Honestly I think it could still work. Like Jason died, Batman went brutal and started letting people die/actively leaving them for dead/ flat out self-defense killings out of anger. Jason revived and saw the new Batman and was bitter about dying/was indoctrinated by Ras, so he never told Bruce he was back.

Maybe he was waiting for Bruce to bump off the Joker naturally, but either way Superman's death realigned Bruce and his anger went away cut to >>93219372 but replace "killing" with "murder" as the final confrontation.

See that's the thing, under the average American ideals Batman didn't really commit a cold blooded murder. He killed the fuck out of people, yeah, but always in that action hero way that wouldn't cause an American to go "nah he is evil", but in that good ole frontier justice/Dirty Harry way. He kills the people delivering the kryptonite, but only after they start shooting. He cracks the skulls of the people in the warehouse, but they were all armed and he wasn't finishing them off. He set up the guy with the flamethrower to burn to death but he didn't make him shoot, etc. Callous, but not evil.

Now to you and me we both go "not much Batman", but Joe Blow has been cool with Batman killing in the action hero way since '89.
