The show is still mostly excellent.

The shit that was bad largely either didn't appear until late in season 2 (See: The shitty ending) or only started really grating around that point as it became clear that it wouldn't be addressed or resolved (See: Mabel's complete lack of a character arc)

The ending was handled very poorly to the point where I'm almost certain it was rushed. Season 2 was tonally disjointed, some episodes were much darker than season 1 and some were so light and anticlimactic I'm sure even the kids noticed. Not to mention the fucked up morality of the show, constantly shitting on Dipper and never calling out Mabel for her faults. The ending isn't as bad as /co/ says it is, in fact there's some really cool stuff especially in the animation department but god was the pacing and character development just bad. I mean Stanley was barely even given any time to come into his own as a character. We needed at least one more season to fully characterize the lesser characters that were a part of the circle (and Mabel). The ending leaves more questions than answers and not in a good way.

Easily the funniest show airing at the time, and a solid adventure cartoon. Great animation, character design, world building, and voice acting. Only a few shitty episodes and some things that could've been explored better, like Wendy, or the key that President Tuscupes gave the twins.

Starts to pick up the lore.... then stalls for some reason. The humor is still up there, and the characters are mostly great, but it feels like other than the overly praised NWMM and NWHS episodes, they put the clamps on any worldbuilding and character building.

This is where it shit the bed, hard. The humor became unfunny overnight as Alex lost his timing and got more focused on letting his political buttbuddies come on the show and whine about Drumpf or whatever, not to mention cringey gaymer humor like the Navi fairy reference or the D&D episode that made no sense. The only "funny" moment was the Bart's Comet ripoff balloon of Stan. The worldbuilding was tepid at this point, several characters regressed or became flanderized, and Bill as the final boss along with his Yo Gabba Gabba reject squad was underwhelming to say the least. I don't even care about the Mabel apocalypse thing that Dipper self-inserterfags constantly bring up, the last four episodes were so bad its like picking up nuggets of corn in an elephantine sized shit.
