How does anyone hate Bill Nye man
The guy literally only cares about getting kids and older interested and involved in science so that we stay competitive in innovation and discoveries.

The whole point of that creationist debate was because he genuinely believed that guy was running a scam, and now people think he is trying to run some scam. Science Guy, not scientist. He doesn't call himself a scientist, he WANTS more scientists.

I never understood this Nye hate autism. This isn't a Bill Maher quote. He is speaking from the perspective of a professor, not someone steeped in ideology.

We've reached the point in our world where we are insular, tribal, and assholish.

Our own side may not be questioned, or it must be only in hushed tones behind hands while we give shit to public detractors. People don't dare go after their own side since you'd have half the people hating the other guy and everyone hating theirs. Meanwhile the people we put on pedestals more and more recognize and bask in their ability to do no wrong and take advantage of it.

They did. Early on they explain that they retaliated and launched a full scale war against the Tree Folk so they have space to build Bedrock City. Fred and Barney realized that they were in fact the aggressors, because the Tree Folk had their kids there as well.

Bam Bam was the last remaining Tree Folk baby, that they orphaned. Barney decided to raise him, because they couldn't get a child of their own (slow sperm, according to the oracle).

The loyal order of the water buffalo is their war veteran support club, with some members suffering from PTSD.

Russell writes a book poking fun at human foibles and finally gets to the place where he's got arguably the lowest hanging fruit right in front of him. He could have easily built a strawman or depicted both sides as absurd to follow his narrative.

And instead, in 3 pages he dignifies both positions at no expense to the other in a way most media is hard put to do, leaving you feeling able to appreciate them not merely tolerate them, like an actual adult who understands that it's necessary to hold opposing positions in life.

This could have been Groening/MacFarlane 90s cynicism across the board. I'm really glad it wasn't.

OK let me qualify that. I haven't really hated a President I didn't vote for in a long time. One of the reasons I dislike this show is because I don't need television to confirm my point of view and most of the time it's done in simplistic, cringeworthy fashion.

I think what worked is that he didn't take the easy way out for some of the characters. Like it would've been real easy to be like some other shows or whatever and have Sargon always be right just because he's a scientist and the priest be completely backwards in his way of thinking just because he practices religion.

But in the series you see that Sargon made a very major, avoidable error that caused chaos in the streets and the priest was discriminated against because he believed in monogamy (and in turn he wasn't sold on same-sex marriages because his religion believed they needed to reproduce to survive). They have their good points and bad points as characters.

Did this final chapter in the Flintstones teach you nothing? Did it not just remind you not to be a reactionary? Why even give so much of a shit about this Bill Nye thing? Your opinion has no influence on reality, and neither will his show over the next few years. Getting worked up enough about it in a reactionary way is just silly and a waste of energy.

The lizard folk didn't get the benefit of the early bonfire boom that Bedrock had, before any kind of smoke regulation was set up. Holding a less developed people (even if they're sunbathing freaks) to the same standards as the more developed Bedrock society would be ridiculous and overall would only benefit Bedrock by slowing down the growth of the lizard people's society.

They make up a third of the world's population, have the world's second largest rock hoard and produce twice as much smoke emissions as the rest of the western world combined.
The paris peace pipe would only require Bedrock to send rocks to lizard people while they continue making and possibly even increassing their smoke emissions.
This does not solve the problem at all and was just a thinly veiled attempt at disguising marx bear worship as environmental policy.

Its just as liberal as it is conservative, the only rule seems to be you have to be a cunt that is attacking others rather than defending or explaining a position without relying on a strawman or cartoonish exaggeration.

>Its just as liberal as it is conservative, the only rule seems to be you have to be a cunt that is attacking others rather than defending or explaining a position without relying on a strawman or cartoonish exaggeration.
To be fair, that's true of every board.
>>
>>93051666
It doesn't get shit done, but try getting them into a conversation about arms and armor.

Instead of calling each other stupid cunts and using memes, they just call each other stupid OR cunts and legitimately discuss while citing established data.

/pol/ is the breakdown of civil discourse. Nobody can change anybody's mind, and only make statements against strawman versions of their position opponent.
>>
>>93051727
most boards that aren't /tv/, /pol/, and /v/ are actually pretty civil

yes, even /co/ sometimes
>>
>>93051748
All those boards are capable of being civil, and there're some good conversations buried in the shitposts... but as a rule, 90% of conversations on 4chan are just flinging shit at one another.
>>
>>93051770
Overall yes.

But board to board it does differ.

Boards dedicated to a craft are the least likely, since they are interested in you refining your talent as well as swapping information.
>>

This comic was shut down for exposing the truth that white nuclear families have done nothing but destroy society and points out the evils of capitalism.

Communism is the only clear choice as the comic showed and why it got shut down because the publisher was afraid of being blamed for the revolution that is sweeping america as more and more people are turning to truth in communism.

It was a longshot at getting an extended run, with focus on the trades.

I'm waiting till next years Eisners to see if Russell or Flintstones show up. If not, then I'll really know the Eisners have gotten worse.

If it had done gangbusters and picked up an eisner, it would have gotten an extension.

>Tell that to India.

I'm reminded me of when the US went batshit over the French nuclear testing in the 90s. After almost a half century and thousands of open air nuke tests you really are the kettle calling the pot black. Same goes for anything related to carbon emissions.

back up those stats with a source because im calling bs

/co/ rarely gets more than 500 ips, and at most 1000 unique ips at the MOST peak of peak posts.

Fine. The most degenerate performance ever staged and broadcast for a main audience in exchange for money.

That would require a fucking massive number of lurkers. Or bots. We eke out less than 1 million posts per month.

Looking at https://catalog.neet.tv/stats.html you'll see that /co/ is a medium traffic board, dwarfed by /pol/ /v/ and /tv/

My father was a firm believer that science is the process of us understanding the ways of God. That the universe and it's workings are the language of God. Any old shit that contradicts science isn't proof of a lack of God. It's just our limited understanding of God showing itself. He believed science was humanity's way of growing closer to understanding God and no longer being a fallen people.

It's always been an incredibly compelling point of view.

The idea that religion means you disregard science was so ridiculous to me that I thought anything I heard about religious people or conservatives in the US was satire until I was in college.
I just couldn't wrap my head around the idea that there were actually people that stupid.
Trying to understand what or how God does things is not some great sacrilege.
Once I actually did some goggling on it to try and figure out where the hell people got these stupid ideas from and discovered that for most of Islamic history the official stance was that learning science was an actual religious duty. (Man gets dominion over the Earth. To take care of something you must understand it. Ergo, science is your religious duty give to Adam by God himself.)
Things are a bit different nowadays but that probably has to do with us placing a cult that was exiled to the dessert for being crazy in charge of the middle east after the collapse of the Ottoman empire.

The Islamic golden age ended because of factionalism after the Sunni/Shia split was worsened by conflict in their backyards with Europe.

When you have a culture united more than divided you have amazing scientific progress. That's why almost every science fiction story has a more united Earth.

Globalism=flying cars and Starship Enterprise.

the thing is, science has NEVER offered support for biblical history.

science offers support for many things that are real. the fact that the bible (or any other specific holy book concerning miraculous events) has never had supporting evidence to back it up is suspect.

It's true that science does not absolutely disprove god, but the fact that so many people hide behind that fact and act like that means its perfectly fine to believe something absolutely without any evidence is honestly quite scary.

it says a lot about the nature (and lack) of human intelligence.

Any biblical scholar will tell you that the stories in the old testament are things that were passed down from far older stories (that had many versions). It's only the idiotic public perception that insists the Old Testament has to be literally 100% true down to every single word.
>>
>>93068799
Or that King James is a good translation.
>>
>>93068799
obviously the old testament is proven to be bullshit. but the new testament is still just unproven myths. my argument is that having a lack of evidence of anything is a poor reason to believe in something.

Christ, don't get me started on modern English translations being full of "well I thought it would sound better if it told MY version of the religion!" translations, which should be considered blasphemy. Not to mention how many people think the Bible was originally in English.
