Lol that's such BS. Superman is far more prone to idolization. Batman is just a more popular character. There have already been many stories that represent Batman in a negative fashion.

The idea of Superman being "corrupted" is just more exciting because he IS the idol. The original and greatest superhero. The incorruptible. With Batman people would just be like "yeah he finally snapped I guess", but with Superman there's that element of excitement because it's almost unthinkable, you know something truly incredible had to have happened. There also many who probably get off on some level to the idea of the untouchable and unshakable morality of Superman himself being brought down and twisted.

It's mostly due to the high frequency of normies who have never read/seen anything Superman related who think that Batman is really breaking new ground by being 'edgy'. For every fan of Superman you meet, there are roughly 20 Batman fans who think Superman is for kids and Batman is a more 'mature' superhero. Even if you love both characters equally you end up hating Batman a little just for constantly having to justify enjoying Superman.

I want to see comic where Bruce essentially becomes the world's most terrifying serial killer with all the preptime shenanigans, plot armor and a family of orphans willing to die for him to boot.
