i'm not saying it'll stop being shipped, but depending on exactly where they go with the backstory it has a lot of potential to turn certain groups off. if Moon's 14 and Toffee's an adult, for example, or if one or both of them killed someone on the other's side, etc. some who like it totally fluffy and safe have already said they're not into that.

also even though of course everyone can keep up their own personal fanon or whatever, that never lasts too long. gets sorta depressing to pretend something happened when the actual canon becomes completely different

also the "multiverse" thing never truly gets explored in the fandom

though honestly I don't ship either, but Tomco got a romantic duet and a shippy episode poster, and I highly doubt Battle for Mewni will have either because it's a more serious episode. Studo is literally the exact same thing as Moon/Toffee (two archnemeses who parallel each other), just with a much less appealing character involved and the dubious age difference between them

That's about the only scenario I could see that would turn people off it, I think. All the rest about the negative things they did to eachother can be played off as in a different 'verse, those things didn't happen. But the age thing would be the same in every multiverse.

But Moonfee I think is one of the ships that does get explored a lot in terms of being a multiverse, what with kabukis Monstar (which grew from her moonfee verse after all)- Monstar being analogous to all the other versions of Star we see in mathmagic, where other versions of Star must've (probably?) had different parents.

That theory leaves a lot of questions, like what happened to the "future star," when did the switch actually happen? What would this even mean considering there is almost no way to confirm it?
Could "future star" be a memory of Star having done this before, and going back in time later and having to redo everything but still having bits of her memory?

I think it's more likely that the things she found in the present were just a collection of things she had in her thoughts, and the "future" star was just her imagining those things then remembering to actually pick them up as she went through the school.

I don't think anything's going to happen that'd turn people off as much as Into the Wand did, when everyone thought they were half-siblings for like a week, but their history seems dark enough now that some shippers maybe won't be happy with the outcome (I've already seen someone who kind of gave up on the ship just after Moon's tapestry was revealed). I mean I might not be happy either if it actually does turn out to be romantic, but that's the thing-- this episode maybe more than most others will shake a lot of things up

Kabuki-Akuma who made the AU was making art of Moonfee for a very long time before she invented Monstar, and even then her Monstar art often focused on her parents or the family as a whole. It's only really on /co/ that Monstar became actually about Monstar with her parents in the background. But anyway, kabuki never explicitly said that it was meant to be interpreted as a multiverse, but I'm not sure if there's much difference between an AU and that.

I'm still torn on whether or not Toffee is going to be an adult in the flashbacks or not. I would strongly argue that he would be quite a lot younger, probably as young as Moon, if it weren't for the fact that the tapestry directly calls him by "Immortal monster". But who knows when he became immortal, right (if the tapestry is even accurate)? I don't think it likely that the Butterfly family has been dealing with Toffees shit for literally centuries

admittedly I haven't paid much attention to Monstar stuff. most of her art that I've seen was the stuff involving just the canon characters

what gets me is that Toffee looks pretty much the in the present as in the tapestry, while Moon's a couple decades older since then. if he's immortal that seems to imply he's just looked like that for a while, and so it sort of seems like a significant age difference already if Moon was a teenager then

though I also don't think he's been dealing with Butterflys for centuries. I think his interaction with Moon was the beginning of this contact and then after the battle did he only begin the plan we're seeing now. also seems likely the tapestry is a bit misleading but it seems the appearances depicted are correct based off that promo

though while I don't think he's been waging war against them for that long it might be possible he's several centuries old. whatever the nature of their relationship was, I suspect Eclipsa magically granted him immortality in the past

Nah it's almost definitely not an animation error, there's even a foley for the sled riding along the ground. But the point is that even if it isn't the original Star that came out of the wand, all the copies were "real" Stars- their experience of their entire lives was basically the same up until the few minutes inside the school. Either original Star was replaced by a newer Star, or all those new Stars died too. It's lose-lose either way for Glossy/Daron. But it's not like those copies or the original Star actually "died", they just became memories inside the wand.

That doesn't make much sense though, Eclipsa is present day frozen in a crystal in Rhombolus's Cave. You might say that these events could've happened before he got frozen, but she'd be long dead in that case - she's like Stars 9th grandmother or something, we're talking 100+ years old, so she has to have been frozen for decades and decades, unless she came unfrozen for the events of the darkest spell and then got froze again.

More likely, it's a spell/entity that Eclipsa discovered or wrote. Maybe something to do with Eclipsas monster husband, who maybe could be actually immortal.

This is exactly why I think Chauncey might have something to do with it. Everything else is kinda Star's memories. But it's strange that Chauncey is there, moving around on his own, when Star can't have any memories of him, she didn't even recognise him before she read the name tag.

It's the same kind of weirdness as to why Toffee's finger was within the wand. They might be connected, since Chauncey also died in the battlefield in the same skirmish that took Toffee's finger

Jackie could also be the joker in case there's some sort of twist regarding her incoming that would change her role in the story. For now she's been Marco's distant dream girl love interest, a role that's required (boring) perfection, but now she's just stepped into the shoes of the supportive, understanding girlfriend who just got a bit jealous and we've yet to see how she'll advance Marco's (and hopefully her own) character development in that position.

However I like her character, so in order to stay on the show once Marco moves on towards Star (come on, we know it'll happen eventually, in season 4 or something), she'll need yet again a new role to step into. So something to do with the sea theme could emerge. Or maybe she'll move on to Tom.

At the same time, Janna could be seen as the Jack, because she's kind of an all-purpose comic relief character, who can be used to advance the plot or to add some humor when needed and then pushed back into the background to wait for a moment when she's useful again.

People have been asking about it since the livechat with Marco that took place after Running with Scissors aired.

She's had plenty of time to think about an answer to that question. She knew what she was saying.

She's just doing what the episode did, i.e. hinting something happened, while neither explicitly confirming or denying that something happened.

The thing is, if she did intend there to be something between them, there's obvious social taboo reasons why she could never explicitly confirm it (e.g. it looks vaguely like child grooming, even though he could have given up/left when he wanted to).

But if she actually didn't intend there to be anything between them, she could have not made the scenes suggestive in the first place, or at the very least denied that anything romantic happened when asked about it in person. Instead the scenes were suggestive, and her words hinted that something happened.
