Spider-Man/Deadpool storytime.

Get it? Cause Normie fucked his face up and looks like Deadpool?

Fuck you, I'm funny

Yeah, it is kind of funny how Spider-Man villains usually started as petty criminals and have now expanded their threat level so much.

>Sorry, but this is stupid
And yet Slott plays it straight anyway
>>
>>93043078
Because Slott has no idea how global politics work. Or how normal people function. Or how the characters he writes are supposed to function.

Doesn't take a genius to see that coming -- Slott is a good little line-toer.

Who is Nick Lowe kidding? He couldn't edit if his life depended on it.

To be fair all of Latveria could suddenly turn into dragons and I'm sure no one would notice, but saying DOOM kept it hidden because DOOM is actually an acceptable answer.

He conveniently ignores his super strength

Check this out, ASM 98 where the gas was used
"I still have my strength". The other gas just took the spider sense. He could've ended the fight with a single slap the whole time.

Bravo Slott!
>>
>>93044459
You can blame Know-It-All-Nick Lowe for that one.
>>
>>93043035
>Alex Ross still stuck doing covers for this
LET HIM GO
>>
>>93043173
This is a typical Slott rant....

I respect the man as much one can respect Bendis at this point.
>>
>>93044651
Ironically Slott and Bendis apparently dislike one another (based on the tiff they had when planning out Civil War II and the fact that they choose to ignore each others work... even when they are writing the other person's character).

I wonder how Slott would react to being called Bendis-tier directly.
>>
>>93044807
>they choose to ignore each others work
Bendis ignores everyone's work though. When has Slott ignored Bendis?
>>
>>93044900
>When has Slott ignored Bendis?

Take a look at his Regent arc, where he uses Tony and Miles. Its painfully clear he hadn't read a single page of Bendis' Invincible Iron Man book. Both writers took the polar opposite approach to having MJ work for Tony, for example.
>>
>>93044927
>the polar opposite approach to having MJ work for Tony
The only thing I noticed there was that Bendis had Tony not know that MJ used to live with him, then Slott had Peter bring it up, surprised that Tony could possibly not remember that.
>>
>>93043116
I swear it's like spiderman suit loses its gas filters every other adventure After all this time and resources you can't make your suit gas proof?
>>
>>93045017
In Bendis' book, MJ really didn't want much to do with Tony at all. She begrudgingly accepted the position as his assistant.

In Slott's book, he wrote MJ as super gung ho about working for Tony and seriously craving his cock.
>>
>>93045072
Reading the old mags I can confirm gas is his biggest weakness. He falls for that shit all the time, even when using web filters and holding his breath. Sometimes he'd rather quip and inhale the gas than holding his breath and staying quiet.
>>
>>93043762
Spider-fu was fucking amazing what the hell
With Spider-Sense and Spider-fu, he should've been damn near untouchable.

>Best Swordsman in Europe
Somehow, I doubt that.
>>
>>93045223
Slott hates Peter, though. He'd rather just write a story where villains beat the shit out of him.

There is no more proof than on this page: >>93043203

>There is nothing quite as thrilling as Peter getting his butt thoroughly kicked, huh? This is just the START of the butt-kicking Peter is in for over the next few months.

Remember, Slott also wrote an entire event around systematically murdering Peter universe-by-universe and went on record saying he thinks Peter is "anti-Marvel".
>>
>>93043183
>Norman gets away by just running away again

god
damnit
>>
>>93043189
>>93043195
Spider-Man's face is exposed here. Are they aware of his identity and just humoring him?

>>
>>93045410
Oh shut up just shut up
>>
>>93043132
>We need a Gwen shot just in case the reader is retarded!

Fuck you too.
>>
>>93043320
I got hyped when Peter got angry and it was just powerless Peter beating on powerless Norman, but then the Slottlogue happened and I just kind of cringed. This story was kind of cookie-cutter with a lot of things just randomly happening for the sake of the plot moving forward. The Peter v. Norman moment was the one part that got me going, but then it fizzled to a basic Slott rant.
>>
>>93043100
But that's not how spider senses work?
>>
>>93044166
I was wondering that the entire time. Like, what the fuck, Norman shouldn't be able to pin down super-strengthed Pete. But I guess that panel in >>93043116 with Peter just haphazardly saying "different chemicals-- inhibiting different powers" addresses that and presumable encompasses super-strength.
>>
>>93043320
How do you people say shit like this?

I only peek into these threads every few months, and every time I find a decompressed, boring, terribly scripted, uncreative, reference-reliant slog. How the he'll are you able to say anything nice about stories that offer absolutely nothing in terms of spectacle, imagination or wit? I don't fucking get it.
>>
Oh my god, this was horrible - it completely ruined the fun of ASM 27. Not only were two major aspects of the story (Sable's duel and Mockingbird disabling the missile) resolved off-panel, but Dan Slott completely forgot that Peter has had a gas mask in his suit since ASM Vol. 2 and also that the Spider-Armor is EMP-proof as shown in ASM Vol, 4 #4. Not to mention how stupid it is for Osborn to even have been able to hurt the depowered Peter, who has been trained by Captain America and Shang-Chi. IMO, this was probably up there with one of Slott's worst written comics, due to the extremely rushed conclusion and plot holes larger than the actual story. It was obviously clear that this storyline was manufactured just to make SHIELD cut ties with Parker Industries to put P.I. in a more vulnerable place before Secret Empire, rather than have any actual value on its own.
>>

-No one can recognize that Peter or Spider-Man is acting differently during Superior.
-Peter is in the position he's in because Ock technically got him there.
-Black Cat became outright villain illogically because of dumb reasons. Or maybe synergy because they probably knew Sony wanted to make a Black Cat film?
-Peter Parker is somehow like a knockoff Tony Stark.
-Downfall of Parker Industries like you mentioned.

Why do I just not care lately, it feels like there's no consequences. Osborn can strip Peter of his powers and do anything to him, it can be a situation where by all rights he should lose, but I know after one ham-fisted speech he'll instantly win and there's no real fight to it.

All I'm left with is that there's a feeling there's something wrong with Spider-man these days.

It feels like its particular to Slott's writing

>it can be a situation where by all rights he should lose, but I know after one ham-fisted speech he'll instantly win and there's no real fight to it.
Perfect explanation of one of the major problems with Slott's writing. Dude can't stick a landing to save his life. It's buildup, buildup, buildup, and then in one fell swoop Spidey presses the win button. It happened in Ends of the Earth. It happened in Superior Spider-Man. And it happened here.
>>
>>93043132

That's a good page

How bad is Normie going to get bullied if he ever reaches school age?
Like for so many reasons?
>>
>>93049275
I'm kind of hoping Ultimate Harry Osborn turns up. Given that Norman and Peter came back due to the serum, it'd make sense.

They don't have to do anything with him but that kid's life sucked, he deserves a bit of happiness. Just have him pop up in one of those extended issues living a peaceful normal life under a different name. It wasn't like his death was that impactful anyway.
>>
>>93043195
>>93046795
First thing that came to mind. That was supposed to be a turning point to Norman. The story was advertised as him being more dangerous than ever before because he was no longer insane. And now he comes to the conclusion that he has to be insane to beat spiderman even though that has never fucking worked? Even though it fucked him over during dark reign? A single defeat in a encounter that could have gone either way, that Peter won by hitting him with a rock, convinces him that it's better to go back being a looney. Come on.
>>
>>93043132
As terrible as this comic was, Peter going berserk and Norman being a complete dick are always a delight to read.
>>
>>93045410
You son of a bitch.
>>
>>93049275
>As you know, many survivors from the destroyed Ultimate Universe are appearing.
Wait, what

Is there any ultimate characters showing up along 616 counterparts? I thought it was just original shit like Miles or Triskeleons.
>>
>>93050458
I wish I could have saved that edit some anon made of Norman hopping on a badly drawn water craft on the gutter of the page.
>>
>>93043213
>Hydra octopus

I'd be hyped but then again I was hyped for Norman.
>>
>>93043035

I can't believe they got Alex Ross to draw all those covers. He could have drawn some Rebirth series. What a waste.
>>
Nothing happens, the comic.
>>
>>93055564
Well he did get hit with a rock, maybe he's suffering from blood clots and brain damage.
>suddently on issue #50 you just see Green Goblin drop dead out of nowhere because ne never bothered to check up on his internal bleeding.
>>
>>93055655
Ultimate Reed Richards was in New Avengers, is currently in Infamous Iron Man, and will show up in Ultimates 2, but not alongside 616 Richards.
>>
>>93049978
You mean villains that know? Doc Ock and Miles Warren.
>>
>>93055788
Slott cares more about Doc Ock than Norman. It should be more entertaining.
>>
>>93049978
FF, MJ, whoever was in New Avengers during Bendis' run, Cap, Ock, the midget, Miggy. I think Tony still doesn't know at this point
>>
>>93046773
Can we please have Ultimate Nick replace Nick Fury Jr.?
>>
>>93056641
I'm dying.
>>
>>93045481
He's "mocking" Ditko/Lee era where Spider-Sense worked as the plot demanded, like how DOOM could summon him by tuning into his Spider-Sense's "frequency" and other weird ideas.
>>
>>93054994
If the villain has all the cards and prep, and by all rights should be winning, then they have to really convince us why the hero wins. Not just "Okay its time for the hero to one shot him and win now". That's an issue with this type of writing.

Its Fairy Tail level writing

Which lemme tell you, is basically the lowest level of hero story writing. The heroes just win; there's nothing to it, it doesn't mean anything, there's no reason why the heroes win, they just win.

Previously even if Peter wins he still gets dicked over. Either he had to make some imperfect choices with consequences, or something else went wrong. Which is still better than just "Okay time to win now".

Anyone remember when SHIELD recruited Spider-Man to dispose Dr. DOOM?

In a world with super tech you find it unlikely that an energized wing suit can catch up to a big as low budget rocket? I mean really? If it were someone like Angel I'd be wondering about that, but seeing as how it's a tech suit I can easily get past this.

I wouldn't say that. The Initiative, while a little scattered, is still one of my favorite books. He's just very hit-or-miss.

When was the last time Alex Ross drew something for DC? Does he have an exclusive contract with Marvel right now? Did he have a falling out with DC? I also find it ironic that he's drawn nearly all of Marvel's new legacy characters yet was very against drawing DC characters like Kyle Rayner and Cassandra Cain back in the day.

Because Slott is relying heavily on "wow" factor.
It doesn't matter if the story is shit, or the dialogue is shit, or whatever. The "wow" factor will distract some people from how shit it is. Wow, Spider-Man is punching Norman Osborn again. Wow, Spider-Man is rich now. Wow, Doctor Octopus is Spider-Man now. So cool.
Etc, etc,
Honestly, that's why Slott gets on my nerves so much. A grounded, story with lots of human touch became generic action shit with no good plot, characterization or dialogue.
>>
>>93060481
There wasn't even much wow in this story, that's what makes it almost unforgivable. The only good part was Norman and Peter duking it out and even that could have been done better.
>>
>>93043074
>Nuh-uh
Why does Slott always write like this? Whenever he uses the phrases like this, it's so bad.
>>
>>93060739
>>93043082
>Preach!
I agree, this is really annoying.
>>
>>93043162
So, why did he change his face back to Norman Osborne?
>>
>>93043320
t. Dan Slott
>>
Someone on SA brought up a question:

>Can anyone explain Norman Osborn's master plan or even general motivations in ASM?

>1) Norman Osborn was outed as the Green Goblin and a super criminal, so he goes into hiding.

>2) Because he is a super criminal, he needs to take on a new identity so no one suspects he is a super criminal while he's running drugs and weapons in a criminal enterprise.

>3) In order to keep anyone from knowing he's the Green Goblin, one of the main things he is smuggling as an anonymous criminal is Goblin Bombs.

>4) Further, to keep a low profile while he's illegally selling Goblin Bombs to people, the identities he steals are those of other infamous criminals.

>5) Oh yeah also even though he has all sorts of super advanced technology and has personally used holograms before and frequently employs a technology/power based master of disguise, he goes through agonizing Face Off plastic surgery every time he wants to swap identities.
>>
>>93062085
Good ol' Slott.
>>
>>93062085
>>93062808

To be fair on the last point that's probably the hardest face change to detect.
>>
>>93053774
I may be remembering wrong, but I believe he started his training under Shang Chi wearing some sort of power suppressor, so he learned at least some good basics that he could use without powers.
Also, there's been a few stories where Spidey has lost his powers, but he still remained extremely fit from all the years and years of exercise. An extremely fit twenty-eightish year old man who knows martial arts, should be able to kick the hell out of a 55 year old dude no problem.
>>
>>93046498
>expecting writers to understand that

Nah, either you're either trained in karate/kung-fu or you're a total scrub in H2H no matter how much experience you have. At least according to comic writers.
>>
>>93053774
That makes no fucking sense. That's even more illogical than JLA: Act of God.
>>
>>93043195
>>93043189
I thought Harry and Aunt May knew the secret identity now?
>>
>>93052083
Shit taste confirmed.
>>
>>93057115
>It should be more entertaining.
"Should" is the key word. But knowing Slott, it won't be. It'll be a lot of build up and then a super rushed ending in the final issue.

But Spider-Man was trained by Shang-Chi in king-fu. So what's Slott's excuse?
>>

This arc was as phoned in as it gets because Slott ignored a ton of things he had established himself.

This is a Bendis-tier story.
>>
>>93066168
>This arc was as phoned in as it gets because Slott ignored a ton of things he had established himself.

That's completely irrelevant. It still happened. Which makes >>93043162 fucking stupid. Slott is ignoring (or has forgotten about) his own plot points.
