I live in northern Canada, and many of the older generation of Inuit who remember the bad old days don't appreciate names imposed on them by white dudes.
But then there are huge sections of the native population that will proudly use the word Indian.
I can't ever remember hearing Eskimo intended as an insult.
There are some shitty racist dudes here, but the word is just treated like a proper name(for those still using it), not the N-word.
Most folks under 40 will say Inuit these days. Eskimo really just feels outdated more than anything. Like dude its not the 50s anymore.
