I just hope it has nothing to do with Dr. Manhattan or whatever exploitation of the Watchmen story DC is doing.

The New 52 making him a Dr. Manhattan ripoff was a mistake. It's far removed from where the character started out as and the stories they told with him weren't as interesting. It was starting to get old towards the end of Krul's run.

This mini was a good way to get him to something similar to how he was in the 80's-90's while also not ignoring what the New 52 did with him and still having some new twists to his origin story.
