I liked the Red Locust design and I'd rather have new minority heroes be introduced than them taking previously established roles, so I'm OK with this. In fact, this is one of the few issues of Champions that I mostly enjoyed barring the opening scene.

He's goofy and cartoony so he works fine when the tone fits or the action is over the top and silly ( say Spider-Man fighting a humanoid Rino or a dude with a flaming pumpkin for a head ). He'd have been perfect for Wolverine and the X-Men's whackier moments while being more or less the exactly OPPOSITE of what you'd want for something like Superior Spider-Man, Extraordinary X-Men, or Waid's whole run on Champions.

You know, the sad thing is that this is probably the best issue of the series thus far because it has absolutely nothing to do with the team. How do you fuck up that badly that that becomes a thing for a team book?
