That is a pretty jarring transition. I think Taeshi has posted pages out of order by accident before, maybe that happened again? I want to believe maybe we skipped the page where Paulo asks her how she knew about the crash, and that this wasn't legitimately how this was planned out.

Then again, if this is actually how it's supposed to go, then it's another example of Lucy's wildly fluctuating emotions. She goes from sympathetic and quiet to loud and angry without much provocation, and then back to quiet and tender within a fairly short period of time. Better? I'm basically saying that the characters entire existence and all their moments that define who they are depend on these people to write them competently. The writer(and in this case also the creators) tells us who they are, and if they write in a shitty moment its a canon moment for that character. You cant only look at this comic and its characters through the rose tinted lens that make you like it. So many arguemnts here seem to do that for characters they like. For example if paulo is a gay incompetent faggot for an arc you have to accept that when people bring it up against him in arguments and not pass it off as "oh its not HIM its the shitty writing!". Its just a shitty cop out.

This falls apart a bit when the writing lacks basic coherence and logic. You can't call Paulo an ass for ditching Rachel so easily when he impossibly no longer knows that she even likes him. There's no explanation in the story for that which could make any sense.

This is a case, unlike Paulo's Rachel amnesia, where the story is the story, regardless of its quality (and I don't think this part is a problem). Because long ago when the author first draw these characters she was imitating stuff like Garfield that have talking animals that don't wear clothes. Later in this comic she started drawing new characters with clothes but the older ones stayed naked as a legacy. All but one of them appear clothed in a single chapter which might have been an experiment but she went back to naked right away.

Bizarrely, one of the later clothed characters appeared naked in a single scene.
