I just had to post this.

Is this a Lola thread?
>>

It wouldn't
>>
>>93040380
It would have to retcon the first movie out of existence, since, nostalgia boners aside, it is shit.

Then it would have to retcon ITSELF, since the premise if shit by default.
>>
>>93040380
no, both NBA and Looney Toons aren't as big with kids, although it'd still make 200 mil coz braindead 90s kids would go for the meme
>>
>>93040380
No. People don't care about Looney Tunes and basketball anymore.
>>
>>93040481
It's Time Warner's fault that Looney Tunes isn't as big with kids anymore given their moronic handling of the property

Basketball isn't popular anymore. The sequel would probably be about WWE.
>>
>>93040567

I don't get how they fucked it up so bad. It got a boost in popularity from who framed roger rabbit, got us Tiny Toons, while the original had steady ratings on syndication, a major box office success from a basketball movie? They dragged ass with it so bad. Taking too long, having all these too late, too flat projects.
>>
>>93040749
they did the same shit all the other shills did and tried to turn looney tunes into some shitty modern slice of life after not making any new content for like a decade that wasnt a shitty spin off though i wont complain about the existence of duck dodgers

and by the time they tried to go back to their roots with wabbit they already lost their footing and the teams working on them clearly arent making enough hourly to put any heart into it

Never. It'd have to be more than just one NBA player for it to be even remotely equal. They could show the toons going after Mike ... only for Mike to have some kind of funny accident and not be able to play, only for him to get a bunch of NBA players to play on the team:

yeah, it's a kids movie. the only problem is that the Looney Tunes aren't as popular now as they were 20 years ago and no one is as popular as MJ.

so LBJ as MJ, Michael Rappaport as Bill Murray

and Lebron's buddies, Melo, CP3 , Wade, Bosh and Big Z as the Monstars.

I remember growing up playing basketball in my backyard one-on-one with Michael Jordan. My dumb ass would always let him win because he was god to to me. You can never defy God. MJ was my world: I had the shoes, the calendar, and ate my Wheaties everyday. I was a kid who fell for the system. A small Persian kid who grew up on Magic but was stolen by Jordan. My point is, as children we have idols. They push us to achieve and to dream. My dreams got me here…wherever here is. You feel me?

In 2005, I met my God…my idol, Michael Jordan, in Salt Lake City at another Golf Celebrity Tournament. I wasn’t Nik Richie, I was Hooman Karamian, the OC brat living in Scottsdale trying to make ends meet. I could barely afford the flight. But I had a VIP pass given to me by my first wife who busted her ass to throw a party for these mythical athletes/celebs.

I stood there next to Michael Jordan, staring at him wondering what the **** do I say. I had my moment that night. My hero stood there, shook my hand, and asked me something that changed my world. He looked down on me and asked me “Can I fuk your wife?” and I laughed thinking it was a funny joke. The thing was he wasn’t kidding.

>>93041186
The day before game 4 of the Bulls Suns finals with the Bulls leading the series 2-1. Michael and Charles Barkley went golfing. They played 48 holes of golf. And Michael bought Charles a $20,000 diamond earring. Johnny asked MJ, “what did you do all that for?” Michael responded, “he won’t get in my way the rest of the series, what’s $20,000 to me? Charles thinks we’re great friends. I hate that fat f—.” Jordan dropped 55 in game 4 and Barkley never touched him once.
>>
>>93040923
what? the dude is stone cold. He let the mob kill his father rather than pay his gambling debts
>>
>>93041186
This is my favorite

In the Bulls’ first-round battle against the Charlotte Hornets in 1995 after Jordan’s highly touted comeback to the NBA, Jordan didn’t hesitate to leave his mark.

According to former Bulls assistant coach Johnny Bach, Jordan was guarding Muggsy Bogues when this happened:

On the biggest possession of the game, Muggsy had the ball with the Hornets down one. Jordan backed off of him and told him, 'Shoot it, you f***ing midget.' Muggsy shot it, didn’t come close. A year later Muggsy actually told Johnny Bach that he believes that single play ruined his career. His shot never recovered.
>>
>>93041226
Partially. But I do not use Google if I can help it.
>>
Jordan didn't let his family attend his last game, most plausible reason put forth is so he could go out and party/fuck hookers afterwards.
>>
>>93041436
hookers? in Salt Lake City? as we all remember MJ never played a game again after 1998 NBA Finals.
>>
>>93040380

Lebron really should've tried to get this going before the finals started. Steph Curry would get mauled by the Monstars because he has to rely on the rules to keep him safe.

Honestly Jordan was the perfect candidate and a sequel will never replicate the success of the original.

>>93040724

Fuck that ring chasing pussy. He carry a team so he had to join a stacked one that doesn't even need him. He's going to flash his ring and people are just going to shrug at him.
>>
>>93041548
The sad thing about a sequel is that it would absolutely need for the Looney Tunes to carry it more than their NBA co-star. It can't coast on the NBA's appeal like the last one did, it needs something beyond the poster to sell it.

The NBA itself is doing great but its stars aren't that marketable. MJ was the most marketable athlete in the world then, now it's Messi and Federer.
>>
>>93046059
The characterization certainly was. Then again that wasn't that hard.
>>
>>93045986
Not sure but apparently the funding is done so supposedly it's in development.
>>
hey you watcha gona do
>>
>>93046107
>stars aren't that marketable
While I can agree on Messi being likely the largest individual star, I don't think that necessarily means a Space Jam sequel would not be successful. An intersection of co-stars from several teams, such as LeBron and Curry, would definitely be enough to cover the bases in the American market.
>>
Yeah. Some new space bad guy makes wrestling Mon-Stars and the toons have to team up with John Cena to lay the smackdown on their evil plans. Call it Space Slam.
>>
>>93046118
Apparently they didn't even bother to watch Space Jam when writing Lola's character, which was probably for the best.
>>
>>93040749
It's just a really old property that never really changed for the times.
>>
>>93040380
With Messi? Sure.

No one in the NBA or any American only sport is as big as Micheal Jordan was.
>>
>>93046018
The NBA games used to be broadcasted in South American and Europe after 92. Michael Jordan was bigger than Ronaldo in 98. The chicago bulls and the dream team were huge. The current NBA makes a lot of money but is not as popular as it was 20 years ago. Micheal Jordan was a monsters we are talking of Pele or Ali tier.
>>
>>93042451
What Lebron did isn't remotely comparable.

Lebron made the Heat a superteam. The Warriors were a superteam before Durant even joined. They went 73-9 last season and had a 10+ game win-streak THIS season when Durant was injured and couldn't play.

If Lebron had left the Cavs to join the Celtics, then you could compare him to Durant.
>>
>>93040380
You all do realize they already announced a sequel right?
It's going to star Lebron James
>>
>>93047316
He's been doing it for a decade though. The Heat raised a banner with Wade before Bron got there and all three of them conspired to make a super team in Miami. Then when they were aging he saw Cleveland filled with young talent and a chance to be coach and GM and all the blank checks the owner was willing to give them and fled to friendlier confines. He's as bad if not worse in a weak as shit east and is a big reason why the league is wrecked the way it is with stars now pulling pages out of his superteam playbook.
>>
>>93047535
You're still missing the point. The 2011-2014 Heat were a superteam because Lebron was there. The same can be said of the current Cavaliers, who have a lopsided, losing record when Lebron doesn't play.

Also, I wouldn't argue Lebron has an easier time with his current team than he did with the Heat. He averaged 35/13/9 in 2015's finals and didn't even win or get FMVP. He averaged a triple double in last season's finals and barely won, and this series looks to be much the same.

Lastly, there's nothing wrong with superteams. Lebron wasted 5-6 years in Cleveland with an FO that did nothing to support him and he decided he was tired of it. There's nothing wrong with players going to teams that have a clear investment in your success and aim to support you with a supporting cast isn't wrong. It never has been.

We shit on Durant because he went to a team that had won 73 games the previous season and didn't even need him. The Warriors were a stacked superteam without him. What Durant did is something else entirely.
>>
>>93046263
Wasn't ruining Surf's Up enough?
>>
>>93047867
A 73 team that won jack shit that year. He coupled himself up with an NBA champion all-star and another one to make it easier on himself. Wow, you're amazed he excelled in that environment. If you're going throw one guy under the bus for it at least acknowledge the dude that wrote the blueprint. He has the highest paid team in league these days, filled with talent, and still isn't happy because it isn't easy enough in a shitty east. He only actually has to play one round of the playoffs and that's against whoever comes out of the west. The rest is cake. Charles Barkley was right in his assessments and even LeBron knew the way he lashed out afterward.
>>
Didn't they made a sequel through a video game??
