SLG's Hatbox Ghost was a vengeful spirit that decided to fuck with Gracey's wedding as payback for when he cut his head off and kicked off a career as a pirate.

Marvel's Hatbox Ghost (who's vaguely based on some of Guillermo del Toro's movie treatments) is just a creepy but chill dude that likes to travel to haunted places interconnected by the Mansion's Endless Staircase. And considering Imagineering's slight editorial input on those Marvel books, that's probably a characterization they might be sticking with.

Disney Parks being considered /co/ aside, Mansion has two comic book adaptations, pops up here and there in some of Disney's television stuff, and the development was very much rooted in some of the spookier stuff in the Disney animation catalog.
