Middle-Eastern immigration has been going on for decades, and hasn't caused any slowdown in the economy, nor the social system. The amount of people leeching off Germany is a known variable, and one the system accounts for. A store calculates the price of inevitable shoplifting into its finances, why do you think a country like Germany wouldn't calculate that into the backbone of its social system?

Yes it is, it just skips a generation. First generation immigrants refuse to integrate, but their children go to German schools with their German friends, and become integrated. Yes there's the lower class Turk shitheads that are trash, but you have the same problem with Eastern Europeans, who share quite a bit of culture with Germans. It's an inevitable problem when you have immigration from poorer countries, but it smooths out eventually.

German culture is, imo, stronger than it has been in decades. The country is getting over its cultural shame, the new generation refuses to accept the guilt of the past, it's becoming more mainstream to be proud of being a German. I've always been curious about that. I feel like Let's Plays are the Gold Rush of our generation, in which thousands of young people are quitting their day jobs to make their fortunes on the internet. Here begs the question: what will all those teens, 20 and 30-somethings do when the market is played out, public interest goes the way of the Disco music, or the world enters an EMP catastrophe a la Dark Angel, and they have to get real jobs?

Brian has a Phd and a previously established career as a scientist, Barry and Kevin can get work as editors, Danny may have to go back to an office job since his music isn't full time, but with his GG fame, he might have a better resume.

I think Ross would do better, since he has a better work ethic than Arin when it comes to his art, but the other guy has only done one animation since he started Game Grumps five years ago. Even though I remember watching his animations in high school, as an adult, I remember him more as the Game Grumps guy than Egoraptor, who hasn't been relevant in nearly a decade.

Yes, but in the past it was always built on the principle of assimilation - you immigrate, you hold on to some of the heritage and culture of your homeland, but you make a genuine effort to adopt the language and cultural norms of your new home.

When my mom's side of the family immigrated to the US from Bohemia in the 1890s, they didn't "skip a generation" and refuse to integrate. They learned English, they gave all their kids American first names, they made every effort to become 'Americans who came from Bohemia', not 'Bohemian-Americans'. Hell, my great grandfather finished his naturalization so that he could enlist for service in WWI. Served at Argonne and came home a decorated American soldier.

The problem with immigration today is you don't see that effort being made anymore, and more importantly you don't see the same peer pressure from the native population and government to assimilate that you saw during the European migration to the US from the late 1800s to the early 1900s. Now everyone's told they don't have to assimilate, we go out of our way to make sure every sign and restaurant menu is in ten different languages and everyone's cultural heritage and values are respected except our own.

What we're seeing in Europe is that the first generation of migrants isn't making the slightest effort to adopt German culture and values, and they're making damn sure their kids aren't either. It's now estimated that between 1-in-5 and 1-in-4 German residents are now first or second generation migrants originating from Africa or the Middle East, and nearly half of the population under 5. That's a BIG problem if 20-25% of your entire population and HALF of your replacement population refuses to adopt your country's language or cultural values.

What are you basing this on? There aren't any cities or schools where 90% of the people are Turkish, like there are Mexican or Black schools in the US. All immigrant kids go to school alongside German and other European kids. Integration is an automatic process at that point. Yes there are Turkish areas of cities where a bunch of old folks don't even speak German, but the kids all do, and they sure don't want to work at the local kebab shop or Turkish grocery store like their parents do. I agree that the older generation isn't integrating, won't argue that for a second, but I have zero reason to believe that they're forcing their kids to not integrate as well, or that it's even possible for them to do so.
