Did it ever strike you that your childhood cartoon was irredeemable garbage and using it as the primary basis for a big budget movie was an awful ideal?
It worked for Transformers.
I think the only awful idea with the Turtles movie was aiming for an older audience. If the first one had aimed at the same younger audience as the second one, it might have been better received, and more people would've seen the better, second one.

But Out of the Shadows actually and some entertainment value outside of its shallow plot and toyetic roots. It's not an irredeemable piece of shit like the first movie and even gave us some rather enjoyable performances regardless of the sum of its parts.
