Porky's old train), headin' for the last roundhouse.
