Playboy has always been less "I need to fap now!" and more about rich guys who play golf, drink in lounges, and also happen to bed lots of hot women. The women on the cover and inside the magazine have always just been novelties meant to grab attention.

And since every bunch of guys at one point or another has been like, "Dude, would you bang Marge/Lara Croft/>insert fictional chick here<" and the Simpsons is one of the most well known franchises in US history, Playboy thought it'd be an interest catching move to feature them.

So many people just go from work/class to their computer then back. They have no hobbies or interests outside of videogames, following shows/movies/music, and posting on the internet.

You don't have to go out to bars/clubs every night, but something like going to Friday Night Magic, camping out at a renfaire, taking up music/dance/cooking lessons, slot car racing, LARPing, volunteering, playing a team sport or SOMETHING that involves other people.

I actually don't give a damn so I don't compensate them, it's what I do & they've pretty much accepted it. :) They can get a hold of me if it's urgent.

About once a week i'll just turn the phone off for a day or two, or air mode it when I go for long walks and listen to music. During my annual holidays I kill the phone as well. 2 weeks ago the battery in my phone went Three Mile Island and it took me 5 days to find a replacement... I only missed my music.

Factors? I don't like being a slave to my phone. I also have a lot of outside interests that compete for my time. I do a lot of hiking, backpacking, dabble in ham radio, sailing, model trains, astronomy, I like to read non-fiction, I like to UE and in my area we have old coal mines that I like to track down with old maps (sort of like geocaching hobby), bike riding, and target shooting. And with the weather noticably improving I find myself outside more & more. No shortage of something to do.

It's nice to take a break from the online world. I'm an oldfag that used to spend hours & hours a day online in the old BBS days (1982-1991) and several times it almost consumed my life. It was addicting. And you know how it is, you say 30 more mins and you'll shut down, next thing you know 2 hrs have gone by or the sunrise tips you off! lol

I should also point out that I have never participated in any social media whatsoever, so there's that too.

4chan and anonymity has been great for platonic thought exercises and has genuinely helped me in developing abilities for understanding other people's opinions, emotions and viewpoints, even if I'd disagree with them to an extreme.
You cannot just shame and shout other people into submission in here so eventually you will have start using academic methods of analysis, self-reflection and reasoning just so you don't lose your fucking mind shouting against an unbudging wall of opinions.

It has also worked as a great mirror of thought to reflect upon myself and just how bratty, selfish and "wounded" I used to be.
