But the dynamic it's what made Harley so endearing, it wasn't her personality it was her origin, it was what made Harleen into Harley. The whole Joker manipulation of her. He core origin is Mad Love, trying to change that is destroying the character. The character should evolve, yes, but not at the cost of removing what made it appealing in the first place

I would disagree with this, personally. Maybe not so much in the new 52 version because that's largely just crazy and quirky in place of personality. And if that makes up your exposure to Harley, as I'm sure it does for some of her current fans, I can understand your annoyance with or disappointment in the character. But throughout her original solo series and Gotham Sirens that did a pretty good job if not sometime fantastic of showing an independent Harley that still had ties to the Joker without fixating on it solely. I'd even say there are episodes in BTAS that highlighted Harley as fleshed character capable of endearing herself to the audience without being at the Jokers side.

Why does Harley look so shitty these days?
Its like they try and dress her as skimpy as possible but it doesn't make her look sexy, she just looks shit.

The whole interview is a promotion for the new book, the current book and the tpb in september for harley's 25 years.

Palmiotti is not a comedian and he doesn't have a plot neither, Dini had both.

Her origin had the necessary impact to make the character durable, every character needs a great story to be part of batman but Harley was popular since the first episode she appeared and yes, her personality during the animated series was a big chunk of matter besides most of viwers didn't read Mad Love at that time.

Dini is not writing the dynamic in Mad Love anymore like we're reading in this backup stories. He changed that dynamic many times by the way and I think the first time was in several episodes in 1995 so It has worked before.
