Wips, concept art, designs, scripts, story ideas, pages, establish websites, hosting sites - comment and critique.

Artist workshop: Show your construction, how do you (in your own specific way), construct your characters? Do you prefer the ball-and-stick method, a box method, or something else entirely?

Writer workshop:
1) Since it was on the road I thought it had been run over, but it took me three days to realize the odd placement of those wounds, which looked distinctly of...
2) "What were you guys talking about before I got in here?"
"Nothing!"
"Are you sure?"
"HIV positive."
3.) There it was, the perfect card in eggshell white and strikingly bolded Times New Roman (a classic).
"Fuck you"
Just in time for me to...

Topics up for debate:
Would you mind other forms of creative work to be allowed here? Such as animations, comic/cartoon reviews, games, etc.
How often should we have these threads?

Or @Tea Love, Smugineer
I'm sorry to say, but this is not an improvement. I think it's very impressive that you were able to pop out so many pages since you decided to start an entirely new project, but I have to say if I had to choose between Tea Love and Reiko's Love story, I prefer Reiko's love story. Tea Love is kind of weird, the premise is definitely original, but I think you set it up kind of clumsily. I couldn't finish reading it, because I got bored. I just couldn't connect to the characters, and the dialogue was not engaging or entertaining. If you really want to do comics in this style - kind of cute, with girls, and and enough edges to be considered a sphere - I would take a lot at Dan Kim's "Tomoyo42's room" or "Nana's Daily Life."

As it stands, I think restricting yourself to 4-koma is not helping you. I think rushing into your comic is not helping either. Utilize this thread, your friends, any other online original content sharing community, to receive some feedback on your work.

Generally:
>General Ideas, stand-alone artwork with a brief background story
>Script, flesh out your world and characters a bit
>Storyboard, it will help plan: long projects, poses, direction, panel, consistency
>First draft
At any point, design things, characters, backgrounds, objects.
At any point, get feedback. It will save you some time in the long run if you're new to comic-making.

However, if you wanna go for a mostly comedic, mostly rectangular panelled comic, then I would consider this:
>Keeping designs and art simple so they do not become a pain to draw, and they don't become a distraction to the joke
I think you got this part down though, although your art could use some work. Although your art should not deter you from making comics, you just need to understand what you can draw and how it fits with certain styles of comic.
>Have a clear start and end, set up your own rules
Reiko's Love story wanted to tell a love story, or maybe it was about the horrors of growing up, whatever. Have rules like, "The story must be focused on Reiko and her life", "Reiko can suffer, but she cannot die", "Reiko does not get a boyfriend until OOO happens"
>Idea
"Mobsters are always meeting up at some discreet restaurant."
"Hm, these maid cafes are always in really weird and shady buildings..."
"Haha, wouldn't it be funny if a bunch of mobsters met upa a maid cafe?"
Oh man, but what reason would they have to be in a maid cafe? And what about Reiko? Oh duh, these yakuza guys actually have a heart of gold and can't resist helping a person in tears.

tl;dr
Wow, you put out a lot of pages since you last posted. That's pretty impressive! But I didn't like it as much as your old comic, please think about the direction you want to take your comic and the best way to approach it.

Unrelated, but I just re-read Nana's Daily Life (2004), and it still holds up! Also, Dan Kim's been replied to all the tweets, at least on the last page when I bothered to look. That's pretty sweet, what an inspiration.

I've been posting my animation work for my review series for almost a year now and nobody has had problems with it. I think that should be fine.

Also it's nice seeing my image used.
>>
>Would you mind other forms of creative work to be allowed here? Such as animations, comic/cartoon reviews, games, etc.
Considering we already have a few people who do animations and comic reviews here, sure. I'd prefer if the focus stayed on comics, though, since if people just want general art sharing thread they could go to the Batman threads.
>How often should we have these threads?
Whenever people are willing to talk, I suppose. If people are still chit chatting at the end of one thread might as well make another one to keep the conversation going.
>How to go about finding an artist or writer.
Learn to draw and practice creative writing yourself, silly. Or go to webcomic/art sites, say you're looking for an artist/writer, and take not of anyone who responds.

I usually do loose sketches- the more complex the thing, the more complex the sketches.

Then when I go to ink I'll go back in and do tighter sketches in areas where I need more detail.

Try to put as few lines as possible on the starting of the inking process maybe? I personally have no prob with the way you ink your pages.

Also done a new sketch page.
>>
>>93075676
I think the main problem is the character's expression in panels 3 and 5. It looks natural in the sketch but comes across as really wonky in the finished product for some reason.
I'm sure this must be confusing to you as well since you know for a fact that you can draw it a lot better...

Your method reminds me of a painting process. I think it's very efficient! I've seen some people make their pages with the word bubbles planned out, which saves some drawing, but like you I prefer finishing the page just in case I wanna move the bubbles around.
Your coloring style seems very suited for printing.

I know this page is finished, so you don't have to change anything if you don't want to. I guess my biggest beef would be that panel 4 is a little confusing, but I can see some dialogue going there and that might clear things up a bit.

Although the page holds up well on its own, here is what I propose. First panel has some exciting things going on, so I think it deserves a little more space. I think changing panel 4 to panel 2 would better introduce the positions of your two characters. Your original panels 2 and 3 are good, but what I propose is that you keep the camera angle the same, that way it flows a little better. Although it gives the impression of movement, which may or may not be your intention. Finally. I moved the original panel 2 to panel 4, because I really do like your art and it'd be a waste not to utilize it.

hm- it may be the look I'm trying to convey (frustration, exhaustion, mild despair) is one that's difficult for me to get across exactly- but I tweaked them a bit (here)

That being said, it's too late for big changes on this page-

>>93076629

and thank you! ha- I kind of love those drawings of Nina and Mr. Bun. She looks suitably exhausted with him and everything--

It's interesting how the panel changes you made make the tension and flow change so much! I really like the inset panel of mr bun's ears.

Damn, I really like that actually.

I'm definitely not (no time!) redoing this page, but I'm going to save this and think if I can apply it going forward. Thank you!

I just mean threads for people to share their webcomics and discuss/post progress and shit, but like, with a fanbase for animu and weebshit.

Most people on /co/ are understandably more interested in western stuff.
>>
>>93080974

I use Smack Jeeves.

It's cool because it basically lets you build your site from scratch or edit their templates as much as you want using HTML, and you can make all kinds of sub pages with their own HTML and the like.

The downside is as a user-friendly host they kinda suck. SJ doesn't do anything to help lesser-known comics gain exposure and only seems to care about stroking off the already-popular comics, which are mostly godawful, and the community is really small.

Yeah I've been currently hosting on Smack and TheDuckComics. Duck comics is awful for exposure and the community is small, I only posted there because I used to back in the day.

But yeah, I'm digging the customizability of the html format on Smack. Too bad I'm real butt at doing any kind of html web design, so I just do what I can. My layout could use some help.

Mind if I get a name/link of your comic too?

>Mind if I get a name/link of your comic too?
Sorry but not at the moment. I've been working up the courage to share it here, and probably will soon, but wanted to finish working on a thing or two first.
And to be honest I to risk being associated with that kinda badmouthing of how SJ treats it's creators because I keep that shit to myself over there.

Honestly, TWC was most helpful to me because I joined a webcomic ring where people would vote for each other's comics everyday. It managed to bring me up to the first/second page of TWC and managed to bring in a lot of new readers, though. I think I usually got ~20 people coming to my site through TWC everyday when I was on the first page.

And thank you, I'm so happy you're reading and enjoying Boys Land so far. Seriously means a lot to me.
You're gonna get so many shounen monsters in the future. Just you wait! I know there's hasn't been a lot of action, but now that we have a better idea of how to write and set up this comic, I think we're gonna have more moments for the monsters to shine.

my Comic Requests is a Comic Of Lydia Fox (From Arthur)

With the original idea that Connor Gordon (the boy who created lydia for a contest) had for her

The comic would be of lydia (with 7 years of age)

while she was in a pool. and it is immersed in the shallow end of the pool, and suffered a spinal injury that paralyzed from the waist down.

Hello fellow anons, I want to ask for some advice on design here.

I want to make a webcomic with a "Life and Death as jobs" dynamic of sorts, but with Death being a guy who actually enjoys his job and gets a laugh at nearly-fatal accidents and Life being a bitter jerk who wishes she could just stop her job because all life is mediocre or self-destructive anyway.

Thing is I already have the Death character designed and thought, but Life is a greater challenge for me. A friend mentioned trying to go for elf-angel kind of look and although I got inspired by it, thing is I don't want her to look way too outdated.

Pic related are the best ideas I got at clothing so far. Those colors are used only for sketch purposes, they are not her color scheme I'm still trying to figure that out too. Any opinions or ideas?

I find it helpful to think of clothing styles as like archetypes, because certain styles of clothing are so closely associated with certain character types and personalities. If she's seen as an angelic and mystical sort of figure, maybe some loose, flowing robes could do, and so forth.
To be honest designs 2 and 3 look very frumpy, as her clothing really doesn't complement her figure whatsoever. Design 1 is the strongest imho, from just an aesthetic standpoint, but doesn't seem to really mesh with the personality you described. My best advice would be to look at real world fashion.
>>
>>93077536
jealous of that lineart. it looks like it took you can do it nonchalantly too

do you need to sketch any portion like the backpack or characters before you draw?
>>
>>93085707
Yeah that's why I think I'm kind of digging myself into a deep hole with her, because she is kind of a subversion on the "all-happy all-loving Life personification" character. And so her personality clashes with that.

I will look on that advice and try again at some better wardrobe, thanks anon.

Making a twitter/tumblr/whatever for your comic can be a big help getting people to notice your stuff. Just add other artists and repost/comment their stuff and soon someone will take notice.
You could just post pages while your making your book and then advertise it to people reading your stuff on the blog.

I had that idea before, and the way I managed to pull that off with an automatic tool was using wordpress + comic easel plugin + comicpress theme

I don't quite remember if you really needed to use a comicpress theme, but I have the three installed. Comic easel is the key since it allows you to have multiple comics in one site. You just need to create different chapters and every time you upload a comic pick a chapter the comic will belong to. Then I guess you can -manually- create a homepage listing all the comics you have currently in your page.

I remember I had to make some little changes to the navigation menu so it won't move between chapters but I didn't code anything, it was all changes in the wordpress admin. I think...

Could anyone clear up what's the difference in revenue systems between tapastic, hiveworks and others like smackjeeves and TWC?

tapas: you get a small cut of ad revenue and can apparently link patreon etc

Hiveworks: ???

Tapas is open to everyone but hiveworks demands submissions and only takes high quality webcomics so I assume they provide some kind of revenue and / or service that is somewhat superior to tapas. However I saw nothing posted on the hiveworks wesite on this topic.

Hearts in the "O"s, nice touch!
I think you put your characters in too many boxes though! Which is the only change I made in the attached pic (left), and what I think should also be changed in the first two panels of pg 15 (not attached).
I think the ramble could be approached in two more ways (attached).
Top right, if you want the readers to know what she is saying.
Bottom right, to depict the feeling that you stopped listening but you're still maintaining eye contact so she knows you're still kind of listening. This is done by cutting off the speech bubble, and having her go over the speech bubble and panel itself.

>>93085551
>Death being a guy who actually enjoys his job and gets a laugh at nearly-fatal accidents
I think this is why a few iterations of Death have him as Mexican, because of how they view death.
Anyways, I like #2 the most as well, I think it might be the way the shirt ends at the hips for the other two outfits that I don't really like. Are Life and Death supposed to be opposites? Because it seems like Life just wants everyone to die, or prefers death. I think most depictions of life are green, maybe yellow. In some cultures, white is more associated with death because people turn pale when they die.
>>
>>93084796
Because I'm a fuckin' weeb, and the style that the original comic was drawn in had some anime/manga influence, I guess I just tried emulating the style.
Since it's a 4-koma (tl: 4 panels only), I had to find ways to efficiently use them.
Would my audience understand who Reiko is referring to in the second panel if I didn't point it out? Would they understand that Reiko is in despair the third panel if I didn't include a drawing of her face? These gangsters walk with a high and mighty air, people should be looking up to them, so let's draw them in perspective.

When I first seriously considered drawing a comic, paneling scared me the most because if I did it wrong I'd have to draw it again. But that's why we have storyboards, and this thread to act a community for feedback, to really plan out what we wanna do, and the most efficient way to do it.
>>
Any other good sets of three? Like the maiden, the mother, and the crone. Id,ego, superego. That sort of thing?

That particular panel? No, it's kind of small panel-dimension wise, and the objects are relatively simple. When it's just a face I don't do any construction lines either. For poses and complex scenes with multiples characters or detailed background, I will do the construction thing.
Attached is my storyboard and the first two pages (right). The first page is dramatically different from what I initially planned. Here you can see some of my sketches.

My lineart is like the least part I like about it though, because I can't seem to find the right settings for smooth lines in SAI. I think someone mentioned it might just be my tablet, and that's true, that's super disappointing.

I think I misinterpreted the question. What does it mean to render? Shadows and dimension?
The lines you drew for shading are spaced too far apart for the shadow they're suppose to represent. Your lines aren't very confident, as in they appear sketchy and fuzzy. I guess this is why I have these gaps in my lines, so that I can achieve a smoother stroke.
The hair doesn't need shading lines, shiny hair is pretty high-contrast, so highlights will work on their own.

Thanks anons. I will look to maybe play with the robe clothes of the second design so it looks a bit less plain. Looking at elven fashion as I write.

>Are Life and Death supposed to be opposites?

Yes they are opposites on some aspects that are toyed with. Life has creation powers and is kinda like an artist, but got a few levels on cynicism after years of seeing how humans are destructive or find stupid ways to kill themselves, so she feels her job is mostly a waste (which I guess also plays on the stereotype of artists being angsty). Death is on the creative-sterility end and his job of death and destruction is one of the few things that brings him joy, because why focus on the things you can't do instead of enjoying what you can do?

Death was supposed to have some yellow colors because I saw in some color theory classes that yellow is also a death-ish color but having him in a white suit wouldn't look half bad thinking about it.

I'd focus on how realistic you want the comic to be.

From there I'd research a lot about the things astronauts have to train and go through so you can push the survival horror aspect of the story properly. Also make the astronaut's personality unique and memorable. It could be the thing that separates this story from others with similar plots and concepts.

Yes. But with Ctrl+Z you can take as many tries as you like.

Like with anything, it's all down to practice. The more you're used to drawing lines in one stroke, the less you'll need to rely on Undo.

real manga artists use a ruler to make parallel lines for shading or motion blur or whatever. they even have rulers with a bunch of curvy shapes..
digitally you can do it a lot more easily. you can make one line then paste it a million times, space it evenly, and erase the bits you don't want

I think I need to add more fire to it... Im not sure yet. But this is going to be some amazing pages! The page sizes is going to be the same as the cover page size so its 4 times bigger and a much higher resolution than im used to drawing and working on. This will give a lot of breathing space to the word balloons which ive always had a problem of them smothering the art and the page, but now they will be super tiny like a mainstream marvel or dc or darkhorse or image comic how they have tiny word balloons and letter because there pages are 10 times bigger and over 4 times the resolution of webcomic pages, i know because I checked the sizes myself.

they should either be completely alien to our viewpoint or be intensely involved with people (at least emotionally). it's like, we either treat animals like things we super care about or like bugs we just want to kill and get rid of and/or just ignore. so some higher being would surely be the same to us. either caring or profoundly indifferent. and that should then guide the rest of the design decisions

Divine as in literal gods I like to take more inspiration on how the gos from other pantheons used to work. Egyptians have some cool interactions and Greeks excell at being really involved with their humans. You can have some that are alien like the Abrahamic God and play with it.

Now for Divine in the sense of "they are just Lovecraft-like aliens", it varies. Mostly they will remains blue and orange morality unless they spend too much time around humans because of course humanity is an infection.

Not likely, just because people tend to drift toward posters more and they can be very telling about the person who owns them.

What's a joomla?

I don't mind making a few basic web layouts for people who wanna make their own website. The only problem is that I've never really made a website for my own host, so I'm not really sure how that process is.
I test them out on notepad, but otherwise have only made layouts for tumblr/neopets, and once a long time ago on smackjeeves. I'm also familiar with freewebs, if that's anything like editing your own site.
>>
>>93097496
so you don't want us to know anything about the character? I don't get it.
>>
>>93097357
Joomla's just the back end, like Wordpress, isn't it?
With Wordpress, some themes are better than others for displaying comics (with some designed specifically for comics), so I'd imagine the same would apply to Joomla. It'll depend on the themes and templates you apply to the layout.

I posted about the reviews long before I started working on vegabond actually. I think my first post here even said that I was simply working on animated assets for old shareware reviews but the project became a lot more elaborate (and less shitty) as time went on.

I posted this first picture on the left that I had drawn with a mouse in paint.net of my then unnamed narrative character probably a year and a half ago in these threads for criticism and advice. In comparison, my most recent drawing of him is on the right.

I took a break for a while since I had a lot going on at the time and revamped it all a year ago with what I learned in these threads as well as new equipment. Vegabond I just started posting about roughly 8 months ago.

I have never seen either of those
my females just have softer rounder cheek lines, typically pointier chins, and thin, distinct eyelashes instead of a thick, dark eye line of thick, integrated lashes
>>
>>93099806

The torso is a bit of a trick because of how loose the belt is, it may give that feeling of being oversized plus with the dress/robe. As for the poncho I thought of it on early drafts but didn't find a way to make it work properly because I had no idea what I was doing really. They look cute I admit.

Usually is the eyelashes for women and sideburns for men. I would have said my girls have a bit rounder faces but usually the cute chubby guy has a similar face and other times girls have larger faces like most of my guys. Suffering from only six faces doesn't help neither, I'm trying to improve.

Thanks, I actually have the same mosiac effect on the later dupe's clothes as well it's just a lot more subtle. And yeah I had a short comic planned but it turned into a spoilery key scene pretty late in the comic's script. I don't know if I should just do it anyway as a "teaser" or if I should just start fresh on a random scene not included in the finished comic.
>>
>>93100528
mmm the new right version looks good (and i love both ponchos but i dont blame you if you dont use those since they are not easy to draw in different poses). my only thought now is... is the scarf a bit thick perhaps, and tight around the neck? i'd like to see it a little looser if you're still taking suggestions.
>>
>>93100542
Thank you! cabbage, actually.
delayed responses are my jam! what I do is have someone say something because i think it's clever, forget why it's clever, put it in anyway, work on the comic, then later realize what I would say, if someone actually said that, in that situation.. but there's no time for an immediate response, so it goes in later, in that annoying blank space I had left.
>>
>>93101035
>art student
The scarf is the student token.

>Renaissance
I think that is something I can try, although I stick more to the old times.

>>93101470
Sure I'm still taking. Looser like this?
I'm personally digging the poncho actually, gives her more of a fitting opposite to Death who dresses a bit too formal and ponchos look more carefree (or lazy). I think I still own one big enough so it would be a matter of looking at the mirror if I want to try different poses.
>>
>>93091644
Thanks for the crit! For the first page I'm definitely planning with playing with the paneling a bit more once I get to adding adding, y'know, the actual panels. Removing some of those panels borders in the middle row might actually be a good idea, since it makes the art seem a little less cluttered, I might steal that from you!
I definitely want to keep all of the girl's dialogue readable in the second, though. I'm thinking about breaking the dialogue up over several panels to let her gesticulate more, but fitting them all in is a little tough.

I've been lurking at least a few months and decided to post.

I'm trying to decide if I made a mistake and didn't have enough of a transition between the second and third pages of this sample, and what I should do about it.

The brunette is a superhero and the simple (not quite accurate) explanation is that having powers make her very voluptuous, and her natural body is like on the first two pages. It's been shown that her powers might be going away, and when they conk out for any period of time, she reverts to the less voluptuous natural form, and it's been happening regularly.

Well, some people were confused about the quick jump from the one page to the other, where time has passed and she's changed physiques again. I thought it has been explained enough, and I'd just switch her without comment.

I figure I need to either-

Add a page between the second and third of these pages displaying time has passed, setting up this third page and re-explaining her body issues.

Or add a narrow panel to the beginning of the third page here trying to display time has passed.

Or decide its not a big enough problem to fix.
>>
>>93102711
I assume anyone who reads the comic would understand that rule by now, right? So they would get it. It's not as if these are the first pages.
Honestly until i heard 'powers give you J-cups' I was kinda into this. It looks good, it reads well.. by the way, it's spelled psychic. assuming you didn't mean 'physical'
anyway, a little yellow rectangle in the top left saying "Later:" is all you need

so you have 3 faces for girls and 3 for men? I always thought girl faces were tougher to draw since you need to play a lot with small details (specially eyes to make them different and keep them cute at the same time). Also I learned long ago that trying to keep them different using different hairstyles was a crime.

Well I meant six faces as the trope per se (yeah I know, TvTropes, but still http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/OnlySixFaces) but some friends have indeed said I don't have much variation with faces.

Pic related, a very quick sketch of the faces I use more often. As you may see, I don't have much variation of face shape, I have like only 3 noses and the eyes are either round or straight or a mix between. They are mostly archetypes so far with how many characters I have done using similar templates. And although my example may not be the best for this to say, you don't have to make a girl look cute per se. Is mostly a subconscious thing we do, but you can play with their shapes. And yes you are right that only making different hairstyles is not enough to make people not a clone.

oh and as you can see, sometimes i changed more than other times. My original point being: you can vary this up a lot. some people have puffy fat cheeks you just wanna pinch, some have a flat-ass face looking like the bony thigh-gap pelvis of faces. Some have a heavy manly brow, some have a flat one, some have a NEGATIVE brow that slopes backwards (black people)
>>

that meme again. it's all animals, anon. not just birds. that includes us.
given how these head-wings seem to point immediately downwards, though, it makes sense. I'm imagining the males' head feathers point more upwards and spread out going up, not down.
>>
>>93105090
It helps if you think of the skull, too! If you turn a skull around a little, you'll see the far edge of the eye socket pulling inward a bit, so you'll never see an eye kind of hitting the side of the face and stopping. That's why so many cartoons have eyes that DO run off the edge of the face, they're imagining if our eyes were so big and spherical that they bulged right out of the socket.
>>
>>93105124
I'm sorry but what meme?

>>93104558

>>

He means that most people seems to think only birds have gender differences and love rites. While it's true that it is not exclusive to birds, birds are one of the most outstanding examples because some of those males are extremely more flamboyant and colorful than their females.
>>
>>93105202
yeah birds are the most visible example of it, but the way you hear some people talk, you'd think they were backwards from other animals. that's the standard for all of them (unless both sexes look the same)

Imagine if navigation systems did that
>start over. go back to loomis avenue
sure, studying the skull first, or rigidly conforming to some example face exercises, but if you're continuing to draw your way, you'll enjoy it and thus remember it better. It's just little tweaks and steps. Each one leads to the greater whole, a piece at a time.

You're right, that is a typo. "Psychic" is what I meant.

I do hear a lot that people aren't willing to consider reading a comic about a busty character, or a character as busty as her. I kind of wanted to take a cliche idea and play it straight, and also a Powergirl-like overly busty superhero seems more unusual than the opposite. There's usually a really busty character in each of my comics, but it's not usually the lead, so it doesn't usually bother people as much. It was probably a mistake here.

I kind of wanted to take a normal, happy enough woman and have her change in a way that other comics would have solve all her problems, or make every guy after her, or make her hate herself- and do none of them.

Powers don't make people busty exactly, just her. She had weak electrical powers, and was part of an experiment to increase them. It worked, but usually altering powers causes side-effects. Unlike other characters, she didn't change color, grow giant, even turn into a tree person. She uses her increased electrical powers to fuel things, like a flying super-suit.

I've been lurking here for quite a while and finally decided to share a few ideas of mine.
So I've been thinking about making a comic for a few years now and I'm already working on it (kinda). I have some important plot elements, characters, locations etc. The only thing I still need to do is link them together. I also already have an ending in mind.
Now that's where I need your help,/hyw/.
I should probably start with the actual story.
It's about a girl who falls into another dimension (kinda like Alice in Wonderland). That dimension is mostly inhabited by Angels and Demons. She soon discovers that she is an Angel herself and is destined to save this dimension from an evil organization who tries to destroy said dimension and enter the human world (sounds cliché I know but it's more than that I swear). On her journey she befriends an artificial demon (who used to be a human) and an Angel/Demon hybrid.
Now the story is mostly centered around the girl and her mysterious past she doesn't remember. I'm gonna skip a few things in between and get right to the ending. (Spoiler warning I guess but I'll never get that far anyway soo...). They manage to defeat the leaders of that organization and escape but the girl sacrificed herself in the process. Now that's where I wasn't really sure what to do. I thought about her being resurrected but then her death would be pretty pointless and I'm really trying to avoid things like that. In another ending she's actually dead but still lives in another world where she visits her friends in their dreams (maybe something for a sequel?). Now I have no idea how to pull this off.
Sorry if this was a bit long but I just wanted to write this down somewhere.
What are your thoughts about this? Any advice on what to do?

You're asking for advice on the plot of the sequel? Maybe you should produce the first part to determine if a theoretical sequel would have ground to stand on.

What is the heart of the story? What's the main thematic thrust of it? For what reason would the protagonist die? Having this character's story and the events take place solely for a reason like destiny says to an audience that you can't find a logical reason for these things to take place past the universe (you, the writer) forcing it. Destiny has been used well in the past, but in recent years it has become a huge crutch.

Having your main viewpoint come from another dimension is wasted potential. An inexperienced viewpoint is useful as it justifies people throwing exposition at them, but they don't need to be from an entirely different dimension to be inexperienced. A character entirely out of context is going to respond to pretty much every part of their foreign surroundings in the same way, as they're unacquainted with everything they come across.

How do you justify all these decisions? What will make this story different from all those old YA novels and movies about modern day people being sent to another world to save it?

as much as people make fun of her, Peej is a normal size. her breasts fit nicely on her chest, you couldn't see them from behind her. breasts bigger than your head is where it starts getting bizarre.
Still, the issue here isnt that, i mean you can do whatever you want. The issue is more that her powers inexplicably gave her big boobs, and not anything else that always comes with that. Like, if her powers made her fat overall, that would make sense. Boobs that big without a uniform increase in fat all over the body are positively anomalous. at the very least it should also increase the fuck out of her hips and everything else, if it just sort of turned up her womanliness genes or whatever.
But in particular the idea that they repeatedly change size, not just once and then permanent, is where it loses me.

yeah sorry I knew I should have been more specific. the closest to what I had in mind is the furthest to the right, but what I actually thought is maybe one or two thin stripes running along the edges of the collar, cuffs, etc. PIPING, that's it. I should have said 'piping'
like this black suit has white piping. if he had a black suit with yellow piping (and even better, double lines of it instead of single) and maybe a yellow shirt instead of white, that would be a really slick look. intense, but still elegant and understated. or maybe even a black undershirt with a yellow tie.. but no i think yellow shirt would work better.

I actually like the way the suit is definitely not fitted normally, the jacket looks more like a robe in some ways. that gives him a timeless feel and more flexibility
the problem with pinstripes is from a distance they just look like the color of the suit is dingey, and i wouldnt wish having to draw them over and over (and keep them parallel ) on my worst enemy

Well I kind of did. He has a bit of a 20s-30s fashion for suits, since he has a gangster theme going mostly, so I too references from there.

A bit on the subject but I saw that many photos of the era show more open jackets than buttoned ones, or use open longcoats over open jackets over vests -damn guys had cold-. I know the idea is to show the classy vests, but still interesting.

>>93118640
I must admit pinstripes may be hard especially if I have to draw him a lot, but there shouldn't be a problem if I don't make them too small -which is a mistake I did in the rough study here-. I hope. Still looking on it.

i kind of hate you, but the worst thing about modern suits is how tight they are, so.. no. the embodiment of death should look comfortable, shouldn't he? dude in your picture looks like he's having trouble breathing or bending his knees

I agree, Powergirl is only marginally bigger than the other women. She's joked about for almost no reason. Although here I intended to intentionally make someone who fit that stereotype.

She mostly likely would have gained weight everywhere, but the plan was to try to take a really cliche origin and then try to make it into a semi-plausible story. She is a bit more curvy everywhere, but it seems to have been marginal enough that it's not noticeable.

The only reason I could come up with about why she might have grown was that extra mass might be required for being able to hold more electricity. She's small and short, smaller than the other woman who went through the same thing and didn't change.

She hasn't been repeatedly changing size through the series, there have been years of comics and it's only been a recent issue. There were obviously strange elements to her increase in powers, so I thought a scare about her powers going away would be interesting. It'll eventually be resolved, and she'll stick to the more busty form from then on.

The thing about a well fitted suit is that it's made to fit the wearer, as the name implies. When a suit is too tight that means it's fitted badly

>All this suit discussion

On one hand I'm glad people like suits enough to analize my character, but on the other hand I don't really want anybody to fight over tailoring. I'm open to advice.

>>93119202
Checking this guide seems most of my problems are with the sleeves and trouser break which I must admit was mostly just negligence on my part. Jacket lenght seems about right (kinda the height of half the hand) and shoulders are checked too. Maybe the closure needs a bit of fixing but that goes mostly with V shapes I think, since I have seen many suits with differences in there.

Thanks for the guide anon, was really handy. And also makes me realize a lot of gangsters really had some sort of street fashion because they sure used a lot of loose pants and trousers. Really the more time passes the less we change, hu.

It's impossible for cloth that rigid and inflexible to "fit" a wearer who owns joints. suits look sort of aesthetic as long as you stand still (if your idea of aesthetic is to get as far away from the natural body as possible), but once you move they look ridiculous. and if you sit, you get so many folds up in front that it looks like a polyboner

Thanks, as a German I can appreciate grammar Nazism.
Aren't the different casts of angels mentioned in both the Tora and bible though?
Christian mythology is pretty enjoyable on a story level if you can look at it removed from its grave impact on western culture and society.
I think Arronofsky did a great job at capturing that spirit the same way many artists draw from greek or asian mythology. Too bad Noah was a massive flop.
>>

>>
>>93120177
indeed. I've just never seen slacks with that kind of fabric. I got the impression they were contractually obligated to be awful knit shit with zero flexibility
>>
>>93120336
I once had to try some suits from my father and brother because I had no formal clothes for my college title photos, and they feel really flexible and even soft. Some photo studios have cheap ones and they feel awful, and those are indeed just to stand for the photo and look pretty and that's it.

Now I tried the pining >>93116915 on both colors mostly because I have been doing this guy on yellow far too long than what I should have so it's kinda like his base, and yeah a black undershirt on black suit is not really good looking, get's more lost than just a tie.

I also added the fixes I mentioned on the guide post, but left some of the loose stuff because I want him to still have some gangstah feeling even if it isn't 100% correct.
>>
>>93120521
yeah i guess in my head there was yellow piping around the collar so that the black shirt would still be visible, but now that I think of it, that isn't how collars work. the inner bit is a fold, it would never have piping.
so basically what you did here is perfect and I like it. It even has a subtly chinese look to it, especially with the high shirt collar and the three buttons, and the comfortably wide ankle cuffs (usually even roomy zoot suits have gross narrow wrists and ankles that I hate) so I'm thinking this is perfect to my eyes. The far right's my favorite. Wouldnt change a damn thing..
except maybe the ponytail wrapping could be yellow too.
>>
>>93119707
I think it may just be the same poster every time trying to bug me. I admit that the very first drawing looks a bit like sollux but I think the newer iteration after listening to critique has very little in common other than 3d shades and black hair.
>>
>>93120521
Honestly the piping looks rather gaudy, it looks more like something for a school uniform than an actual suit. The previous designs looked better imho, though the actual suit drawings here are improved.
>>
>>93120316
Well, I wasn't really looking to seriously discuss religion in this literal amateur picture book thread but I have to agree.
Pretty much any religion can be maticulously traced back to more ancient religions, myths and legends - which makes it so hard for me to understand how people can have faith. Don't get me wrong, religion can be beneficial to society and can provide comfort in personal life (the lack of which I personally struggle with very much.)
But I just can't accept a religious scripture as the word of God when there's (as with catholicism) so much evidence of retcons and rewrites to the point of the original scripture being virtually gone. >inb4 God made pope #n cut out parts x, y and z because that's how the bible was always intended from the start
It's funny how many people who consider themselves believers aren't even aware of facts like that...
>>
>>93120928
obviously the correct one is the original. is that so hard to believe? we have at least two religions who date back so far you can't prove anything came 'before' them (not that it stops fedora "scientists" from claiming they have anyway): judaism and hinduism. and given that the ganges is fucking toxic..
>original scripture being virtually gone
that's where you're wrong, good chum. jews have always been meticulous record-keepers. everything (in the correct version) is exactly the same now as it's ever been, except a few little issues on a few numbers or slightly ambiguous words. dead sea scrolls helped us with that, for sure. the catholics certainly did their best to try to hide and stamp out the original, but failed, naturally. it reallly isn't that complicated.
but yeah it's true most poeple aren't aware of diddly shit.
>>
But in any case, the mythology IS way more fun. I have to wonder what kind of ultra-anal clergymen were sitting around making all those downright autistic lists of types of angels and demons and circles of hell, how many can fit on a pin, all that kinda insanity..
Meanwhile your rabbis (who kept their stuff to a separate text at least) were sitting around nitpicking the tiniest details of whether it's wrong to let a bird see you while you take her eggs.. somewhat less... artworthy.
But they still have some mythology too. a couple neat monsters here and there. shit like the Re'em.

Thanks for all your advices anons, is good to receive different opinions. To be honest I may play with the designs and make him own more than just one suit, mostly because it can bring a joke or two when I begin actually doing the comic itself.

>>93121433
What I have noticed on most webtoons is that when there is a "suspense" panel they leave enough blank space for it to be separated from both the upper and below ones. Also very long blank spaces when it is a cliffhanger for a scene and transition to other one.

I don't know tutorials for them, and I personally would recommend checking what other webtoons do and learn from that. I don't really like the format because it feels like too much waste of blank space, but that is me being picky.

>>93121475
I would have said to keep it if the title wasn't "white light". It's a subtle yellow but you can see it isn't pure white and it clashes a bit. A bit dirty even.

Ambe and Emer are the sons of Kra Lucifuge, who is the son of Lucifuge the god of darkness, not to be confused with Lucifuge rofocale who is just a lowly duke of hell and has no relation to Lucifuge the god of darkness, same name, different people.

Throughout human history every god, angel, demon, titan, etc has been bound to a heavenly body, you see this in greek mythology, roman mythology, even in hindu mythology the red dot on their head represents the red star mars, um, even islamic and jewish mythology, and christian mythology, in jewish mythology the star of david is the star of saturn the god of banks, and money and crops, and liberation who liberated the jewish people out of egypt, ya know? Always a star, even jesus is tied to the sun, and a literal son who i believe personally to be Belial the father of lucifer, to worship lucifer or jesus christ would be to worship the light and the sun, and son. Get it? Lol. The cross they say he died on is a symbol to represent the sun crossing the sky and at the same time the son crossing over to the other side after dying, get it? Lol. When you put your hands together to pray to jesus the ball shape you make with your closed hands together represents the sun and your arms look like the rays of the sun making a pyramid shape, try it out in front of a mirror to see.

But Lucifuge is also connected to a heavenly body, the body its self, the infinite endless darkness of space and time, that is why Lucifuge is the most powerful god in all of time and existence.

All of this is explained in DEMON FUSE my new webcomic. You'll see.

Sorry for not getting back to you for a while.

>I want to have a lot of occult themes throughout, so I'm not really sure how much realism I should go for.

There are ways to make this and cosmic horror 'realistic' and even artistically profound. You just have to know what and how to show it, which is the tricky part. One way you can do this is through heavy implication and a lot of unknown variables. MAke the reader question the character's sanity and have some other possible explanations for bizarre situations to keep them guessing. Avoid gore or more specifically shock as much as possible unless there is a specific purpose for it.(though that is more of a matter of taste)

I'd go 2001 Space Odyssey in terms of creepy imagery. Or Under the Skin.

If I were writing the story I probably wouldn't have had the people of earth be obviously dead though I have a feeling you're probably trying to take it in a different direction from what I can gather. After all I really don't have all the information for a judgement call and a lot of this is subjective.

Are there any good Mega/Torrent/Mediafire links usually shared in these threads I can use to download some comic book making and/or storytelling books? I've already got plenty of material on how to draw (anatomy, figure, perspective, rendering, some inking, etc.) from /ic/, but there's almost nothing on making (good) comics. It Would be greatly appreciated.

Not sure if anyone remembers me but I'm the anon who was making the charmander comic. I've gotten myself wrapped up in DA requests and draw threads to the point where i don't even want to work on the comic right now. Has anyone else done something like this; drawing other shit instead of getting work on the comic done when you have ample time to do it?
>>
>>93141197
Just make it an aspect of your comic. You don't have to bring attention to it if you don't want to. I don't think Awkward Zombie is an example of that.
>>
>>93096223

This depends on their purpose in the story. You have to determine why you have gods or deities in your story and what they are supposed to do. Just like any character you have to establish what and why they do things and how people will use their actions or perceive them.

Everything in your story or gag strip should have a purpose but it's up to you to determine what that is. From there you have to determine how to best convey that purpose.

Are the deities symbolic of an aspect or fault in humanity? Are they to be used as a way to look at human society from a different perspective? Are they fake and are used to control a population?

The one thing I'd stress is giving them something that hasn't been done before. My previous examples have been done many times so you really have to think of something to spin it.

I think an angelic goth girl would be cute, especially if her angelic outfit contrasts her face and hair. That way even her design basically says she hates her job and is nothing like her job. You can maybe add a cigarette to her design too,for even more of a jaded look, but it'll look fine without a cigarette too.

Thanks for wording it like that, all valid points.

Although Dupe is a caricature of myself for narrative/voice acting purposes and has to fit within the universe I'm working with I wouldn't be against making changes to him in order to sever any comparisons and make him more unique. Though at this point I don't have any ideas that wouldn't majorly change his visual "vibe". If anyone has any ideas feel free to dish em out.

Though Dupe behaves very differently from sollux, he is above all obsessive over retro things and nostalgia. His design is based off of 90s sci-fi movie and video game tropes which very commonly used red and blue thematic which I'm sure was the inspiration behind sollux as well. I'd compare Dupe's demeanor more towards Jack Spicer, Dib or Kululu as opposed to being the egotistical standoffish asshole sollux was in the chunk of homestuck i read.

Dupe is kind of like a sneaky, supervillian wannabe, fanboy who gets all his joy from incredibly trivial and obscure things.

The idea sounds nice but I'm not really on the side of picking goth fashion for this one. I understand the relation and as I said it would be clever, but I don't really think it suits this character that well. Smoking would be a fun irony though. Death smokes cigars and has a joke about 'killing' the cancer everytime it shows up. Would be fun if Life just picks the habit and says she will call him if she ever gets cancer.

Ah so maybe that's it.

Is not that it looks pixelated per se. I forgot the exact name for it, but is when your lines don't look smooth and gives the impression that they have a lower resolution, which is similar to something looking pixelated. It's not that big of a deal on the lineart because you could say it's a personal choice, but for text it makes it a bit hard to read.

Now I know >spanish
But this is an example of what I mean with the text. The one with the "fuerte" label has antialiasing, while the one in the right with the "ninguno" label is aliased. It should work similarly in other softwares.

Can I get an opinion on a basic concept of mine?

I've had this WIP of a comic/web series for a long while that I've brushed aside in favor of a more major project. However, I think it's best I get some experience and gain a bit of a following before fully working on it. Instead I'll do more planning for the bigger project.

So for this smaller, experimental project, I want it to be a short but in-depth story about sex, its intricacies, and the morally behind various situations involving it. The cast is a race of flower people and the protagonist is a blue-collared worker bee. I don't have a clear plot yet, but I was thinking of it being a slightly more "sophisticated", for lack of a better word, version of Mogeko's castle where the main protagonist is pursued by a race of generally unethical creatures that are lusting after her.

I feel a bit unsure about this concept, especially when you have people screaming about how problematic everything is, but it's something I really want to try out since you rarely see fiction that covers the topic of sex past the erotic/romantic aspect of it.

My webcomic is designed to show the reader what it's like to live with schizophrenia. The main character has a cabbage for a head, because I wanted to have him be non-human but still something people see frequently.
In the latest story arc, "Hospital: Part 1," there's a lot of symbolic imagery. I hope the readers have an interesting time figuring it out. I'm gonna resolve this story arc in a week or two, an update should be out on Wednesday.
Critiques welcome.
>>
>>93153231
>Schizoveggia

I like the pun.

As someone who has wanted to search more stuff about schizophrenia for a more accurate portrayal of a character in a story, this is actually really useful, seeing it from someone's POV instead of just reading outside medical articles is more helpful for understanding it.

Now on a more technical point of view, I liked how the introduction looked like, and the artstyle although kinda simple looks charming (that cabbage is really cute). Needs some polish but nothing more practice can't do and that is due to happen if you keep going with this.

On a more personal field, is this based on your own experiences or from a friend of yours?

The home page doesn't have navigation arrows. I mean, is a weird pick to be picky at but usually when you click on a webcomic page you expect to begin reading already, instead I had to click the comic page so I could be sent to the actuall navigation.

I'm not sure if this is a template issue or what it is, but it confused me a lot and it can happen the same to other future possible readers.

Now that I discovered how to read the comic I will do tho.

Well damn if you improved your art over time. It looks really fine now.

Just a thing I have noticed and I said to someone else before on this thread, and is that your text lacks antialiasing >>93148846 , which makes it look like it's in a low res.
>>
>>93155637
Surprisingly enough that's the first time I've heard mention of that.

It's kinda just the default for Smack Jeeves templates, (which is where I host, even if not evident in the URL,) to send people to the Home/News page first.

I'll look into changing it. I only post news once in a blue moon anyway.

>>93155702
This is why I need to get over my fear of sharing in new places, getting to hear fresh criticism is really helpful.

That said I'm not sure there's much I can do about the text aliasing. I think that problem lies in the weird program I use for putting together pages.

I'll fiddle with the settings all the same and see if there's anything that can be done. Is it even noticeably bad in the latest pages?

No problem anon, is always good to get criticism as long as it's not just the trolling kind.

It doesn't look as bad on the onomatopoeias because the stroke kind of camouflages it, but is a bit notorious on the normal balloons.

On your most recent page for example it shows a lot on the third panel, while in the last one it isn't so notorious because of the font too.

What program do you use? I'm more familiar with Adobe programs which all have the aliasing stuff on the text options, but I'm not sure if others have it the same way.

I'm so sorry but I'm not familiar with any of these things. I think your art is pretty good! I'm not very impressed with your screen-toning though, though I think the weakest thing about this page are the backgrounds.
First panel, building looks really flat, which I think is because of the lack of line variation.
>>93152895

>>93153231
Cabbage is pretty likeable so far, as a protagonist. I think the comic might be suited for a more serious art style, my favorite design so far is the first psychiatrist. Really spooky dude. "Hospital: Part 1" really gives off a dream-like feel. Why does Cabbage have an alarm at 4:00AM? And now he's up and heading outside, but at the same time it seems normal to him - very dream-like.

>>93153644
This looks really nice, you really nailed the windy look here. Although this is named "Storyboard," is there more to this picture? I'm used to associating storyboards with planning out long scenes.

>>93154119
Do you have a storyboard? Or would that reveal too much?
I think these panels look pretty good. My only complaint is the position of the characters and the composition of the first panel. I think the placement of that arm is pretty awkward, but I can also see it working.

Promise not to laugh, but I use a dated version of Comic Life. I've used it since 2008, and even earlier, actually. I've been using it since I was an edgy 16-year-old making shitty sprite comics.
I've looked through it but can't find any aliasing/antialiasing options. It's a fun way to make comics and has some cool features but it can be rather limiting in some aspects.
I've tried more up-to-date versions of the software but they removed some functions that I use a lot, so I've just stuck with this.

I see you're a man of taste

Cute design and interesting concept. Once you take the silliness from Mogeko's Castle it loses it's appeal to me, but there's probably an audience for what you're going for. I suppose the main thing you'd want to be careful with is rapey elements. Not only is rape overdone, but's is often done very cringily. I don't know if you're planning to include any of those elements in your comic but tread carefully if you're going to.

If it makes you feel any better, I had no idea that program existed and as such I have no way to laugh at you. And even if I knew it would be very shitty from my part since I'm a mac user and people like me are fucked up on the software side since almost everything is for windows. But I digress.

Well what works for you in some regards works I guess. I also think the antialising problem comes from your dated version then because checking the webpage shows examples with smooth text in them.

Maybe you could try adding the text on other program but really is just a minor thing and may not be worth the extra trouble. Aliasing issues are more visible on small letters so as long as you don't go full ants yours is more of an aesthetic problem.

Damn. Perfect name. Have some sort of Dramatic Reveal of the name a la CHUCK GOODRICH THE MOST RADICAL MAN IN THE RADICAL LANDS when he finds out he can't die either, if the revelation is early enough.

I definately will be practicing digital more, but seeing how I'm trained as a traditional media creator, I am going for a traditional media comic, and I will just use digital to get rid of mistakes, get rid of ink drips, sharpen details, do the lettering, you get the idea.

It is my strenght, and it willl provide a unique look. I don't think I have seen a traditional comic in months.
>>
>>93156295
I really do hope it's minor and doesn't get under peoples' skin much. Aliasing doesn't bother me in general, even in games, so without anyone speaking up about it it doesn't occur to me.
I'm glad you spoke up, though. If I can find a way to fix it without slowing down the process I'll try to take care of it.

>>93156342
Ouch. Part of me wants to take that as a compliment but I doubt that was the intention.

Is there any concerns about making any webcomic in the current social climate?

It seems that if your webcomic doesn't include certain things/includes things that others deem "problematic" or criticises the current social climate, your work will be branded as "problematic" and you will be hounded for it.

Just look at the guy who made that webcomic regarding DC heroes as kids. Was harassed by Kate Leith. The incidents regarding Ava's Demons, etc etc.

How do you protect yourself from that (other than "jokes on you, I'll never be popular for that to happen to me.")

Fuck off /pol/. Fucking eat pills, murder your family and go for a suicide-by-cops, jump in front of a train, 9/11 a plane, cut your wrists, slit your guts, hang yourself, inject air into your veins, I don't fucking care. Fucking end your existence.

I will be honest on this theme by showing an example of my own insecurities.

I have had for the longest time the idea of making a comic about cops/riot officers, mostly because I'm tired of the people in my country regarding every single one of them as evil while they have to deal with shit like fucking flamethrowers on their faces.

Everytime I'm ready to go with my project, a new problem shows up. The most recent one being that there were a lot of criminals with machetes rounding my local city (one of my friends almost loses his hand to one). Cops began not taking shits from them and killed one in self-defense. And now suddenly everyone is about "oh no how we could give away our freedom in exchange of security?!" "freedom for macheteros!".

I always want to wait for the climate to chill, but being honest, this kind of project will never have a chill moment, so I may as well just polish it for good and began publishing it. People will hound me anyway so what gives?

The point being, anon, that you just need to collect the courage to do your stuff and just go with it. Some need more time than others -I'm still not entirely ready-, but the moment you know you will get shit on by some people no matter what, is just a matter of knowing it and just moving on with your comic.

They were not cops really but just look at how fucking savage the people were to the military on Turkey when they even had orders of not hurting civilians.

That and my first audience will totally be a bunch of latinamericans who half of them will get triggered at the implication of law enforcers being humans on gray scales.

>They were not cops really but just look at how fucking savage the people were to the military on Turkey when they even had orders of not hurting civilians.
You do realise that Turkey is a unique country where people actually were beating up the military for NOT BEING TOTALITARIAN ENOUGH?

The military tried a coup to get rid of totalitarian dicatorial religious assholes, in order to prop up a secular pseudo-democratic system.
>>
What set this thread off? The guy didn't even post anything that's /pol/ related in the least. Unless somehow not liking people controlling art on social media is apparently being a nazi somehow.

>That and my first audience will totally be a bunch of latinamericans who half of them will get triggered at the implication of law enforcers being humans on gray scales.
Can you really blame them when Latin America is a fucking shithole where the cops and the criminals are all drinking from the same corrupt money fountain?

In fact, why the FUCK don't you do that?

A comic about a couple of star-eyed idealistic cops that have to do favela duty in the most corrupt police unit in the country.

The queen of queens would be like an extra name, with all empress being the main one. (A bit how God is sometimes called the King of Kings)

Actually the idea is to have an idealistic rookie as the main character, but the unit is not really 100% corrupt, is just a bunch of averages who all have their goods and bads and horribles.
>>

He admits to not making a webcomic. He admits to not knowing how to draw. He literally comes here to shitpost. He can fuck right off.

Well that's nice I guess?

I'm not shying away from the location though desu, I'm Mexican and that's what I know so I'm sticking with it.

Where exactly? You just assumed that just because you don't like what he asked. How do we know YOU'RE not the shitposter? Who died and made you judge?
>>
>>93158273
If you're Mexican, you really should be scared of the "Tumblr boogygirl". If anything, be scared that the local police precinct gets insulted by your comic and hires the local gang to behead you and bury you in a shallow grave.
>>
>>93158289
Now this is the mentality that makes me want to do the comic.

He straight up admitted that he can't draw. He doesn't have a webcomic. He's literally here to shitpost.

The (You)s we feed to him is what made him judge. Let's just ignore him since he doesn't contribute anything constructive to the thread and is just derailing it with /pol/ boogeymans.

Where the hell is my update?

A boy falls in love with a girl. He is mysteriously gifted with her phone number. He calls her and finds out that she likes him as well. But the next day, she doesn't remember the confession. The girl he called is not the same girl he fell in love with. In fact, she doesn’t exist in this universe at all. She is the girl’s alternate universe counterpart, who likes his own alternate self. Hijinks ensue as the two tell each other their darkest secrets to conquer the hearts of their other selves.

So what's your work process like?

I'm guessing you draw your comic out with traditional media, and then use the computer to put the lettering in and maybe fix some drippings that are in the wrong spot?
>>
>>93157852
this all under the implication that your "work" is currently big enough or popular enough for your "fans" to start asking/harrassing you about seeing themselves in your work.

it wont,

stop worrying about the what if and actually get a core base of fans that identify with your shit first
>>
>>93153231
Heeeyyy, that's pretty good. The art isn't anything to write home about - but that's not really important. It's a very enjoyable and sympathetic comic mate.

The way you showcase the voices and the negativity they inflict on the life of Veggie also make the effects of the schizophrenia look both recognizable for people without any mental problems and alien at the same time.
>>
>>93114448
Also, why are all the dead people young and hot?

Old and thus no longer hot people die at much greater rate!

Writer here atm, but first it's roughs/pencils, then inking, then watercolour/gouache. After that, it gets scanned and the lettering added over the top (although we do do hand lettering sometimes, too) as well as any minor digital tweaks if needed.

There's a sub-site from the main one just for WIPs if you're interested: http://vigormortis.co.uk/

None of them looks to be 50+

Also, they are still hot bodies, just cover their faces. Most people who die are pretty ugly IRL, overweight, bad posture, balding etc.

IA cheap explanation about ideal self image would be enough to satisfy realismfag like me.

Why some of them look the way they look is something we'll be getting to eventually, to be fair (and that idea's not far off - I mean, Merle should be a bloated, waterlogged corpse and Aloysius ravaged by TB).

Getting into coloring with computer, i see tons of comics have some sort of textures on flats, usually on background. How do you make those? I use Manga studio 5.
