Has there ever been a instance whatsoever where a "historical rewrite" kind of story was actually interesting and endearing instead of being utterly fucking retarded? Even if it's on a non-/co/ medium.
The best example of a good historical rewrite story I could get is Assassin's Creed, but even that feels kind of retarded as well.
It feels like the "alternate historical timeline" type of stories are better in every way for history-related fictional stories in comparison.
pls respond
This probably errs more on the "completely retarded" side for a lot of people, but these books were fun.

Can you give me a quick rundown on this?

The whole manga is a "that's what history books doesn't say at you"
>>93167849
Not sure what you mean by historical rewrite

Wwi with living weapons bred by the entente powers, while the central powers get steampunk mecha. The steam punk mevhs are actually really grounded by steam punk standards and the living battleships and shit are awesome. Its worth a read, but its very, very young adult oriented.

Nice.

Something akin to >>93169689. History is interpreted or explained in a different way by having the author insert his story in it. Everytime I saw one of these pulled out, I thought they felt fake, retarded, forced and unnecessary. I don't know if it's because it's a fundamentally shitty trope or if it was just never written well. Think something like the OP pic.

Interesting. I think this counts, but I'd expect it to be a little less extravagant change.

Counts more as the second type but concrete revolutio is pretty good.
