Could the Flash defeat vacuum decay?
>>
If the writer wants him to then yes.

what is it

>vacuum decay
?
>>
>>93106922
In a universe where Speed Force even exists there's really no longer a point in questioning that sort of thing.
>>
>>93106922
Vacuum decay propagates at the speed of light, flash can go faster than the speed of light, so he can out run it. He could then just go to each point where the decay was occurring and pump a bunch of energy into the system till it went back to the false vacua state. Literally nothing can beat Barry, except Alfred of course.

Dropped.
>>
>>93106922
Can The Flash solve entropy?
>>
>>93109203
That's the idea.
>>
>>93109237
With the help of Batman's detective skills
>>
I'd actually like a one-issue what-if about either Marvel or DC superheroes faced with a universe destroying event that cannot be stopped by punching it.

It will happen, and nothing can stop it.

Just a comfy existential tale about extinction, of course some heroes or villains that want to go out with a bang, but mostly just heroes, villains and their loved ones coming together trying to make the most of whatever little time they have left.
>>
>>93110754
>Joker breaks out of arkam , runs to bats and begs him to kill him before the universe ends
and the Batman agrees
>>
Flash basically gives himself negative mass as well as can effect something with infinite mass. I don't think questions like this even need to be addressed if he can do things of this caliber.
>>
>>93109203
it's an actual physical term

the fact that plenty of idiots misuse it doesn't invalidate the quantization of energy levels.
>>
>>93110754
Literally Hickman's entire Avengers run.

Ms Marvel - Time Runs Out

This is the guy who can escape black holes and literally outrun the concept of death, right?

Yeah, Vacuum Decay is nothing to him.
>>
>>93106922
>Could the Flash defeat...?

Yes, the answer is always YES
>>
How does time pass for the Flash?
>>
>>93111217
It doesn't, he moves through it . Every moment happens with the flashes permission so you better be god dam thankful to him

what will happen to all these "Immortal" super hero's when the universe enters heat death and atomic bonds can no longer hold together?
>>

The worst of all timelines.

>I HAVE NO MOUTH AND I MUST FOREVER SCREAM
>>
>>93109151
Never heard it called a Vacuum Decay. I learned about it from Leonard Suskind who refers to it as the Higgs sombrero theory.
>>
>>93108825
I don't think you can add energy to the system but then again DC physics
>>
question for the thread: i remember a while back someone made a "movie" out of the first season of the flash cw show. i know it got taken down, but does anyone remember the guy who made it, or have a copy of it downloaded?
>>
>>93111541
heat death, by definition, can't happen so long as such beings exist
>>
>>93110754
That was basically Final Night
>>
Ok so he can outrun it but can he DEFEAT it?
>>
>>93111814
technically if the super being was a closed system he could exist in a heat death universe. Which would mean he can't interact (or won't) with the matter or energy of the universe and can only observe (and only in an observation act which does not interfere with the universe). Something like a ghost could still exist.
>>
>>93112086
people do realize the whole "observing something can change it" refers to the act of measuring it (such as shining a light on it to be able to see it), not literally pointing your eyes/attention towards something, right?
>>
>>93112076
I don't have a PhD in particle physics but I have studied some of it. He would have to excite the higgs field enough that it would jump back UP the energy level. This would take a fuck ton of energy, mostly because almost all the energy would be lost in particle-anti-particle creation. You would even end up creating a bunch of Higg Bosons before you manage to create enough energy to bump it back up. I don't know if it's possible since as you get up to those energy levels you will be bringing about a scale of the strong-electroweak energy merging and may even get to the scale of a black hole. I don't know the math but the scale would most likely be huge.
>>
>>93112122
uh...yeah, that's why I phrased it like that. But a lot of people DO get that confused..hence why the copenhagan interpretation is still used to justify all sorts of new age bullshit

How good is Barry at Math? I know he's a 'scientist' but really, forensics isn't a science.

He runs to every point in the universe (future past and present) and just vibrates. The flash becomes the quarks that build the universe and always have built the universe
>>
Don't most superheros violate conservation of energy on the regular?
>>
>>93109151
Wally did outrun existence so probably

In the DCU there are places outside of the universe like the speed force itself, Vanishing Point, wherever the fuck the Time Trapper lives, Hall of Heroes from Multiversity, etc. Several characters would probably be able to get there and maybe fix things eventually.
>>
>>93116913
There's still the higgs to excite though, BEHIND the energy wall of death, with different physics possibly

I've come to the conclusion that he can't defeat it, only travel back in time and try to prevent it.
At last a brake on the Flash.
>>
>>93110754
Time Runs Out and Secret Wars.

It basically played out how you'd expect, lots of mopey whining and overreacting that turned out to be completely pointless.

Superhero comics usually aren't the right genre to tackle inevitability and acceptance. Readers typically expect direct conflict and a resulting triumph. A good writer could (see King's Vision), but those are rare in this industry (see Civil War 2).
>>
>>93119259
Why SHOULD a good writer stay in comicbooks?

>>
>>93109151
Wally outran the death of existence to defeat the concept of Death itself, so yeah
>>
>>93120185
Yeah but WHAT could he do to stop the vacuum metastability event? CHEMISTRY doesn't exist behind the impenetrable wall of existence destruction.
>>
>>93120378
Geometry does, and chemistry is just physics + geometry.
>>
>>93120378
Use the Speed Force to slow down the decay to the point where it's at a rate where no one would feel its effects and the universe would carry on as normal.
>>
>>93120417
different physics+geometry=???
>>93120479
How could he slow down the fields chimping out? All the regions of the fields everywhere the event goes? The only stop is to somehow excite the higgs again
>>
>>93120378
Chemistry isn't required, not even the standard model. If there's motion, which is a given in order for any interaction to propagate, Speed Force can influence it.

Besides, you like many others have been dazzled by a video that states, conveniently at the end of its snowballing, that this concept is a byproduct of two things. First, the tenuous assumption our understanding of quantum mechanics is without errors and second, that a lower energy state from the current just happens to exist. There's no evidence for the latter and the prior is a WIP.
>>
>>93120595
Okay. Wally excites the Higgs again.

Universe saved.
>>
>>93109151
Killer Frost is basically this right?
>>
>>93120612
Yes but we're talking about THE FLASH here and you're willing to suspend your disbelief for him, also I didn't get it from that video.
I don't see how to get through the energy wall too.
>>
>>93120628
But how, he needs to enter the event
>>
>>93120790
He runs into it using the Speed Force
>>
>>93120847
Without getting utterly destroyed?
and how does he gather galaxies of energy there? How does he not dissolve in the true vacuum?
>>
>>93120879
By using the Speed Force
>>
>>93120909
I don't think that works when there aren't even quarks
>>
>>93120879
>How does he not dissolve in the true vacuum?
The same way he maintains coherence whenever he violates the laws of physics through the Speed Force and reality doesn't collapse on itself.
>>
>>93120962
Speed Force lets Wally bypass the laws of the universe and physics.

It'll still work
>>
>>93121075
I think speed itself is influenced too
Also at some point DC readers should just stop suspending their disbelief for this crap
>>
>>93121272
Do people still read Flash?
