This guy combines 2 of my favourites

>Evil looking monster appears. He's just a normal sounding, friendly guy and is very affable

and

Think Punisher vs Dr. Doom (inb4 hero)
Anti hero is a person with good intentions that uses pretty brutal ways to get there, but doesn't go over the line
Anti villain is a guy who is not interested in good intentions in general, but isn't overtly cruel or maligned, and will aid if need be.

Yes, but he also derived pleasure from seeing people subjugated and/or straight up murdered. It's pretty safe to say he'd probably be doing it even without monetary incentive since no one would really be able to stop him. Come to think of it, kid but is another good example of a villain that enjoys what they do. The little shit just goes around murdering planets for shits n giggles.

An antihero does the right thing for the wrong reason. Maybe they're just in it for the money, or they're driven by their inner demons, or they only save the many because they care about the few.

An antivillain does the wrong thing for the right reason. They may have good intentions, but it leads them to commit terrible acts.

Oh my god, THANK YOU! I have had this argument several times. Yes, it's nice to have a villain that is a person and you either can sympathize or legit not want to lose... but sometimes you want a bastard! Sometimes you want someone who just wants to fuck shit up, maybe even has a flimsy nihilistic excuse even they don't believe in, but is fun to throw in the heroes face. Like a repeated "But you're wrong because X", and they are just doing it for the repetition and mental damage.

All because they want to HURT people. Not specific people, not some people, PEOPLE. Give the heroes someone they don't have to hold back against. An irredeemable piece of shit who will just keep killing, and escaping, and maybe have a laugh at the heroes expense. Let it get edgy, if just for this one character.

The ending in Kingdom Come with Batman as an old crippled cyborg man who can barely walk becoming the godfather to the child of Superman and Wonderwoman with some blablabla talk about how their child should be raised to be better than all of them and never make the mistakes they just made in the comic was really really something I enjoyed.

And one trope that I've seen in other media but not in (western) comics, that I'd like to see in western comics.

There's a reason why "Patriot Act" is one of my favorite episodes of any show ever. Also, huge honorable mention to the best OPM moment in the anime by a huge margin: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zq2TbgQFT0s

These are always great. The world is irreparably damaged. Shit's gone to hell, and lots of heroes of old are dead. All that remains is a small group of rag tag rebels fighting against whatever destroyed the world. Heroes from the future go to the past seeking help or to warn them of a coming catastrophy. Or heroes go to the future to find it in ruins and learn about what single event ruined the future.

I will always love that moment in The Wrath of Kahn.

The villains just want to fix everything. Magneto, Doom, even Red Skull, Punisher, Sinestro, Lex. They're prevented because no-one trusts them.

The kids team (Power Pack) in actually a bunch of flesh-eating monsters trying to be heroes to turn over a new leaf.

It's time to defeat the Mean Girl who's been nothing but useless and cruel. After it all, she ends up covered in mud. It doesn't matter that you paid so much for those clothes, and should have been less of a bitch about everything.

The standard template-made hero rips someone a new one (and here's proof you're the clone), or gets out of a trap (does Slumdog Millionaire count?) because they have experience. They're able to defeat the cold, sentient computer, or the high holy god, not because of "puppies and love" sappiness, but because they understand how things are supposed to be, the wonderful world this should be. Like All-Star Superman when Lex finally understands the limits of existence.

when two characters or a team end up in some sort of conflict between themselves and their once close bonds start to tear apart. Even better if there's someone younger in the group who is pleading for them to stop fighting to no avail. Kinda like taking your time to set up the Legos meticulously only to destroy them.

>Character that was built up to stop this bad thing or villain fails
So they've gone on this whole journey, learned a lot, and got some cool skills; but this still wasn't enough to stop the thing. Then they break down and have a BSOD. Whether it works later or not is fine .

>Super nice cool character, lover, whatevs, is actually really nice and cool and not just scheming whatever thing
It's super annoying because it's always happening and it's more surprising if it gets played straight at this point
>Protag loses everything they have and everyone they love due to a villain and there's no way to get them back and they have to deal with it.
Even better if it's at the end of the story, like the villains last shot, and they sink into depression.

I just really like depressive sad stuff I guess. It's fun to watch once nice and wholesome things decay. I also really like:
>Stuff is really sugary and nice at first but slowly it becomes apparent that things are actually really fucked up and weird.
recent cartoons like Adventure Time are good examples of this. There's more but I can't really think of them. I think the corruption of innocence thing is also really cool and interesting. Maybe it's more that it when things that aren't meant to be twisted are and the ones that should be twisted aren't. Most of the time it's way more interesting that way.

Speaking of tropes, have anybody noticed how many villains there are that likes to have order and systems to things, and are usually very strict about it? And if they aren't villains, they're usually the most patethic character in the story.

Because I can relate to that, and I think that It's pretty unfair to write someone off as a bad guy simply because they have a lot of pride in following rules and be strict about it.

Is it because so many people relate to rebels? The people who oppose the rules that "limits" their freedom?

I just want a relatable main hero, goddammit...

>I can overheal you until you die from it
How does that work?
>>
>Protagonist lives in a post-apocalyptic world
>instead of being an action/survival story, the setting is peaceful and slow and characters are just living their normal day lives as they get used to the idea of a world that's slowly ending

Only ever seen it once but I liked it so much

It depends on the story. Tvtropes mentions this one:

In Knightfall, Shondra Kinsolving had the ability to heal using Healing Hands, but when combined with her stepbrother, she and he could kill anyone from afar by healing them too much, putting the victim's glands and nervous system on fatal overdrive.

I know its not /co/ but does Handsome Jack fall into that 3rd category? If so than he's my favorite.
>>
>>93079404
Handsome Jack is not at all collected or normal, so no. He's a lunatic that shows the common trope of "don't fuck with a man with nothing left to lose".
>>
>>93061417
Im sure he doesnt give a shit as long as argent is a thing

speaking of doom
>silent protag who is unrelentingly determined
>>
>>93079526
Huh, I always saw Jack as a guy with a LOT to lose though. He had a trillion dollar company, a daughter who was a siren, tons upon tons of workers and robots at his disposal, and eridium which was the key to not only unlocking the vault(and potentially millions of other vaults which could help him expand his influence across other galaxies), it also can increase a sirens power. Its only logical that with all of this in his possession he would develop a sense of a "holier than thau" and jokey/collected type personality because he was the assumption that he could never lose.
>>
>>93079928
>Huh, I always saw Jack as a guy with a LOT to lose though
He specifically cites the "I have nothing left to lose" trope multiple times, though. He HAS other things, but he doesn't care about them, "losing" them doesn't matter to him because in his mind he only had the thing you took away.

Would've been better if it happened in Part 3. The lack of the PB opening playing when Dio gets wrecked is fucking criminal.

LIterally, the best trope. Even better if they timeskip ahead, have kids, and you get to see their personalities reflected in their parenting styles.

>Hero and villain are married and have children
>They're actually good parents and don't fight in front of their children
>They do that in the bedroom.
I just love the idea of a superhero and supervillain forming some sort of parental truce to raise their kid(s).
Like some blonde bombshell mad scientist eventually decides that she wants the local billionaire playboy more than she wants to spend her life alone.
>She flirts with his secret identity
>Takes every opportunity to kidnap the object of her attentions
>Claims it's for the ransom (billionaire, remember)
>But she also reduces him to his skivvies so he 'can't hide any weapons' and to see him squirm
>Expresses outright hatred for his costumed side
>He can't bring himself to kill her due to his sense of chivalry
>Eventually, he's forced to reveal his costumed identity
>She reveals that she knew all along, and winks

When angel dies is WHEN he no longer has anything left to lose. He flat out says multiple times you took the one thing he cared about away from him, and he changes plans from "rule everything" to "kill the players". He immediately goes to wake the Warrior, and when you stop it he just gives up and dies.

>>
>>93085514
So it would be more accurate to say overhealing is creating a bunch of tumors on your body until there are so many on your system that you die? All while probably being on constant pain and fear about the body horror? That would be awesome for a villain to do indeed.
