Homestuck has a lot of cancerous pandering towards the end, but the real grasp of what made the ending of Hometuck so unfathomably godawful is honestly really difficult to pinpoint. It's so obvious to someone who's read the comic, and easy to put into buzzwords, but difficult to actually capture into a few words.

It's just... the ending of Homestuck breaks you. Worse than MGSV. Worse than Weridmageddon and Samurai Jack S5E10 times ten thousand. Worse than a dozen Dragon Ball Supers.

Anything you expect for the ending of Homestuck, expect worse, and know deep in your heart that it will be worse anyhow.

From what I've heard it's similar in concept (introduce meaningless new plot points to resolve questions nobody ever asked with answers that nobody likes that leaves deeply unsettling implications in the long run, all while ignoring all the loose ends in both character arcs and main plotlines and ending extremely abruptly, with the promise of an epilogue later that places a hasty bandaid over a bleeding arm stump to "fix" things), but the nature of Homestuck itself makes the blow hurt, arguably a hell of a lot worse. Mass Effect 2 is still a masterpiece, but I can honestly say that parts of peak Homestuck are objectively worse now because of events from the ending, actually quite literally.

Back in the days of Usenet (we're talking mid-90s) there was a cross-project between comp.info-retrieval and comp.programming (later relocated to comp.lang.c++) to create a program that would trawl through various posts on Usenet, collect images, and randomly spit them back out in a sequence of 3 or 4 images in a row. This was initially done to showcase the "growing" problem of people using Usenet to share porn by showing off the ratio of porn to non-porn images collected from random samples. However, while it did collect a lot of porn, they also overestimated the so-called porn problem (or at least misunderstood it, since most porn on Usenet was either in video format or in zip archives). The result was that the PILGRIM sequencer became a great source of weird, almost surreal comics where panels very rarely made sense in relation to each other, and every now and then were extremely pornographic.

It was actually kind of hilarious, and I'd like to think that the guy behind Jerk City was at least somewhat inspired by the PILGRIM project.

Nah, half of it's probably in the level above ascended and the Aspergers Daddy subseries should be in "That weird guy". The story of Poopsmear should be between Jaded outcast and Hardcore, but it does have a happy ending, so leaning more towards Jaded outcast. The Hugbox shit, for the most part at least, should be in the "Gamer" section, and those that aren't will be in "That Weird Guy".

With that said, that one comic where the fluffy gets turned into a stuffed animal, done in a semi pixelated art style, is indeed worthy of ascended status. As are the others like it.
