Less filler content I guess. It's really hard to go back to the first few seasons.

I really thought there was nothing wrong with it.

Critiques like these make no sense. Adventure Time never really had a story to begin with. That's not a flaw with the show, it's just what it's always been. If you want a more narrative driven show then watch something else.

These threads are always useless because 90% of the ideas are either fetish bullshit, whining about romance in fiction or trying to turn everything into some Babylon 5 "every episode is connected to build my 900 page screenplay" nonsense.

They were detached, selfish, arsehole-ish let bad things happen to their friends just because they couldn't be fucked paying attention to anything for 5 seconds...

And don't give me any shit about them being "written like actual teenagers". Actual teenagers are far less fucking annoying than them.

Seriously, Lemongrab was written to be literally a shrieking autist, but he is always far more aware of what's going on around him than the main two characters.

There are quite a few episodes that need to be gotten rid of for the sake of not only brevity but quality, however, some of those episodes contain plot points that are relevant to good episodes, which makes it difficult, and really people are looking for entirely different things from this because of how different Early and Late Adventure Time are, so there will never be a real consensus like you'd see with something like Naruto or DBZ in which most people agreed plainly on what the show needed to be.

Honestly, do people think this show should have been an episodic comedy, or a plot driven drama?
or even some other mix?

Personally I think you could get rid of the overarching stories in AT entirely and create a much better experience.
