Read the manga, definitely, but the first and fourth seasons of the anime were fantastic.

Part 3 is a really textbook shonen story, so unless that appeals to you it's an easy skip. I started reading at part 6 and it wasn't hard at all to get figure out the necessary backstory stuff.

Shoulda specified that i meant the anime. The part 3 anime was nowhere near as gorgeous to watch and it's artstyle doesn't translate as well as the first and fourth season's.

DIO is absolutely disappointing in the show compared to the manga, and them giving him bag-lady claws was just such a weird thing to add, especially since it's not even consistent in the show.

It's not perfect, but it looks like he put more effort in making it than most people would have

Kira is literally the only good thing about it and the main characters basically ignore him until a ghost forces them to take care... And they still mostly ignore him and don't meet him until the very end.

Josuke starts off as even more of a background character than Jotaro and does a 180 on his personality midway.
The dumb guy is just a dumber Polnareff.
Koichi is fun at first, later becomes irrelevant.
Jotaro brings Joseph specifically for his people finding abilities and they completely forget about him having those when looking for Kira.
Rohan is unbearable. Why the hell does he need to be in every other episode/chapter.
The random Stand users are not particularly interesting
Basically it feels like a huge filler arc. Araki killed off DIO and had no idea what to do next. Possibly JoJo should have ended at Part 3.

At least we got nice opening themes from Part 4. But story wise it's awful.
And don't give me that "slice of life" shit. There's nothing "slice of life" about a guy hiding in a piece of paper, a girl torturing a guy in a locked house, another girl switching up people's faces around or even a haunted photograph. It's just JoJo's Bizarre Adventure without the "adventure" part.
