Masters of the Universe...
The Art of Earl Norem, William George, Esteban Maroto, R.L. Allen, William Garland, Rudy Obrero, Alfredo Alcala, Errol McCarthy & Jim Steranko came to define this franchise set in a barbaric post-apocalyptic future filled high sorcery and fantastical science. So looking back on the 1980s let's indulge in this era of high commercial art.

Good god I wish there was more of this kinda stuff today.
>>93093342
I've been trying to figure out where this poster came from for a while. Was it from the old MOTU magazine? If anyone knows an issue or something, I'd be grateful.
>>93093572
It was for the "Secret of the Sword" special, maybe it came with the mattel comic for it or something.
>>93093342
typical woman, she is holding the sword wrong...
>>93093461
>>93093522
skeletor had a battle cat? wow. who knew.
gorgeous art, thank you for sharing, OP
>>93093606
Two He-Mans?!
>>93093747
Wait they were originally going to make Battle Cat as a generic vehicle builder or whatever the term is?
>>93093795
Who would win in a race, Flash driving his motorcycle or Stratos flying the Wind Raider?
appreciated OP
>didn't buy any Earl Norem art when Heritage Auction had a bunch up for bid
still kicking myself. His art is great
Straight to my Eternia folder.
I don't remember the fucking bird dude at all from my youth, but he seems to be in EVERYTHING I see these days, like he's really important. I don't even know his name.
>>93100381
You mean Stratos, the King of Avion. His people is a race of flying humanoids.
>>93100361
> posting low res garbage
shameful.
>>93100477
You know his name, yet post inferior resolutions o fhim.
>>93100753
For shame again.
>>93100788

RIP William George. You are one of the most important master builders of Eternia.

Why must you turn this thread into a house of lies?
Myah-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha!

This is masterpiece tier stuff.
Thanks, OP.
This is like some g-rated Boris Vallejo shit
>>93105188
In the best way possible.
Fun Fact: Bruce Timm worked on the original mini-comics along with Jim Steranko.
>>93107449
>>93107466
That's actually really fucking awesome.
>>93107449
Timm worked on the mini comics and Paul Dino wrote for the Filamation show.
>>93093863
He did, it was called Panthor. But the weirdest one is >>93093747 since Skeletor and Beast Man have Battle Cats too.
Thanks, OP.
>>93107449
>>93107466
if we ever get a new MOTU cartoon maybe we should get Bruce Timm to helm it
>>93108973
As long as it isn't CGI like Green Lantern.
>>93093705
It looks like everyone is ganging up on Ninjor.
>>93096535
Better than one.

Battleground Teela's pretty sexy. She has a Red Sonja vibe going on
>always like Skeletor and his cronies more than He-Man and his friends
They were always just so much more visually interesting.
>>93116445
Indeed. The Battleground Teela has a Red Sonia vibe, much like He-Man is inspired by Conan, and Skeletor by Thulsa Doom (the Howard's one not James Earl Jones).

Why is that villains always had the coolest vehicles?
This thread needs more Alfredo Alcala, Mark Texeira and barbarian He-Man.
>>93119434
bumping for others
She-Ra>Teela
is the objectively correct ranking
>>93122733
Technically She-Ra is a parallel franchise to MOTU. Speaking strictly about MOTU, Teela is the main heroic female Warrior. Besides She-Ra has been granted with a lot of powers. Teela kicks butts without any power. Well at least before she become the new Sorceress.
>>93123881
>Wanting MotU to be serious
>>93123039
she-ra was an Eteria's deathsquad commander even before she had actual powers tho
>>93125677
And Teela was already Captain of the Royal Guard at 16 years old.
>>93125725
which is a "do nothing" title. since 99% of all problems in Eternia were solved by the MOTU
>>93125770
Nope. Eternians are organized in warrior societies and tribes that in constant war between them. There is a reason of why the Horde had their butts kicked, every time they tried to invade the planet. Eternia itself is a post apocalyptic place ravaged by wars. Being a Captain in a world full of veteran warriors, before even being an adult is a huge accomplishment, and testify Teela's worth as a warrior.
>>93094028
Was this guy who the gear dude from Rick and Morty was based on? Unless I'm missing some big gear-powered-dude franchise.
>>93125957
I dont remember the old cartoon well enough, but in the recent comics Teela is kind of utterly shitty at everything
she couldn't even take despara 1 vs 1
>>93126785
Despara was powered up by Hordak's staff. Without the Horde's technology and mystical enforcements, it would be another story. For me both Adora and Teela are great warriors. I love them both the same, i loved their deep friendship in the new comics (they were like sisters, and at the end they became sisters in law) and i wouldn't like to choose a side.
>>93126785
>>93126785
>>93096535
i think the other one (without the armor) is He-Ro, He-Man's ancestor
>>93096587
It would have made more sense, honsestly, considering only having one green tiger kind of meant everyone in Eternia had to be a slowtard.
"Say, isn't that Prince Adam over there wearing bondage gear and fighting a skull-faced sorcerer?"
"Nah, couldn't be. Prince Adam's giant green cat doesn't wear a mask."
