This. John doesn't work in the PG-13 constraints of the main DC line. Hellblazer was great because it went to depths your average story isn't going to go to. But DC has decided to neuter Constantine in order to make him the face of the mystical side of the DCU.

Move it to Young Animal and confine it to its own world. Also if you're gonna deage him you should update his origin, the punk shit only works if he's a middle aged man like in the Vertigo stuff. It comes across as more gringey and thus made Vertigo John more relatible and endearing and not some swarmy walking British stereotype like he is now.
