I have some criticism about Terry both as a hero and a character, but all the same I find this kind of in-world future (which will never be because Batman will never die) of the Batman brand to feel the most authentic.

Bruce Wayne cannot be replaced. But he can be succeeded. And that's what Terry is. I like that he's watered down compared to Bruce and I think it's important that he comes from outside the Bat family (i.e. no history as a sidekick).

Terry didn't have the mind of Bruce, but he did have more heart (Amanda Waller tells him this in the final episode).

So while not as badass as Batman, he had more character. And character goes a long way considering he cheated on his devoted girlfriend TWICE and the audience gave him a free pass. And don't bother with the "they were broken up the first time" excuse. You wait at least a fucking day before making out and falling in love with someone else. The second time, when they're back together, he does her in her bedroom right after Dana calls.

Now just imagine for a second Terry was a woman who had a devoted boyfriend. Fans would be foaming at the mouth. But like I said, Terry had character and that goes a long way. And Ten was hot.
